ESP-NATIONAL EXPOSURE
DALLAS — LaTambria Johnson was sitting at her desk at the North Dallas dental practice she manages when she fielded a rather intriguing social media notification.
She immediately stopped what she was doing and tuned in.
“I was totally surprised and honored,” Johnson said.
That to which Johnson is alluding is ESPN studio host Elle Duncan’s Facebook live footage, during which the longtime anchor and reporter thanked the Dallas/Fort Worth entrepreneur for preparing her popular cake cookies ahead of the 2023 NCAA Women’s Final Four.
NATIONAL SHOUT OUT
Johnson’s delectable desserts were presented to Duncan during the ESPN’s meet and greet session with the media the day before the national semifinals took place in Dallas’ American Airlines Center.
Seventeen seconds into live feed, Johnson chimed in.
Said Johnson, the architect of Tam’s Sweet Treats And More: “Love it!”
A video that lasted one minute, 10 seconds in real time, Duncan — seen holding Johnson’s box of treats during the meet and greet assembly in the Final Four media hospitality area — deemed it necessary to personally thank Johnson.
“Tam, thank you so much,” said Duncan, displaying Johnson’s treats that featured ESPN and 2023 Final Four logos and was accompanied by her business flyer. “I can’t wait to have these delicious treats.”
Duncan, who hosts the weekday 6 p.m. ET edition of SportsCenter with Kevin Negandhi, hinted that she was about to engage in a proverbial cheat day by briefly abandoning her diet so she could delve into Johnson’s cake cookies.
“My stomach’s not gonna thank you because I’m trying to get ready for the summer. But whatever,” Duncan, who joined ESPN in 2016, jokingly said.

Johnson, meanwhile, was ecstatic that her one of her wide range of desserts ultimately landed in the hands of one of ESPN’s most popular and well-respected personalities.
“I prepared personalized red velvet and sugar cake cookies,” Johnson said. “I was totally surprised and honored (by Duncan’s live shout out).”
A native of Dallas, Johnson first introduced her cake cookies in 2020, weeks into the global pandemic. The treats have since become one of her most popular items as she now offers them in a variety of flavors.
A 2002 Dallas Skyline graduate who is the office manager at Children’s Dental and Orthodontics in North Dallas, Johnson’s Tam’s Sweet Treats And More went into operations in 2014.
“I started in the kitchen with my grandmother as a child and learned as much as I could,” Johnson recalls. “I took all that knowledge and carried it over to my adult life. I first thought I would just do it for my girls, but the more I tried and accomplished, the more I pushed myself and here we are now.”
Widely known for providing consumers with a variety of sweets, Tam’s Sweet Treats And More has enjoyed considerable growth in recent years, in large part because of its wide range of cakes, teacakes, themed gift baskets, chocolate covered sweets, and its famous cupcakes.
“(These) cake cookies took off during the pandemic, but a lot more since then,” Johnson said. “There are so many new flavor options available now.”
Duncan, as it turned out, wasn’t the only beneficiary of Johnson’s mouthwatering cake cookies.

Johnson also prepared treats for South Carolina coach Dawn Staley ahead of the Gamecocks’ national semifinal game against Iowa.
Staley’s sweets were accompanied by Gamecocks logos and images of the coach during her All-American days at the University of Virginia.
“It was an amazing honor and privilege to have this opportunity,” Johnson said. “It afforded me the opportunity to share my passion on the national level with some amazing women.”
No. 3 seed LSU defeated No. 2 Iowa in Sunday’s national championship game, 102-85.
