A native of Dallas’ historic Oak Cliff community, Massey has established a solid clientele throughout a professional cosmetology career that spans a little more than two decades.

Massey’s rise to cosmetology excellence began back when she was in middle school, during which she imposed a small fee to do hair.

“That was my very first job,” Massey said during a January interview with MHN. “I was a young entrepreneur, having my own money. I have been doing hair for 21 years as a black business owner.

“People always ask how I do my makeup, so I want to get a group of beautiful ladies in one room to congregate, learn, and be stress free,” Massey said her forthcoming event she hopes will attract a sizeable crowd of aspiring makeup artists and professionals.

To her credit, Massey has added her distinctly unique gift as a credible makeup professional to her entrepreneurship resume.

Since announcing the Let’s WakeUp and MakeUp Together, Massey said t feedback has been overwhelmingly favorable, in large part because many of her clients sensed that it is long overdue.

“(People have expressed such) excitement (and said they are) looking forward to the positivity,” Massey said, graduate of Dallas’ Justin F. Kimball High School whose advanced education includes having graduated from I.T.S. Beauty Academy.

Massey emphasized that anyone is welcome to attend this event, which she plans to host annually, if not several times each year.

“This is the first (year for the event) and won’t be the last,” Massey said.
