MAKING HEADLINE NEWS SALUTE TO GRADUATES TRIBUTES 2018
It doesn’t take much to inspire Elizabeth Jackson to engage in a rather compelling conversation about Amber Na’Rijah Curl.
“I am so proud of my first born granddaughter,” Jackson said of Curl, a senior at Houston’s Dekaney High School. “She is funny, smart, beautiful, and loving. She has shown herself to be a positive example as a big sister to her seven younger siblings and demonstrated faithfulness to her friends.”
In the coming days, those who have come to love and adore Curl wholeheartedly will find their way to The Berry Center, where she will be awarded her high school diploma during Dekaney’s commencement exercises.
For Curl, that she is about to achieve arguably her grandest milestone to date has given way to an overwhelming sense of joy to her beloved grandmother, who already has an idea of how she will respond once her oldest granddaughter’s name is called to receive her diploma.
“She did it,” said Jackson, rehearsing how she plans to respond when Curl’s name echoes through the loudspeakers during Making Headline News during its annual Salute To Graduates Tributes. “Thank You Lord for allowing her to finish what You started. This is the beginning of greatness. I can exhale for now. I’m overwhelmed with joy and so proud to see her walk across the stage.”
While her grade school days are all about to come to a ceremoniously end, no one is surprised that Curl is headed to Prairie View A&M this fall in relative impressive fashion, considering she had manufactured a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
For starters, Curl enjoyed what was a remarkably compelling high school tenure, during which she was a member of the Student Council, was a member of the varsity cheerleading and volleyball squads, and was a fixture in the school’s choir.
While at PVAMU, she plans to study Nursing and is hopeful to someday become an entrepreneur just like her grandmother.
“I would like to become an entrepreneur like my nana and, one day, help with the production of getting Ez Needle Multi Threader out in which she invented in 2014,” said Curl, one of 26 grandchildren to Jackson.
Looking ahead, Jackson is thoroughly convinced of the fact that because Curl was raised on a solid foundation whereby Christian principles had become a customary belief, she will undoubtedly become a positive, productive citizen.
“The sky is the limit, because she serves a God that has already made plans for her success in life,” Jackson said. “And it doesn’t matter where you come from it’s where you’re going that will impact not only your life but also the lives of others. All things are possible with God.”
