DALLAS — At approximately 10:24 p.m. CST on Sunday, Andrew Jackson, Sr. officially added yet another milestone to his illustrious pastoral career.
With God, his Helper, leading the way.
The Founder and former Senior Pastor of Memphis’ Faith Temple Ministries Church of God In Christ, Jackson, Sr., 81, was officially consecrated to the Office of Bishopric of the COGIC during its 110th Holy Convocation in St. Louis before an overflow crowd of worshippers that included several members of the South Memphis-area church he founded in 1969.
Jackson’s consecration comes a little more than six weeks after he was issued a formal written statement of his elevation from COGIC Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake.
Saying last week during an interview with Making Headline News that, “For me, it’s more of a position of honor,” Jackson, Sr. was one of 38 men christened to the church’s highest office, a development that comes a little more than a year after he retired as Senior Pastor of Faith Temple Ministries at 5191 Elvis Presley Boulevard in Memphis’ Whitehaven district.
A native of Grady, Arkansas, Jackson is an administrative assistant to Bishop Jerry L. Maynard of COGIC’s Tennessee Fourth Essclesiatical Jurisdiction.
