A–O–KAY SWEETS
Mikayla N. Wilson is just 15 years of age, yet she’s wise beyond her years.
As if currently taking college courses isn’t enough to turn heads, Wilson has gone to greats lengths to make good use of her time in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Behind the unyielding support of her parents, Wilson has steadfast put her creativity on display with the startup of KaysSweetBoutique, her newly-erected Hartford, Connecticut-based venture that offers an all-star list of delectable sweet treats, most notably chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pretzels, and cake pops.
Given the immeasurable strides Wilson has made since her new venture went into full operations, chances are she’s almost certain to expand her menu of mouthwatering treats — much sooner than later.
As Wilson explained this week during an interview with Making Headline News, the type of business concept she created is ideal, in large part because many consumers are being required to quarantine in the confines of their home amid COVID-19, which means they are limited in terms of where they can go to purchase desserts.
FAMILY FOCUS
That is where the business endeavor of this resourceful sophomore sensation comes into play, says Wilson, who’s eager to help customers in her neighborhood and the surrounding areas satisfy their sweet tooth.
So much for the constant boredom that customarily comes by quarantining.
“Due to being quarantined, I found myself bored each day after completing my homework assignments,” said Wilson, explaining the awe-inspiring developments that ultimately fueled her desire to start a business.”
Wilson’s mother, accomplished businesswoman Tamara Mitchell-Davis, was amongst those who suggested her daughter give starting a business a try.
Surely, amongst the things Wilson has discovered is that mom undoubtedly knows best, considering KaysSweetBoutique has come full circle and, much to her delight, is open for business.
“My mom would always asked me if I was interested in starting a business and I thought about it off and on, but never took it seriously until now,” Wilson said. “I found something I enjoy doing and it allows me to be creative. I enjoy decorating the treats and trying new designs.”
A business Wilson started approximately a month ago, some of her decorative ideas came via Pinterest and YouTube and, course, with some occasional input from her mother.
So how did Wilson come up with the name for her newly established business?
“Why KaysSweetBoutique? The merge of my name with the idea of sweets and a boutique, because in a boutique, you can find a variety of things,” Wilson said.
Fair enough.
NEW BOOK ALERT
Wilson hasn’t been the only innovative member of her family who has been putting her brilliant gifts to good use while quarantining.
Her mother, Tamara Mitchell-Davis, announced the release of her her latest book, Blessed Not Broken: Journey To Finding Purpose In Marriage, Motherhood & Entrepreneurship As A CEO Wife.
An informative and empowering written work with the foreword by New York Times Bestselling author Lucinda Cross-Otiti, Mitchell-Davis’ Blessed Not Broken: Journey To Finding Purpose In Marriage, Motherhood & Entrepreneurship As A CEO Wife is an anthology that is comprised of 10 devoted authors.
Each writer shares her personal, life-altering stories of how they successfully found purpose through loss, trauma, and obstacles.
Mitchell-Davis’ third book to date, her latest project comes three years after she made her authorship debut with the release of GoalGetter: Strategies To Overcome Life’s Challenges.
Then, in 2018, Mitchell-Davis released Goodbye Fear, Hello Destiny, a spiritually empowering and life-changing project that was foreword by Joelle Murchison, the CEO of ExecMommy Group.
As for her newest published work, “These stories address resiliency, specifically to self, marriage and business,” Mitchell-Davis, the Visionary Author, told Making Headline News during a January 2020 interview.
Having emphasized she isn’t pausing on her divine purpose to inspire other women and wives to tell their stories, Mitchell-Davis has become a fixture for hosting an eight-week Writers Academy Program.
Mitchell-Davis announced this week she will be starting her next book collaboration project sometime next month.
