Dallas/Fort Worth barber Christopher Huckaby on his grandmother’s impact: ‘She gave me my first pair of clippers’

MAD SKILLZ

DALLAS — Christopher Huckaby doesn’t shy away from the notion that Bessie Carter Fowler undoubtedly is one of the best individuals with whom he’s ever crossed paths.

Come to think of it, if it wasn’t for Carter, well, let’s just say that Huckaby wouldn’t be here.
During a recent interview with Making Headline News, Huckaby recalled in great detail about how Carter, his beloved grandmother, had once enrolled in cosmetology school, but never finished.
That, as a result, fueled his desire to go above and beyond to maximize his potential while embarking upon his career.
“(She) went to cosmetology school, but never completed (it),” Huckaby explained.
Still, grandma — as only she could — deemed it necessary to see to it that her grandson would successfully carry out the lofty mission by which He instilled in her family.

“She gave me my first pair of clippers and wrote me a poem,” Huckaby said.

The poem, to his recollection, was rather forthright and direct.

It read: “A task great or small…do it well or not at all….”

The rest, as they say, was history.

Years removed from such a life-enhancing, gut-checking encounter with his grandmother, Huckaby has evolved as one of the best hairstylists in the greater Dallas Fort-Worth area.

A native of nearby Mesquite, Texas, Huckaby is owner and CEO of The Line Up Barbershop, located at 407 West Eldorado Parkway Suite 210 in nearby Little Elm.

“I put my all into every cut,” said Huckaby, summing up his mission for having chosen to delve off into such an ever-so-competitive industry. “Community service is important to me as a barber since I have a gift to give back and support my family.”

Given his notable track record in his profession, it’s safe to assume that aside from his grandmother’s wealth of wisdom and guidance, Huckaby was destined to become an efficient, dynamically-talented barber.

For starters, Huckaby enrolled at Grahams Barber College  Summer 2010, approximately four years after graduating from the Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Interestingly, he recalls like yesterday how he would routinely attend school on picture day and didn’t get haircuts, in large part because a majority of his of his summers were spent at his grandmother’s residence.

Still, it seemed that all wasn’t merely lost for this lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., whose haircut portfolio via message social media and message boards have drawn rave reviews from countless social media account holders, several of whom had ultimately become his clients.

Thank God for grandma’s poem, which read: “A task great or small…do it well or not at all….”

The rest, as they say, was history.

Given his notable track record in his profession, it’s safe to assume that aside from his grandmother’s wealth of wisdom and guidance, Huckaby was destined to become an efficient, dynamically-talented barber.

Texas businesswomen LaQuinnunique Marsh and LaSasha Bobbitt’s faith leads to opening of Beauty By Us LLC

BEAUTY FOR ASHES

TEXAS-SIZED IMPACT — LaQuinnunique Marsh and LaSasha Bobbitt are co-owners of Beauty By Us LLC, a black-owned beauty supply store and delivery service, that has become DFW fixture for providing an array of essential hair care items all across the Metroplex.

DALLAS — The ages of LaQuinnunique Marsh and LaSasha Bobbitt are separated by roughly six years.

But when it comes to their mindset as it pertains to the ever-so-competitive world of entrepreneurship, these two bright minds undoubtedly are on the same page.
“Knowing that investing time in yourself is most crucial, we both have always been too big mentally for a 9-to-5 (job),” Marsh told Making Headline News this week. “Being able to own your own business opens doors to being able to give back and help others come up with you.”
Much to their delight, Marsh, 33, and Bobbitt, 27, have joined forces as young, progressive businesswomen, both of whom are routinely giving back mightily as the faces of one of Dallas/Fort Worth’s up-and-coming ventures.
Marsh and Bobbitt are co-owners of Beauty By Us LLC, a black-owned beauty supply store and delivery service that has become a DFW fixture for providing an array of essential hair care items all across the Metroplex.

MORE ON BEAUTY BY US: https://www.beautybyusllc.com/

Located at 8700 US-380, Suite 502 in nearby Crossroads, Texas, Beauty By Us is a newly-erected establishment, one that’s owned by a talented business-oriented tandem that’s collectively utilizing their solid and immeasurable professional expertise to achieve their customer service goals and objectives.

Beauty By Us officially opened for operations on November 17, 2019.

“We are a very new establishment, but hope to take this as far as God will allow,” Bobbitt said.

Beauty By Us LLC co-owner LaSasha Bobbitt

As it pertains to enhancing their craft as rising business owners, Marsh and Bobbitt have emphasized, among other things, that fear doesn’t exist nowhere in their entrepreneurship vocabulary.

“Most people lead by fear of the unknown, the what-if-this-does-not-work, what-if-I-fail (analogies),” Marsh said. “We never had those thoughts. We always lead by the, ‘What do we do when we win?’ It’s important to us that we inspire others and let them know that we don’t come from a long line of business owners.”

Beauty By Us LLC co-owner LaQuinnunique Marsh

As this All-Star team of Texas businesswomen explained, their quest to starting a notable business was spearheaded by a crafty “idea,” of sorts.

“We had an idea we were passionate about,” Marsh said. “We did our work and we took a chance and opened (our business).”

Fortunately for Marsh and Bobbitt, it was a massive chance worth taking, given the sustained success they’ve enjoyed in such a brief time since they went full throttle with their endeavor.

“If we can do it, truly anyone can,” said Bobbitt, “and we are out to help and show people the way.”

Said Marsh: “Our inspiration comes from seeing others take risk and watching their reward. Coming up in the beauty supply industry should have always been backed by black women, who use and live the products. We are inspired to join the other women in this journey.”

Aside from overseeing the day-to-day operations of Beauty By Us, Marsh and Bobbitt have been become ambassadors in the community, a trend that figures to enhance their venture even more — much sooner than later.

“We are also very passionate about spending time with the less fortunate our people,” Bobbitt said. “We went to Downtown Dallas and took a lot of donated items and food we prepared and just sat and passed out items they need. It’s important also to let people know they are not forgotten about.”

“Being kind to others is free of charge,” Marsh added. “Giving your time is free of charge, so if you’re able, you should be willing. We plan to continue to go down and just spend time with our people on the streets during various events that we have.”

Interestingly, Marsh and Bobbitt said opportunities are available for other small businesses and vendors who produce products to be on display and sold in their facility.

“It creates visibility for them and an added selling point for them to say their product is now in stores, not just online,” Bobbitt said. “And it creates new customer opportunities.”

Just as it has done for them, this progressive and flourishing All-Star tandem of businesswomen.

Kenyatta Bell is destined to exemplify some agape love this Valentine’s Day weekend.

A longtime Atlanta-area businesswoman, Bell will be hosting what is known as The Epic Experience, a two-day empowerment event that will take place February 14-15 at the Allen Entrepreneur Institute, located at 3235 Evans Mill Road in nearby Lithonia, Georgia.
Powered by the Epic Management Group, The Epic Experience will commence with the She Matters: Valentine’s Edition, which is also known as The Ladies Empowerment Staycation. This two-day event will be feature two speakers: Radio host Jason Madison of LATC and author Leon Walker.
The Epic Experience will culminate with a formal event known as A Night Of Purpose during which the feature event will be the official announcement of Bell having been named Making Headline News Woman of The Year for 2019.

LOVE’S IN THE AIR

LOVE, PEACE, AND HAPPINESS — A longtime Atlanta-area businesswoman, Kenyatta Bell will be hosting what is known as The Epic Experience, a two-day empowerment event that will take place February 14-15 at the Allen Entrepreneur Institute, located at 3235 Evans Mill Road in nearby Lithonia, Georgia.

Also, A Night Of Purpose will include the official book launch of Kambria Hardnett’s “Matters of HER: A Millenial’s Faith Building Process.”

A University of West Georgia student, Hardnett is the daughter of Bell.

A book that is comprised of just five chapters — with the No. 5 signifying the spiritual number for the term, “grace,” this writer acknowledged —- Hardnett’s “Matters of HER” is spearheaded by the familiar Biblical passage that is Ephesians 2:8, which addresses the subject of faith in great detail.

Also, A Night Of Purpose will include the official book launch of Kambria Hardnett’s “Matters of HER: A Millenial’s Faith Building Process.”

“This book saved my life,” Hardnett, during an August 2019 interview with Making Headline News, said of a book that was written by the Apostle Paul. “It saved me spiritually, and I only pray that it does the same for someone else.”

A Night Of Purpose will also feature special guest saxophonist Antonio Allen.

“I want to encourage, empower, inspire, and love on my single sisters,” Bell said of her staycation event that is an invitation only affair. “I want women to be treated like the Queens and experience an amazing, life-changing weekend whereby we ignite  their true identity in a Christ and empower their purpose.”

Bell has garnered an overwhelming array of favorable feedback since she announced her event.

“We have received a lot of positive feedback about this event, especially being on Valentine’s Day weekend, catering to my single sisters who desire more.”

A native of Gay, Georgia, Bell is the catalyst for the Epic Management Group, an Atlanta-area ministry that was spearheaded on IHeart Radio B96.3 and is aired by way of a slew of airwaves.

Widely regarded as Epic Life Ministry, this company has launched a social media teaching — a segment that’s collectively conducted by Epic Life staffers Gina Beverly, Danielle Sunderhouse and Corey Watts — whereby it has garnered a global audience.

Interestingly, Epic Management Group has partnered with The Lighthouse Radio Station to host an array of what company officials describe as “epic life experiences,” most notably for middle and high school students.

Generally, Bell emphasized The Epic Experience two-day retreat is geared largely toward igniting one’s identity, as well empowering purpose and ministering to “my sisters,” many of whom have been broken and/or shattered, she said.

“On the day that is looked at as expressing love, I want to show love to my single sisters,” Bell said. “I want them to know that we can be treated like a Queen without lowering our standards and compromising our bodies.”

Alvin Johnson’s Hope Housing Foundation has emerged as one of Dallas/Fort Worth’s finest nonprofit organizations

A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (Psalm 133:1 KJV)

A RAY OF HOPE

TEXAS-SIZED IMPACT — Much to his delight, such a “fire” has appropriately given way to Texas businessman Alvin Johnson having emerged as the President of Hope Housing Foundation, his Dallas/Fort Worth-area nonprofit organization that went into full operations in December 1998.

DUNCANVILLE, Texas — Alvin Johnson knew exactly what he wasn’t doing to please God.

“I have had no role model to follow, but have prayed for mentors since I was about 35 years old, waking up realizing that I was not fulfilling what I promised God many years before,” Johnson, during a recent interview with Making Headline News said, recalling the past development that have greatly helped shaped his life as an accomplished businessman.
For Johnson, God had strategically introduced him to the divine purpose for which he was created, a life-altering memory that arose through a gallery of positive male figures.
“(God) allowed several men to come in to my life at different times that have helped develop me in to the man I am,” Johnson explained. “I am always about continual growth and participate in many high level mastermind groups that continue to fuel the fire within.”

“I’m in the people business,” said Johnson, explaining in great detail the keen passion he’s adopted through his venture. “We believe that everyone deserves to have a nice place to call home, in spite of the economic situation they’re in because of their decisions.”

Interestingly, Hope Housing Foundation has developed a solid commitment to meeting the needs of youths who are in dire need of a breakthrough.

“We believe that kids should grow up in an environment where they see people doing positive things…raising families and not just existing,” Johnson said. “That’s the environment we try to foster in our apartment communities.”

Armed with more than three-and-a-half decades of experience in the ever-so-competitive real estate industry, Johnson’s company has become an evolving fixture for purchasing what he refers to as “distressed apartment communities,” which has enabled it to deploy millions of dollars in to the asset, as well as provide people a place where they are afforded the golden opportunity to live victoriously instead of having to live just to exist.

“We also provide programs to feed the kids after school and have after school activities, as well as feeding programs during the summer when they are out of school,” Johnson said. “With this business model, we have built a 100-plus million dollar organization.”

Long before God introduced him to his divine purpose, Johnson had founded himself struggling to conquer arguably his life’s grandest obstacle.

“After a failed suicide attempt when my son was three (years of age) and I felt as though my family would be better off without me, I prayed and decided to allow God to use my life for His glory and help someone else have what they didn’t have — an opportunity,” Johnson recalls.

Years removed from having cleared arguably the biggest hurdle of his life, Johnson has adopted the notion that implies, among other things, his steadfast commitment of giving back.

And not just giving back for the sake of giving. But rather giving back as if his life depends on it.

But in actuality, it does.

“I believe that it is our responsibility to reach back and assist someone become their best self,” Johnson said. “It is our responsibility to become highly successful in order to do this. Memphis author Etoria R. Hampton’s spiritually gut-checking new book generating rave reviews

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18 NIV)

GODLY GROUP HUGS

DESTINY STEPS — An awe-inspiring book that is comprised of 88 pages in length, Etoria R. Hampton’s “H.U.G.S. For Prodigal Parents: “A Book To Encourage Parents Hearts That Are Enduring A Prodigal Season” was officially released in October 2019 and is centered largely on parents’ quest to embrace what this author deems their “prodigal season” or, as Hampton vividly explains, to help encourage other prodigal parents who are enduring a prodigal season with their child or children whether it be a teenage child or adult child to release, get free, be in peace, walk in strength, knowing that God can handle what we can’t handle.

Etoria R. Hampton wrote as if her life depended on it.

In many aspects, it did.
“God gave  me this vision to write in January 2019,” Hampton told Making Headline News during a weekend interview. “My pain as I endured an unwanted journey of becoming a prodigal parent is the reason I wrote this book.”
The book to which Hampton is alluding is tear-jerking, spiritually-empowering written work entitled, “H.U.G.S. For Prodigal Parents: “A Book To Encourage Parents Hearts That Are Enduring A Prodigal Season.”

A Mid-South-area businesswoman who is the owner of Toya’s Tea Shop, Hampton is widely known for her beloved nickname, “Toya Tea.”

It is, by all accounts, because of her newly-assembled book, that she has emerged as one of the authorship industry’s best kept secrets, considering “A Book To Encourage Parents Hearts That Are Enduring A Prodigal Season” has generated an array of favorable reviews in its brief time on the market.

Hampton’s book is available for purchase at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Walmart online, as well as her place of business.

“I have gathered numerous of inspired feedbacks from readers, who are being touched by my story,” Hampton said. “Some had begun to open up about their (struggles and hardships) and was thanking me for being transparent, even throughout the stages of anger, etc.”

To her credit, Hampton thought it essential to disclose the divine message to her reading audience through her new book.

“Always keep that child or children covered in prayer, but do not allow, nor tolerate absolutely no disrespect from that child or children,” Hampton said. “So throughout my book, I stand as an altar call (of sorts) that us prodigal parents need what churches don’t have — special prayers for us. Because what we endure is a war that other people don’t understand unless you have walked in our shoes…not even a pastor.”

While Hampton has yet to decide if she will write other books, she is hopeful that “A Book To Encourage Parents Hearts That Are Enduring A Prodigal Season” is constructed into either a stage play or, perhaps, a movie.

“It’s whatever God’s will is for me,” Hampton said. “This wasn’t an easy task to do — period. I’ve been doing my own promoting of my book on my social media pages, and I’m currently reaching out to local bookstores to allow my book to be on their shelves.”

With God, all things are possible, Hampton hinted, alluding to the rising and constant success surrounding her new book.

“Honestly, I’m still quietly trying to understand the gift and purpose in this (project) myself,” Hampton said. “But I’ve embraced other prodigal parents who needed this encouragement from my personal story. So with that, I just give God all the glory, knowing I wasn’t alone.”

All of which practically sums up why she wrote as if her life depended on it.

In many aspects, it did.

GOD’S LEADING LADY — For A’Londa Barber, a Dallas/Fort Worth area resident who is native of El Paso, Texas, she was afforded the golden opportunity sometime last year to take yet another massive step toward her destiny, courtesy of her book entitled, “Journey Of A Sista On The Downlow Volume 1.”

DALLAS — Nearly four decades — or 38 years to be exact.

That is the timeframe by which it had taken A’Londa L. Barber to admittedly come with the notion that God had strategically set her aside for His use.
“It took me 38 years to own up to who I was and to accept the life God had for me, because I spent so much time trying to live up to others’ expectations of me and who I should be,” Barber, during an interview this week with Making Headline News said, explaining vividly the memorable developments that had given way to her having composed a new book.

“So many times, we hear about a man being on the downlow, but hardly do we hear about women who are on the downlow,” Barber said. “I know my journey was not just for me, but also for others to hear me share my testimony through transparency so they can hear about God’s grace and unconditional love.”

A book that was officially published last spring, Barber’s “Journey Of A Sista On The Downlow Volume 1” depicts the life of an Indigo which, as mentioned in a detailed synopsis at Amazon.com, is a woman torn between her flesh and her spirituality.

“Like so many women, she was robbed of her innocence as a child by a sexual predator,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Barber’s “Journey Of A Sista On The Downlow Volume 1.’ “That unwelcomed introduction to adulthood led her down a path of promiscuity and eventually a bisexual lifestyle.”

Moreover, as she grew into an adult, this Indigo had ultimately turned to the church for support and spiritual guidance only to find that some of her harshest critics sat in the pews next to her.

A MUST READ — A book that was officially published last spring, Barber’s “Journey Of A Sista On The Downlow Volume 1” depicts the life of an Indigo which, as mentioned in a detailed synopsis at Amazon.com, is a woman torn between her flesh and her spirituality.

All things considered, this author vividly reminds her reading audience that where man failed, her Lord and Savior prevailed, she writes.

Simply put, this is, by all accounts, her memorable and much-anticipated journey to deliverance, one that proves you can rise after you fall as long as you have faith as your crutch.

Having begun writing the first installment of her book in 2018, Barber has announced that “Journey Of A Sista On The Downlow Volume 2” is presently in the works and is slated to be published in March 2020.

“No matter where you are in your life, accept it and walk in your truth,” said Barber, explaining the divine message she aspires to send to her reading audience in “Journey Of A Sista On The Downlow Volume 1.’ “Our purpose here on earth is to fulfill the plan which God has designed for us, no matter what man thinks.”

As expected, the feedback since the release of Barber’s “Journey Of A Sista On The Downlow Volume 1” has been nothing short of impression.

All of which much to the delight of this Christian-based author, practically sums up this book aligns with the divine purpose for which God has created her.

“Even though the book is fiction, it is based on true events of my life,” Barber explains. “This book is part of my purpose, because it allows me to tell my story of a sista on the downlow.

“So many times, we hear about a man being on the downlow, but hardly do we hear about women who are on the downlow,” Barber continued. “I know my journey was not just for me, but also for others to hear me share my testimony through transparency so they can hear about God’s grace and unconditional love.”

“It took me 38 years to own up to who I was and to accept the life God had for me, because I spent so much time trying to live up to others’ expectations of me and who I should be,” Barber, during an interview this week with Making Headline News said, explaining vividly the memorable developments that had given way to her having composed a new book.

A book series she hopes will ultimately be transformed into a stage play, Barber has announced the “We D.I.D. It Book Tour” is forthcoming along with a half dozen other authors during which they will share their journeys from tragedy to triumph, all the while inspiring others’ life transformation.

“As far as personal speaking engagements, I have quite a few scheduled, but between the book tour and LonnieB Creative Designs/Branding, I am pretty busy,” said Barber, a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and co-host of My SiSStas Keeper  online radio show.

A resident of nearby DeSoto, Texas, Barber is a member of Jubilee Community Church in DeSoto, which is pastored by Gregory Drake.

SIGNS OF THINGS TO COME

Having begun writing the first installment of her book in 2018, Barber has announced that “Journey Of A Sista On The Downlow Volume 2” is presently in the works and is slated to be published in March 2020.

Dallas’ Brandie Pyburn-Smith fulfilling her divine purpose as the face of Sisterhood Through God’s Plan, Inc.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. (Philippians 2:3 KJV)

PEACE OF GOD

DESTINY STEPS — Brandie Pyburn-Smith routinely goes to great lengths to exemplify that she has a heart for people. Consider, for instance, her unyielding agape love she steadfastly exhibits as the director and chief executive officer of B.O.S.S. Marketing and Sisterhood Through God’s Plan, Inc., which is her Dallas/Fort Worth-area non-profit organization she’s responsible for establishing.

DALLAS — If there’s one thing that virtually no one can debate when it comes to Brandie Pyburn-Smith, it is this:

She routinely goes to great lengths to exemplify that she has a heart for people.
Consider, for instance, Pyburn-Smith’s unyielding agape love she steadfastly exhibits as the director and chief executive officer of B.O.S.S. Marketing and Sisterhood Through God’s Plan, Inc., which is her Dallas/Fort Worth-area non-profit organization she’s responsible for establishing.
Having discovered her keen passion for speaking before the masses during her youth, Pyburn-Smith’s notable objective through her organization is centered largely on her gifts as a Christian Motivational International Speaker.
In addition, Pyburn-Smith’s organization customarily helps market women, most notably through empowerment whereby they are afforded the golden opportunity to create platforms, as well as showcase their business and products.

Also, Pyburn-Smith’s venture has become a fixture, in large part because of its REAL TALK LIVE, an empowerment session in its group that addresses real life issues, business-related subjects and, most of all, the goodness of God.

“The goal is to eventually open several homes to house women and children and assist them with education, financial stability, credit repair, and show these women and children that God loves them and so do we,” Pyburn-Smith, 41, told Making Headline News this week.

Pyburn-Smith’s endeavor began as a Facebook group approximately eight months, a venture that was comprised of 54 members. The organization has since expanded to 474 individuals, or as Pyburn-Smith acknowledges, “God-fearing, business-minded women that I absolutely adore and love.”

A native of Dallas who works primarily as an Operation Analyst, Pyburn-Smith doesn’t shy away from the notion that she’s been blessed mightily to function in her element, largely because God’s has strategically set her aside for His use.

“God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called,” Pyburn-Smith says without hesitation. “My life has been nothing but a ministry, a gift of many talents, and God has guided me to a path that gives Him the glory, but provides me with His purpose.”

The mere fact that God has singled out Pyburn-Smith to oversee the day-to-day operations of a flourishing nonprofit organization is something about which she doesn’t take lightly.

“I was chosen for the path I’m on and I’m so propelled to finish my God given race until the end,” Pyburn-Smith said. “God’s opening doors that no man can shut. I started this organization and business from a vision God gave me in church one Sunday. He said, t’s your race; run it well.’”

For starters, Pyburn-Smith’s endeavor began as a Facebook group approximately eight months, a venture that was comprised of 54 members. The organization has since expanded to 474 individuals, or as Pyburn-Smith acknowledges, “God-fearing, business-minded women that I absolutely adore and love.”

“We empower each other,” Pyburn-Smith said. “We are growing into the knowledge of God with each other and we are learning to support one another.”

NEW BOOK ON THE MARKET

A 1997 graduate of Dallas’ Lobias Murray Christian Academy, Pyburn-Smith is currently enrolled at Independence University, which based out of Salt Lake City, where she’s pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with emphasis in Human Resource.

In 2005,  Pyburn-Smith earned a trade license as a nail tech from State Beauty College. She later would become a Medical Administrative Assistant graduate at nearby Everest College in 2013.

Pyburn-Smith has announced the forthcoming release of her first book entitled, The Mess That Gifted The Messenger, which is scheduled to debut on January 31.

As for her thriving, progressive business venture, Pyburn-Smith credits her family, friends, fellow church members, and the Sisterhood Group STGP, Inc. for having inspired her to move forward diligently with her God-mandated assignment.

Now she convinced that Sisterhood Through God’s Plan, Inc.’s best and brightest days are well ahead of it.

“Yes, 2020 is going to be an epic year for us,” Pyburn-Smith said. “We have a fashion show were planning and a women’s conference. I have also been invited to speak at several events.”

Interestingly, Pyburn-Smith has announced the forthcoming release of her first book entitled, The Mess That Gifted The Messenger, which is scheduled to debut on January 31.

Having discovered her keen passion for speaking before the masses during her youth, Pyburn-Smith’s notable objective through her organization is centered largely on her gifts as a Christian Motivational International Speaker.

“This book is an awesome must read,” said Pyburn-Smith, whose written work is available as a hard copy or eBook for $10. “I feel it is necessary (to esteem other daily) because healing is a part of my life and I wouldn’t be where I am now if God hadn’t healed me,” Pyburn-Smith  added. “Women need to know daily that no matter what we endure, healing is for our soul and we are born to live until we die. I must encourage others daily, because it’s not needed, it’s necessary. My positive words can save a life or millions.”

After all, if there’s one thing that virtually no one can debate when it comes to Pyburn-Smith, it is this:

She routinely goes to great lengths to exemplify that she has a heart for people.

Los Angeles writer Derrick L. Faggétt makes his authorship debut in Soul Talk Volume 3

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV)

MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR

HE’S ALL IN — A native of Chicago, Derrick Faggétt has joined a gallery of writers to collectively assemble “Soul Talk Volume 3: Soul-Stirring Stories of People Who Let Go and Let God,” an intriguing and spiritually-empowering anthology that is spearheaded by longtime philanthropist and multi-bestselling author Cheryl Polote-Williamson.

DALLAS — Fortunately for Derrick L. Faggétt, the golden opportunity had suddenly arisen.

And, for a man who’s proven to be after God’s own heart, he did the most logical thing he sensed was in his best interest.
He seized the opportunity to put his immeasurable gifts on display.
“I started my own business in the year of 2015,” Faggétt, during an interview this week from Los Angeles with Making Headline News, said, recalling the awe-inspiring developments that led to his having delved off into the world of authorship. “And as part of building a rapport with my clientele, I would share my testimony — a.k.a. my why I decided to do something different…outside the box.
“As I begin to share my story around the country, I would always get various individuals expressing that I should share my story with a broader audience and or consider writing a book,” Faggétt continued.
And the rest, as they say, was history.

It wasn’t long thereafter that Faggétt’s authorship debut would ultimately come full circle.

A native of Chicago, Faggétt has joined a gallery of writers to collectively assemble “Soul Talk Volume 3: Soul-Stirring Stories of People Who Let Go and Let God,” an intriguing and spiritually-empowering anthology that is spearheaded by longtime philanthropist and multi-bestselling author Cheryl Polote-Williamson.

As Faggétt explained, he initially was introduced to the concept of becoming a co-author for Soul Talk Volume 3 approximately two years.

For what it’s worth, the opportunistic Faggétt is giddy he subsequently obeyed the Voice of God, a demonstration of faith that has given way to his having addressed in Soul Talk Volume 3 the subject entitled, “The Male-Man.”

“I guess in a nutshell, that was God’s way of telling me that I had permission, but it simmered for years until 2018,” Faggétt said. “The opportunity came knocking and I answered.”

For what it’s worth, the opportunistic Faggétt is giddy of that fact that he subsequently obeyed the Voice of God, a demonstration of faith that has given way to his having addressed in Soul Talk Volume 3 the subject entitled, “The Male-Man.”

“My message is that fatherlessness is a symptom of a bigger problem,” said Faggétt, who needed only three months to assemble his chapter. “This problem is their falling away from God‘s principles for the family and (fail to understand) what it means to be a kingdom man, or how to take steps to get the family back in God’s order.”

Interestingly, while Faggétt was raised without a father in the home, he still appropriately hints that notion shouldn’t merely deter the male to assume his rightful place in the home and in the Body of Christ.

“I would have to say the issue of growing up without my father,” said Faggétt, explaining why he elected to address such a pertinent subject. “(I wrote it because of) how many other men that I’ve had the opportunity to speak with who’ve been effected by fatherlessness, but don’t understand how to correct it generationally. Since most men are not at a healthy place to discuss it openly, I felt in some ways that since I went through it as well, someone needed to do something before it gets worse.”

The feedback, as expected, has been mostly favorable, Faggétt said.

“I have received very positive feedback — from men and women,” he said. “For example, (they’ve said) this is something that we need and that ‘We need more men like you who will speak the truth or admit there is a problem.’”

“As I begin to share my story around the country, I would always get various individuals expressing that I should share my story with a broader audience and or consider writing a book,” Faggétt said.

Now that Faggétt’s authorship tenure is underway, he has announced that he’s open to participate in any type of courses and or curriculum, most notably sessions that would center on helping or aiding in the behavioral changes for men.

“(We all can) agree that this conversation needs to take place,” said Faggétt, who recently established an organization known as Men of Fortitude. “Men have reached out asking how to get started or what can I do to get better or what steps can (they) take now.”

Aside from his newly-established organization, Faggétt has a few scheduled podcasts over the next few months during which he will promote his latest endeavor as an author.

“My plan is to acquire more speaking engagements as it pertains to helping men understand how to be men through Men and Fathers 101,” Faggétt said.

AUTHOR AMELIA E. FAGGETT

Faggétt’s wife, Amelia E. Faggétt, is also an accomplished writer, whose book that’s geared toward individuals with special needs will be officially released this during Super Bowl weekend in Miami.

Faggétt’s wife, Amelia E. Faggétt, is also an accomplished writer, one whose book that’s geared toward individuals with special needs will be officially released this during Super Bowl weekend in Miami.

“Parenting a special needs child is definitely a challenge, which is part of my blessing,” said Amelia Faggétt, who spent better part of a decade to assemble her book entitled, Life With A Special Needs Child. “Not many can do it. I didn’t think I could. I’ve had good days as well as bad days, but more smiles than tears throughout my journey with my daughter, Melany.

“She’s had more surgeries before age three than most would have in a lifetime. If I can help the next parent or soon to be parents who has a special needs circumstance navigate through it better, then I’ve served my purpose. These are just a couple of reasons why I wrote this book and why it’s so important to share.”

Georgia writer Dr. Angela Kinnel takes another monumental stride as co-author for Soul Talk Volume 3

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV)

BEAUTY FOR ASHES

KINGDOM IMPACT — A native of Dawson, Georgia who currently resides in nearby Hampton, Dr. Angela Kinnel’s chapter in “Soul Talk Volume 3: Soul-Stirring Stories of People Who Let Go and Let God” comes approximately six months after she appeared in Polote-Williamson’s “Soulful Prayers: The Power of Intentional Communication With God.”

DALLAS — For Dr. Angela Kinnel, forming a kingdom connection with multi-bestselling author and philanthropist Cheryl Polote-Williamson for a third time is what she appropriately describes as a “no-brainer.”

“I had such a wonderful experience as a co-author,” said Kinnel, referring to her valiant contributions to Soul Talk: Volume 2, which is spearheaded by Polote-Williamson. “So it was a no brainer when she presented the opportunity to be a part of Volume 3.”
As usual, Kinnel has been nothing short of remarkable in her latest authorship endeavor.
The Georgia-based author is responsible for having constructed the chapter entitled, “God’s Love: The Gift That Keeps on Giving,” which is her fifth published work to date.

The official launch and book signing of Soul Talk Volume 3 will take place in Dallas on February 15.

For Kinnel, it seemed she had little time to prepare for Soul Talk Volume 3 which, much to her delight, wasn’t a bad thing in any way, shape or form.

If nothing else, she’d be the first to admit that she was very much up for the golden opportunity to put her immeasurable authorship gifts on display — once again.

“I began writing my chapter about a year ago,” Kinnel said of her contributions to her latest project. “I took my time with this, because I wanted to convey my message as clearly as possible.  It took a few weeks of prayer, meditation, and editing to finally finish it.”

Not to mention her steadfast act of obedience unto God.

GOD’S LEADING LADY — As usual, Kinnel has been nothing short of remarkable in her latest authorship endeavor.

“I’ve been called to minister to the body of Christ, and God has allowed me to do so through books,” said Kinnel, explaining how her latest co-authored project is aligns with the purpose for which God created her. “If what I’ve shared thus far touches at least one soul, then I’m walking in the purpose that God set forth for me.”

Kinnel, by all accounts, is no stranger to the authorship industry.

In 2016, she contributed to “Identity: Who Do You Think You Are?” That book is co-authored by Robert Johnson and is a collaboration that centered on our identity in Christ.

She then co-authored Soul Talk Volume 2: Soul-Stirring Stories of People Who Let Go And Let God in 2018, during which she had written about Stop Cheering & Get In the Game! “I discussed how I overcame depression and began to cheer for myself toward pursing my dreams,” Kinnel said.

Last year, Kinnel contributed to Rise, Pray & Slay: Strategies To Heal The Land, which is co-authored by Linda D. Lee. Having written about “From Fear to Faith,” Kinnel said: “I discussed how I overcame the fear of becoming who God created me to be.”

Then last summer, she Kinnel was one of 52 authors who collectively assembled “Soulful Prayers: The Power of Intentional Communication With God.”

Last summer, she Kinnel was one of 52 authors who collectively assembled “Soulful Prayers: The Power of Intentional Communication With God.”

Kinnel’s chapter’s was entitled When A Parent Returns to God. “It’s a prayer that I prayed to God regarding the transition of my mother,” Kinnel recalled.

As for her latest written work, Kinnel emphasized she’s hopeful that her reading audience grasp a thorough understanding that God loves us with no conditions.

“He is for us and never against us,” Kinnel said. “As demonstrated in John 3:16, He loved us so much that He sacrificed His only Son that we might be saved. He thought we were to die for. There’s no greater love than that.”

Interestingly, Kinnel quickly acknowledged that there are “far too many Christians and nonbelievers” who are somewhat confused about how God feels about them, something she eloquently addresses in Soul Talk: Volume 3.

“Because of this, relationships with Him have become stagnant and crippled,” Kinnel explained. “After reading my chapter, I hope that clarity is manifested and relationships with God are renewed or established. I pray that every reader will take hold of the eight benefits I discuss that are available to us through God’s love.

GOD-ORDERED STEPS

For Kinnel, it seemed she had little time to prepare for Soul Talk: Volume 3 which, much to her delight, wasn’t a bad thing in any way, shape or form.

“Once you truly understand who you are to Him and in Him, your mindset will change and you will love yourself and others as He loves you.”

Just like her kingdom connection to Polote-Williamson, such a notion, too, can be appropriately described as a no-brainer.
