MAJOR MILESTONE
Another strategic ambition, another milestone reached by accomplished Atlanta businesswoman Tamara Charles.
As she revealed earlier this in a social media post, Charles is “beyond excited and blessed” of the fact that another achievement has come full circle, considering she is just hours away from witnessing the grand opening of Tamara’s Boudoir Boutique, as well as and her Unbroken Still I Smile lip gloss matte launch.
For Charles, a native of Port Au Prince, Haiti who is widely known for hosting her annual “Unbroken, Still I Smile Documentary” empowerment event, the opening of her boutique undoubtedly is testament of the immeasurable hard work she’s put in since she delved off into the world of entrepreneurship.
The grand opening of Tamara’s Boudoir Boutique will take place on Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. EST at 142 Mangum Street, Suite 14.
An event that will include Charles offering her own lash and lipstick brands, she will also have on display what her online hair store calls that’s known as Tamara’s Boudoir (www.tamarasboudoir.com).
The Founder and CEO of Sisters In Charge, Inc., her nonprofit institution that has become a fixture for aiding battered women with children, Charles told Making Headline News this week that her storefront launch had been in the works for some time.
“My personal mission is to inspire other single women or mothers,” said Charles, explaining the mission for her newly-erected endeavor. “My mission is to let them know no matter what tough times you may be going through, always keep a smile on your face and keep pushing and never let the negativity of others discourage you.”
Despite the occasional setbacks and obstacles that came with starting her boutique, quitting was never an option, said Charles, a devout woman of faith and mother of four (including fraternal twins).
“I’ve learned when people see that you’re not a quitter, you give others hope not to quit themselves,” Charles said. “I look at myself as a motivator. I love it when I encourage other women and show them if I can do it, so can they.”
An accomplished and flourishing businesswoman, Charles is a survivor of domestic violence and is currently living with multiple sclerosis.
Her personal experiences, by all accounts, have greatly equipped her with the keen knowledge to grasp a thorough understanding of the proverbial physical and psychological barriers, particularly as it relates to preventing women from leaving their abusers.
A graduate of Lynn (Massachusetts) English High school, Charles enrolled at Marian Court College, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Science in 2011.
Consequently, she acquired a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Health Care Management in 2014, and is presently working toward her MBA in Health Care Human Services while minoring in Nonprofit Organization from Strayer University.
Charles is the mastermind behind the book entitled, “Unbroken, Still I Smile,” a March 2017-released memoir that depicts her survivorship with sexual assault at the tender age of six years old, as well as recalling how she survived three domestic violence relationships and is now living as a “multiple sclerosis warrior.”
Charles’ book is available on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Kindle and E-Books.
Charles said her inspiration for opening her boutique was fueled largely by the women she’s aided previously.
“There are a lot of women I can name, but I will (keep that to) myself,” Charles said. “I was ready to share my story with the world. It took me 30 days to write my book and publish it. It was one of the best accomplishments for me to achieve. I became at peace within myself and started to fall in love with me and within.”
Now it’s on to yet another major accomplishments, the much-anticipated unveiling of Tamara’s Boudoir Boutique.
“I want to be a voice for the voiceless,” Charles said. “It’s my duty as a mother to my two daughters to teach them every day that sky is the limit. You can accomplish anything and everything you put your mind into.
“You don’t have to be jealous of the next woman, because of what she has going on for herself, because you don’t know all the sacrifices that she had to endure to get to where she is now today.”
Appropriately put by this, an accomplished businesswoman who, along with another strategic ambition, has reached yet another milestone she will cherish for years to come.
