DALLAS — Like a tremendously supportive and Godly help meet, Sandra Porter undoubtedly wants the best for her husband, Cleveland Porter.
After all, her beloved soulmate is a representation of her and vice versa.
Case in point, Mrs. Porter, found herself just before the holiday season last year in a situation that, in essence, was a golden opportunity to put her immeasurable love toward her husband on display.
The only issue, according to her, was that she was devising ways to do it as discreetly as possible.
“What happened was that my husband had gotten overweight and I really had a desire for him to lose weight,” Mrs. Porter told Making Headline News during a recent interview.
“But I really had no idea how to approach him. That’s the problem. Alot of women don’t know how to approach their spouse about that issue, because they would become offended.”
As it turned out, Mrs. Porter, a longtime licensed minister whose present ministry is geared more toward outreach, adopted an effective, strategic plan — with God, her Helper, leading the way.
“God will put other people in our paths who can do what we can’t do,” Mrs. Porter said.
Fortunately for the Porters, that’s exactly what happened.
In a discreetly unique quest to inspire her husband to shave off the necessary weight that would greatly give way to a more healthy, carefree lifestyle, Mrs. Porter consulted her friend, Dallas/Fort Worth-area based Total Life Changes Director Vickie Robinson, going as far as to suggest that Robinson pay a visit to their home to enlighten the Porters on all things TLC.
The rest, as they say, was history.
“So Vickie came to my house to talk to my husband and it went well,” Mrs. Porter said.
So masterful was Robinson’s presentation that Mr. Porter wasted little time purchasing TLC’s efficient, effective products, a development that ultimately gave way to favorable results for the Mississippi native.
Within a span of just three months, in fact, Mr. Porter whom, at the time, boasts a solid 6-foot-2, 280-pound frame that essentially was equivalent to that of an NFL defensive end, had witnessed his weight decreased dramatically, all the way down to 249 pounds to this very day.
What a difference several doses of the Total Life Changes IasoTea and other products had made for a TLC newcomer whom, as his wife explained, could have very well endured some potentially devastating physical challenges if not for their informative meeting with Robinson.
That’s because just recently, Mrs. Porter had learned that Mr. Porter was diagnosed as a diabetic and that doctors were contemplating providing him with medication to aid him.
“I just looked at him like, ‘Seriously? You didn’t tell me this,'” Mrs. Porter said.
But just as she had been devising way to inspire her husband to lose weight months prior, Mr. Porter, to his credit, had been seeking ways to conquer an issue without his wife of 12 years having to become ultimately saddled by an array of discouragement and worry and despair.
“What he wanted to do was get the weight off then share it with me,” Mrs. Porter said. “He had lost alot of weight. What was special about it was that he stayed committed and kept moving in a positive direction.”
Like her husband, Mrs. Porter had been facing some physical challenges of her own long before the couple had officially joined TLC in February.
Struggling with what she described as an “irregular bile movement,” Mrs. Porter said consuming frequent doses of the IasoTea aided her mightily, particularly as it pertained to ridding herself of the issue.
“It helps keep me regulated,” she said.
Today, the Porters — widely known as “TEAM PORTER” — have formed a pretty remarkable tandem through TLC and, like Robinson, they routinely reach out to others to enlighen them, among other things, on the continuous favorable results they’ve enjoyed, courtesy of this booming health and nutrition-oriented business that was established in 1999.
“Our mission is to inform individuals that while we live here on earth, we can’t be concerned so much about the material things,” Mrs. Porter said. “We’ve got to be concerned about our health. God tells us that He wants us to be about taking care of our temple while we’re trying to get these (material) things. So our mission is to encourage others to take care of their bodies. So many diseases are coming up out of nowhere.”
Especially various forms of cancer, said Mrs. Porter, a full-time non-traditional student at the University of North Texas in nearby Denton.
“Cancer is one of the diseases that is running rampart,” Mrs. Porter said.
Now that “TEAM PORTER” is just a few steps away from becoming directors for Total Life Changes, Mrs. Porter emphasized that their lofty, collective mission with the company will remain the same.
That is, she and her husband are destined to impact and change lives, both in the natural and spirit.
Just as God commands us.
“From a spiritual standpoint, God wants us to be cautious not just of our spiritual lives, but He wants us to be cautious of our physical lives,” said Mrs. Porter who, along with her husband, are also helping people generate a favorable and steady flow of income through TLC. “He wants us to have an abundance in everything. His word is a roadmap for our lives.”
Now that’ll preach.
