THE G.O.A.T. OF BAKING
DALLAS — At approximately 9 o’clock CDT Thursday morning, one of LaTambria Johnson’s devoted customers had given her the proverbial 411 on some rather pertinent information.
Talk about surprised.
“I first heard about it today,” Johnson said. “I was shocked but honored at the same time.”
That about which Johnson “heard” was The Greatest Baker contest the accomplished Dallas/Fort Worth businesswoman wasted little time entering.

“Baking is not just my business,” Johnson, 36, said on The Greatest Baker intro page where votes can be cast. “Baking is my passion. Making others happy and feel special is always my goal.”
For her valiant efforts and contributions as the owner and CEO of Tam’s Sweet Treats And More, Johnson has entered a notable contest that could give way to her being featured in the Bake From Scratch Magazine, as well as being the beneficiary of a year’s supply of Stuffed Puffs and a grand prize of $10,000.
After posting to her Facebook the big announcement of her having entered The Greatest Baker contest, Johnson was met by a number congratulatory shout outs from a gallery of her social media followers, many of whom wasted little time casting their vote for whom they have ceremoniously dubbed arguably the best baker in recent memory.
As of Thursday night, Johnson had checked in at No. 17 in The Greatest Baker polls, having quickly moved up 24 spots from No. 41 when she entered the contest.
Voting for The Greatest Baker’s Top 10 candidates ends November 5 at 11 p.m. EDT.

A native of Dallas, Johnson’s Tam’s Sweet Treats And More has become a fixture through DFW.
MORE ON TAM’S VENTURE: https://tamssweettreatsandmore.com/
A venture that went into operations in 2014 in memory of my son, Amari Carter — who passed away in January 2013 — Tam’s Sweet Treats And More is widely known for providing consumers with a variety of sweets, most notably cakes, teacakes, chocolate covered sweets and, of course, its assortment of delectable and mouthwatering cupcakes.
As Johnson explained, her business has enjoyed a considerable amount of success, this after having come full circle amid humble beginnings.
“I started out as strictly a cupcake baker. I originally had a fear of attempting cakes. My customers on the other hand pushed my limits and creativity and now I’m well-versed in cakes, cupcakes, cake cookies and many other pastries and treats.”
A business that has garnered a national presence in recent months, Johnson’s Tam’s Sweet Treats And More was established after she had spent a better part of childhood watching her grandmother bake desserts in the confines of her kitchen, a trend that had ultimately fueled her desire to follow in her massive footsteps.
October 31 will mark the 19th anniversary of the passing of Johnson’s grandmother.
A graduate of Dallas Skyline who is a longtime dental professional, Johnson has been baking since she was 12 years.
Coming away with The Greatest Baker award, Johnson said, will be a true testament of the hard work she has invested in upgrading her baking mechanics throughout the years.
“I channeled that grief and pain to grow in my passion and vowed to make it a success in his honor,” said Johnson, referring to her son’s death and subsequent startup of her business. “I’m sure he is proud of mommy’s growth.”
Granny, too.
