Atlanta-area author Lisa Duffey takes another step toward her destiny in ‘I Am A Black Woman, Volume 2.’

DALLAS — It was a rather turbulent, tumultuous, seemingly unbearable season in Lisa Duffey’s life, one in which it seemed far too insurmountable to bear at times.

“I got the vision about three years ago but never acted on it,” Duffey, an Atlanta-area author, told Making Headline News this week, recalling the memorable, emotionally-driven developments that led to her contributing to a soon-to-be released book. “It was just too painful. Then I began to see women coming out, talking about their experiences regarding sexual abuse and domestic violence.”

GOD’S VIRTUOUS WOMAN

**DESTINY STEPS —** A native of Hempstead, New York, Lisa Duffey is among a dozen authors who assumed an immeasurable platform in the forthcoming book entitled, “I Am A Black Woman, Volume 2.”

For Duffey, hearing other writers display a great deal of transparency regarding situations that essentially have shaped their lives for the better, in many aspects, fueled her desire to follow suit.

A native of Hempstead, New York, Duffey is among a dozen authors who assumed an immeasurable platform in the forthcoming book entitled, “I Am A Black Woman, Volume 2.”

An awe-inspiring, spiritually gut-checking project that is forwarded by Atlanta-area empowerment coach and fellow author Dr. Carolyn Stephens, the sophomore edition of “I Am A Black Woman” is widely known as “One Voice” and addresses a variety of pertinent topics — most notably surviving divorce, sexual and physical abuse, broken identity, and mental illness, among other subjects.

For Duffey, that she was afforded the golden opportunity to share of her life-enhancing experiences in the second edition of this book, by all accounts, was a defining moments in the life of a woman who knows full well she’s been set aside for God’s use.

“I was approached by one of the co-authors and found out they were working on this project,” Duffey explained. “That is when I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I was ready to tell my story.”

And the rest, as they say, was history.

That’s because not only has Duffey dauntlessly disclosed of her assortment of testimonies while fortifying pure boldness and confidence but, more than anything, it seems that joining forces with a gallery of Christian-oriented authors has become a clear path toward her purpose.

Her destiny, too.

FOR IT IS WRITTEN…

“I chose to write this chapter, because I needed to heal from past hurts — physically and emotionally — and also let other women know that this kind of behavior should not be tolerated from the men in their life,” said Duffey, recalling her stormy, tumultuous past that was mired by her being victimized by a dark season of child molestation.

“I put up with it from age 14 to 30. As I began to put my story on paper, I realized I had things locked away in secret places in my mind, and as those places were opened, I began to forgive those that had hurt me.”

To her credit, the more she customarily grasped the power of forgiveness, the more she began to gain closure to those things that previously kept her bound.

THE FIGHT WAS FIXED

**GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS —** For Duffey, hearing other writers display a great deal of transparency regarding situations that essentially have shaped their lives for the better, in many aspects, fueled her desire to follow suit.

The more she began to gain closure to those things that previously kept her bound, the more God began to steer her toward her purpose.

The more God began to steer her toward her purpose, the more she began to discover just how much her immeasurable gifts were needed, particularly as it pertains to advancing the kingdom.

Look at her today, a true, big-hearted and devout woman of faith, pressing and navigating mightily toward her destiny for such a spirited, life-changing time as now.

Yep. That’s just like God.

“God has and is still using me to show empathy and compassion for women who have or are going through what I went through,” said Duffey, explaining how “I Am A Black Woman, Volume 2” has become part of the purpose for which God has created her. “It’s easy to tell someone to leave a horrible relationship when they have not been through one. Since I been through it all, I get it…some women just can’t pick up and leave. They have to stay and endure the hardship and pain. Those on the outside should be there for them and not be judgmental.”

Now that she has steadfastly exercised her faith through the world of authorship, Duffey has acknowledged that other books are on the horizon, much sooner than later.

And with “I Am A Black Woman, Volume 2” set to be released in the coming months, this brilliant and talent author has already become the beneficiary of an array of favorable feedback.

So much for the rather turbulent, tumultuous, seemingly unbearable season in her life, one in which it seemed far too insurmountable to bear at times.

That was then.

This is now.

**STAY TUNED —** Now that she has steadfastly exercised her faith through the world of authorship, Duffey has acknowledged that other books are on the horizon, much sooner than later.

A new season, accompanied by new memories, accompanied new mercies — with God, her Helper, leading the way.

“It’s been rough, watching my dad beat my mother constantly and trying kill her in front of us,” Duffey said. “Becoming a teenage girl and being beaten constantly, mistreated, beaten up, raped, sodomized…I can go on and on. I felt hopeless.”

Still, amongst the things that Duffey has ultimately discovered is that in spite of her slew of hell and high water encounters, God had miraculous plans for her life.

“One day, I did a simple equation, 2-1=1,” Duffey recalled. “I realized that if I took myself out of the equation, that meant 1 less headache — the man in my life — and that’s what I finally did after so many years. At 56 (years of age), I am married to a wonderful man. (I’m a) mother of six wonderful adult children, I have three stepchildren, 10 grandchildren, been on my job as a tax analyst for 32 years, and married to a wonderful man named Keith Duffey.”

Yep. That’s just like God, always providing for us an emphatic, memorable way of escape.

Although there is such a thing as a competitive drive, Roselinde Ngozi’s reputation is such that she’s customarily ignores it.

After all, as far as she’s concerned, that isn’t merely a bad thing.

“I ignore life’s competitive drive. It can be distracting,” Ngozi told Making Headline News this week. “Instead, I focus on creating, not competition…creativity.”

RAISING THE BAR

A Co-author breaks her silence in her new book of being Abused and child molested Now Survives

DALLAS — For Shanetta Turner, she sensed the time had finally come to confront the massive stronghold that essentially was keeping her bound, that spiritual barricade that, in some aspects, was blocking her view from her purpose.

And her destiny.

Suddenly, after years of trying to gain closure to a pressing issue that, by all accounts, was reducing her effectiveness to thrive both in natural and the spiritual, Turner sensed it was time to cross paths once again with her sexual abuser, that very person who had caused great damage to the purpose for which she was created.

Never mind that her molester was of kin.

SLAYING THE GIANT

**BREAKING HER SILENCE —** After years of trying to gain closure to a pressing issue that, by all accounts, was reducing her effectiveness to thrive both in natural and the spiritual, Detroit-area author Shanetta Turner sensed that it was time to cross paths once again with the sexual abuser, who caused great damage to the purpose for which she was created. Turner had managed to garner the essential closure she sought is due in large part to her golden opportunity she was afforded in the book entitled, **“I Am A Black Woman, Volume 2.”**

“I finally spoken to the man that molested me, which is my cousin…my mom’s biological nephew,” Turner, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling her dauntless confrontation with her cousin some two months ago. “It happened to me when I was 12, a preteen.”

As Turner explained, such a disheartening, emotionally-driven development had sent her into an unwarranted tailspin at such a young age, something by which she found difficult to stomach for years.

“I guess you can say that I was torn, because after that, I had to grow up too fast, having (experienced) traumatic, abusive relationships throughout my adult life until now.

As Turner specifically acknowledged, there was a major reason for her having demonstrated such eagerness to contribute to a book that figures to change a generation.

THUS SAID THE LORD…

“There are more women like me that are scared and holding (their struggles) in for years at a time and staying in silence,” Turner said. “I held mine in for 25 years.”

Sometime during the course the recent holiday season, though, God had birthed this young and gifted writer with the vision to carry out her vision.

Even it meant confronting her abuser, who happened to be a blood relative.

**HEART FOR PEOPLE —** Faced with a brief timeframe to submit her submission for this book, Turner wasted little time making her presence felt, having completed her portion of “I Am A Black Woman, Volume 2” just shy of two months.

“I know God has created me to be a Queen, a woman of respect, leadership, and dignity,” Turner said. “God has creates me to serve others, no matter if it’ in a book, helping a homeless person or a person that has everything but needs some advice, or a person that is in tough times in life.”

For her valiant efforts, coupled with her wealth of transparency, Turner doesn’t shy away from the notion that her latter days will be greater than her former days — with God, her Helper, steering the way.

“My reward from God will be huge,” Turner says without hesitation. “Having sympathy for people and their pain is a job within itself, but is very warm to my heart. When I finally felt good about what I had been wanting to say for over 25 years, I didn’t care what others thought of me for my truth, and speaking to my very first domestic violence sister and her helping her understand there is no need to take your own life because of your past and that you are not alone. I have been there before and that I got help someone, that feeling was unexplainable.”

Not that she’s made her authorship debut, other written projects are surely in the works, likely a few co-written books that will hit the market as early as next year, said Turner, the CEO and Founder of Justice Strong Sistas, LLC.

Also, Turner, who resides in Macomb, Michigan, is scheduled to take part in a book signing fundraiser event in June in nearby Detroit, during which she will serve as an advocate for “I Am A Black Woman, Volume 2” and her support group.

Daughter of Memphis Pastor receives double transplant, erases memory of 22-year-long battle with kidney failure, diabetes

DALLAS — One single phone call over the weekend had ultimately given way to Ivory Jackson Sr.’s daughter, Tamara, violating traffic laws for all the right reasons.

Surely, he didn’t seem to mind.

“She drove 94 (miles per hours) all the way to Jackson,” Jackson Sr., during an interview Tuesday morning with Making Headline News, said, alluding to his daughter’s three-hour commute from Memphis to the capital of Mississippi.

MISSISSIPPI MIRACLE

**DADDY’S LIVING MIRACLE —** During a phone call from the University of Mississippi Medical Center Friday evening, Ebony — who was in dire need of kidney and pancreas translates, or a “double transplant,” according to her father — learned that perfect matches had been cited for both, news that jumpstarted her life’s long-awaited comeback.

To grasp a thorough understanding of why Tamara Jackson had gone nearly 25 miles above the speed limit for an extended period of time, look no further than the challenging, sometimes tempestuous occurrences involving her sister, Ebony Jackson.

At the tender age of 10, Ebony was diagnosed with kidney failure. As if that wasn’t enough to send shock waves throughout her family, she was also diagnosed as a Juvenile Diabetic Type 1.

According to a report at https://www.mayoclinic.org/, this type of diabetes is a condition in which a child’s body no longer produces an important hormone (or insulin).

**BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER —** At the tender age of 10, Ebony was diagnosed with kidney failure. As if that wasn’t enough to send shocks waves throughout her family, she was also diagnosed as a Juvenile Diabetic Type 1.

As a result, the child would customarily need insulin to survive and would have to replace the missing insulin. Also, Type 1 diabetes in children is commonly known as “juvenile diabetes,” or “insulin-dependent diabetes.”

Type 1 diabetes in children, in fact, requires consistent care. However, advances in blood sugar monitoring and insulin delivery have improved the daily management of the condition.

For Ebony Jackson, 33, her diagnosis, which lasted a little more than two decades, had come to what appeared to be a ceremonious end over the weekend.

During a phone call from the University of Mississippi Medical Center Friday evening, Ebony — who was in dire need of kidney and pancreas translates, or a “double transplant,” according to her father — learned that perfect matches had been cited for both, news that jumpstarted her life’s long-awaited comeback.

FAITH ON TRIAL

“I felt like I was floating. My thoughts are still all over the place, as are my emotions,” Ebony wrote in an 8:52 a.m. CST Facebook post before her 1,300-plus social media followers on Saturday. “But I do know that God answered my prayers.”

He didn’t just answer the fervent prayers of this courageous, yet sometimes animated PK — or Pastor’s Kid, according to those in the church world — but that Ebony underwent surgery the next day, during which she was the beneficiary of a new kidney and pancreas essentially had given way to a testimony service orchestrated by her father Sunday morning within the walls of the church her grandfather founded nearly 50 years ago.

“I guess God had something to do with the timing of it,” Ivory Jackson Sr., the Senior Pastor of Memphis’ Faith Temple Ministries Church of God In Christ, said, alluding to his daughter’s surgical procedure that took place the day before his father’s 83^rd birthday and 12 days before what would have been his mother’s 84^th birthday. “The call happened on Friday as far as making preparations. The transplant happened on Saturday, and I wanted to get to church on Sunday to bring back good news.”

SEASON OF THE REBIRTH

**THE ROMANS 8:37 AFFECT —** God didn’t just answer the fervent prayers of this courageous, yet animated PK — or Pastor’s Kid, according to those in the church world — but that Ebony underwent surgery the next day, during which she was the beneficiary of a new kidney and pancreas essentially had given way to testimony service, of sorts, unfolding Sunday morning within the walls of the church her grandfather founded nearly 50 years ago.

For Jackson Sr., it was the kind of “good news” that ironically seemed synonymous to the sermon he had given hours after returning from Jackson. The topic: “What’s In Your Heart?”

For what it’s worth, it’s safe to assume his daughter whom, months leading to her double transplant, had kept her social media followers abreast of her journey, already answered such an inquiry long before her father had posed the question to his congregation.

Having described his daughter as a “fighter” much like her late grandmother, Lottie Jackson, who passed away in October 2012, Ebony’s surgical breakthrough comes a little more than 22 years after her unlikely diagnosis.

**FAMILY FOCUS —** For what it’s worth, it’s safe to assume his daughter whom, months leading to her double transplant, had keep her kept her social media followers abreast of her journey, already answered such an inquiry long before her father had posed the question to his congregation.

Because God was working diligently behind the scenes on her behalf, this wasn’t merely a proverbial Catch 22, mind you. If nothing else, the dramatic sequence of events surrounding Ebony’s condition is a testament of how she has steadfastly kept God the Focal Point during her immeasurable, yet sometimes stormy journey.

For her valiant efforts, coupled with her bend-but-don’t-break faith, she was finally able to erase of the memory of a two-plus-decade-long affliction, which could have potentially given way to a premature death.

But God…

**LOTTIE’S LOOKING DOWN FROM HEAVEN —** All that matters at this point, really, is that Ebony, whose drawn much comparison to her late grandmother, underwent successful surgery and is on the road to recovery. Jackson posed for a postgame photo with former Oklahoma City Thunder and current Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant in 2013.

“I was very excited and it was actually surreal to me,” said Ivory Jackson Sr., recalling his immediate reaction after fielding a phone call late Friday night from Ebony, who shared with him the good news surrounding her condition. “I was in the middle of a business transaction and was about to stop and go (take her myself.)”

It wasn’t long after the phone call for which Ebony had desperately waited that she began to prepare to make the three-hour trip down Interstate 55 to Jackson.

Then came Tamara, Jackson Sr.’s other daughter whom, to her credit, not only replaced her father in the driver seat, but she put the pedal to the metal in relatively unorthodox and speedy fashion.

Never mind that she deemed it essentially to violate a few traffic laws in the process.

All that matters at this point, really, is that Ebony — whose spiritual music talents have drawn much comparisons to her late grandmother — underwent successful surgery and, for good measure, is on a much-anticipated road to recovery.

OK–COMEBACK FOR THE AGES

**DESTINY STEPS —** For her valiant efforts, coupled with her bend-but-don’t-break faith, Ebony was finally able to erase of the memory of a two-plus-decade-long affliction that could have potentially given way to a premature death. But God…

What a memorable journey it was, as evidenced by the good news her father disclosed before his congregation Sunday morning.

“The people told her to go ahead and pack her bags, because she wouldn’t have to wait long,” said Jackson Sr., whose daughter was added to the Mississippi transplant waiting list roughly two months ago. “My daughter called (Friday night) and was crying. This was the best news I have ever heard.”

So much for that 94-mile-per-hour drive down I-55 for what unequivocally has emerged as the Mississippi Miracle.

DALLAS — Dr. Cheryl Minter isn’t just widely known for the being the Founder and Senior Pastor of Anointed Word Life Center in East Point, Georgia.

Because of whom she is and because of the God-mandated calling on her life, she’s positioned herself to lead God’s people around the word, most notably through her immeasurable gifts as an author.

A native of Macon, Georgia, Minter has been blessed to compose five books to date, one of which is entitled, “Go Get Your Blessing,” her latest project she had co-written with her daughter, Brittany Ross.

“God gave me the vision back in 2000 to put to paper,” Dr. Minter, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the memorable developments that led to her delving off into the ever-so-competitive world of authorship. “God explained to me that there would be people that would need to hear my story.”

Not only has Dr. Minter been blessed with the ideal platform to bless and enlighten the masses of her assortment of awe-inspiring testimonies that have helped shape and mold her into a monumental beacon of light throughout the Body of Christ, but her transparency through her books is steadily helping lure people to Christ.

“Many people would be going through similar testing, but they needed to know that their way was already prosperous and the plan that God executed for them at the beginning of time would stand the test of time,” Dr. said Minter, explained in great detail her mission for having assembled her starting lineup of books. “And I would be one of the examples that God would use in the earth to get His messages across.”

A 1982 graduate of Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, it wasn’t until approximately 11 years after Dr. Minter had caught the vision to become an author that “God’s Anointed Word Fulfilling Destiny,” her first published written work, had come full circle.

To her credit, it seemed that once book No. 1 had made its much-anticipated presence on the market, others would soon follow.

That’s because in 2013, Dr. Minter’s Coffee Talk Part 1 was officially released, followed by Coffee Talk Part 2 in 2014.

Not to be outdone, Dr. Minter would join forces with 14 other authors to compose a collaborative written document entitled, “Second Chance Living,” an intriguing and informative project that was released just months after the second edition of Coffee Talk.

And then there is her latest book, “Go Get Your Blessing,” a book in which she paired with her daughter to assemble and is nearly three years removed since its release.

“The divine message in each book is that God is the Author and Finisher of our faith, that no matter what tests or trials we go through first, we are not alone,” said Dr. Minter sounding as if she’s giving a sermon from behind a sacred desk. “And if we don’t allow what is trying us to die in us, we will rise again with better ideas and a new creative process, but we must let go of the old and trust God for the new.”

A 1982 graduate of Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, it wasn’t until approximately 11 years after Dr. Minter had caught the vision to become an author that “God’s Anointed Word Fulfilling Destiny,” her first published written work, had come full circle.

Interestingly, Dr. Minter emphasized, among other things, why many of God’s people fail to fully adhere to these spiritual attributes.

“The reason we don’t understand is because it’s new and unfamiliar territory,” said Dr. Minter, whose notable accolades includes having graduated from the World Changers Ministries School of Ministry under the leadership of renowned Pastor Creflo Dollar. “If it was a process we’re used to, then we wouldn’t be afraid or have fear. Fear will cause you to stay stuck where it is unproductive and a strain.”

At this point during the interview, a full-fledge sermon had broken out by one of the Body of Christ’s most accomplished pastors-turned-authors.

“If Joseph had not been sold, he never would have been second in command with the King,” Dr. Minter explained. “If Abraham had not moved, he never would have been the father of many nations.”

In a nutshell, Dr. Minter acknowledged, what it all boils down to is our willingness to simply step out on faith, which seems to be the featured theme of her gallery of books.

And then there is her latest book, “Go Get Your Blessing,” a book in which she paired with her daughter to assemble and is nearly three years removed since its release.

“Our leaping causes us to reach and touch people we never imagined,” Dr. Minter said. “This process not only provides for others, but it provides something for us as well.

“I’m glad you asked,” Ray, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling when God had given her the vision to assemble her new book. “I actually started writing the book on March 7, 2015.”

After having spent the next three years or so brainstorming, Ray officially began composing “Unveiling The Mask: After The Pain” in November 2018.

A RAY OF BLESSINGS

***WELCOME TO YOUR NEW SEASON —*** Even while trying to reinvent herself and rediscover her God-given worth during her time in the wilderness, God began to reveal to Mid-South author Urica Ray her strategic assignment through her book entitled, “Unveiling The Mask: After The Pain.”

MHN: How did your competitive nature give way to your starting your business venture?

DR. TAYLOR: I am competitive by nature which resulted in me clocking 50.23 seconds in a quarter mile at Central High School (Memphis, TN) and 50.9 seconds at Maryville College (Maryville, TN). In addition, I started as a guard on the basketball teams of both schools. Ultimately, I am honored to have been chosen by God to encourage others to compete against sickness and disease, and to win health and quality longevity. Doing what I do is demanding, but being a quarter mile runner made me realize that ‘the race goes to him who endures to the end’.

MHN: How rewarding if your selected industry?

DR. TAYLOR: This field is rewarding in that I am instrumental in stoking people’s dilapidated bodies and minds back toward wholeness, through nutritional counseling and common sense approaches to health, i.e., drinking the right amount of water is as close to using common sense as one can get. Many health suggestions are so simple that it is almost foolish that people are as sick as they are.

LEAST HE FORGET

**VIRTUOUS WOMAN —** Amongts those whom Dr. Taylor credits for his immeasurable success is his mother, the late Mrs. Geraldine Miles Taylor, whom she says shaped and helped make him the man he is today.

MHN: What do you like the most about your venture?

DR. TAYLOR: What I like most about my field is that moment when a person’s light bulb, literally, goes off to where I see it in his/her eyes that they realize a large portion of their wellness is in their own hands, not the doctors’, not the counselors’, not the pastors’ hands, but theirs. Ding!! “AHA!”

MHN: What age groups do your business venture accommodates?

DR. TAYLOR: My business covers all ages, from a baby’s first breath to the dying person’s last breath. I make suggestions to new parents about the optimum food intake for infants, and I make suggestions to the elderly about their optimum diets for longevity. (Speaking of first breaths, I have been blessed to deliver four of my children, at home. More on that topic at a later date.)

From the time I was able to spell p-e-d-i-a-t-r-i-c-i-a-n, I wanted to be a doctor. However, in 1972, my father died from a stroke at the age of 52. I was overtaken by an angry, disappointed spirit of rage that the medical field had no methodical means for keeping him alive. I was in pre-med, and was so disillusioned that I abandoned that field of study. God has a plan, though, that He works out for his chosen people. I later realized that I was not supposed to become a medical doctor, but a health evangelist. Two biblical persons who were health evangelists were Elisha, who suggested to Naaman, the leper, ‘to go and wash in Jordan seven times. . . ‘(2 Kings 5:1-19), and Isaiah, who suggested to King Hezekiah to “take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered”. (2 Kings 20: 1-7) The ultimate health evangelist, however, was Jesus of Nazareth. The B.I.B.L.E.W.A.Y. to Health was written because there was a need for people to be able to have the eight basic laws of health at their fingertips. After years of expounding on the laws during “Health Revivals”, I saw the need for a book to be established for those who wanted to continue adhering to them. These are simple prescriptions for living a longer, healthier lifestyle with the potential of being disease free.

MHN: Any forthcoming speaking engagements or public appearances?

DR. TAYLOR: There are pending engagements on the 2019 schedule about which we will inform the readers. Currently, we are restructuring Right Stuff Health and, also, introducing a Blog that will be identified as the Right Stuff Blog. Also, we are becoming more engaged in the world of technological advancements, as we learn how to operate on the world wide web, i.e., Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

MHN: Why is it imperative that you esteem others daily highly than yourself?

DR. TAYLOR: It is imperative that I inspire others daily because I desire to pattern my life after Jesus, my Elder Brother; he was the ultimate inspirer and encourager as he travelled from town to town and from city to city. I love to travel, serving people as far away as Japan and the Philippine Islands. However, I desire to show those close at hand, too, i.e., in Memphis and the mid-South that the way to health and happiness can happen, one step at a time. My passion is to conduct more “health revivals” because that is the way the masses are reached. Health revivals are motivational seminars of health based on the Word of God, conducted to educate more people at one time. I have conducted them at churches and businesses; small churches and mega churches. My main scripture reference is 3 John 2 which states, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”. Hippocrates, the, so-called, Father of Medicine said: “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

Many people are under the impression that I condemn people who are not vegetarians or vegans to hell. That is far from the truth. (In simple terms, a vegetarian is someone who doesn’t eat flesh meat, but he eats animal products such as eggs and dairy. A vegan is a person who doesn’t eat any products from an animal). However, there are many scriptures that discuss eating habits and customs and dietary dictates. One of my most memorable sermons is entitled, “Where’s the Beef?” in which I point out that the main reason why people appear to not be able to survive without eating flesh meat is because of lust. The scriptures show us this clearly, i.e., Deuteronomy 12:15, 20-21.

Another note is that my wife and I will publish a cookbook in the future. It is being branded as The R.E.A.L. (Recipes Enabling Animals to Live) Foods Cookbook That project has taken a back burner to all of the other ones that we tackle, but it will provide simple recipes for the beginning cooks who just want to have basic information about foods that are good for a person’s body and good to the person’s taste buds. The principle of cooking applies to vegetarian dishes, also: Food needs to taste good in order to be enjoyed. Just as a person would not enjoy a bland piece of steak or chicken, the tofu or meat substitutes in the vegan meals need to be seasoned adequately in order to be enjoyed. We have sandwich features on our menu at Franco’s Fine Foods that include a third pounder “burger” sandwich; a loaded “polish” sausage sandwich; a savory “chicken” patty sandwich; a chopped “barbecue” sandwich, and a Philly “cheese steak” sandwich. Our specialty is the “beef” Mexican hot tamales. It is hard for people to believe that our signature recipes are likened unto all of the meats you like to eat made from oats, soy and wheat, but they have no blood or uric acid in them.

DISTINCT MAN OF VALOR

Our ministry is a tri-fold ministry that centers on health coaching, delicious and nutritious vegan foods, and one of a kind plant-based supplements that really work. And, yes, there are side-effects to these supplements: they clean your kidney, liver and bladder as they pass through the body. That was not the case; I believe that neither will that be the case in heaven; there will be no death; so, let us continue to believe that He knows what’s best for us in all realms of our lives, even in the realm of the diet for optimum health on this earth: Fruits, nuts, grains, and vegetables.

As for her latest milestone amid having defied the odds and silencing a few critics, McCrae thought it necessary to reference the familiar words to Romans 8:31.

“What’s special about defying the odds is this: If God be for you, He is more than the whole world against you,” McCrae said. “We say things like this all the time, but do we really believe it? Moments like this confirms that it’s not just cliché! There’s a difference between believing in God and believing God. A lot of people believe in God…that is that He exists and that’s good. But do you believe what He says?”

For what it’s worth, McCrae then recalled another familiar Biblical passage to support her argument as to why defying the odds is synonymous to her faith walk.

“The Bible says that those that come to God must believe that He is, and that He is a Rewarder of them that diligently seeks Him,” said McCrae, alluding to Hebrews 11:6.
