To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2)
DREAM CHASER
Come hell or high water, T. James Bennett did what he sensed was the most logical thing to do whenever he was faced with unfavorable situations and circumstances.
He steadfastly used them as the spiritual fuel, of sorts, that would greatly enable him to move ever-so-closely to his destiny.
“Well, honestly, I believe God has put me here for a reason,” Bennett told Making Headline News during a weekend interview. “I’ve been through several really rough patches in my life… could have died several times, but the Lord carried me through it all. My belief in a higher power other than man or myself helped me to realize that there’s more to life than being selfish or only for family.
“I realized that people gravitated to me like a moth to a flame. My charisma led people to either to love me or hate me, but in all that, I had their attention. So, the Lord continues to use me where He sees fit.”
For Bennett, a Savannah, Georgia-based businessman, amongst the notable things about which he discovered in recent years was that the Lord is using him fervently in the real estate industry.
A native of Kingston, Jamaica, T. James Bennett , 43, is a longtime real estate investor as the CEO and President of B Net Management Inc., Ocho Rios Villa Apartments, and Total Wealth Development Real Estate Investment LLC.
Also, Bennett is President of J & R Enterprises LLC, which operates Savannah’s Kool Vibes Pizza and Wings.
A business professional stint that spans 15 years and has greatly enabled him to established a working rapport with a number of city and high-ranking officials, Bennett’s entrepreneurship repertoire is comprised of what he describes as a portfolio of over 200 units, most notably apartment complexes, single family homes and commercial properties, which include a restaurant and daycare.
For Bennett, his rise to entrepreneurial success comes amid humble beginnings.
“Growing up in Kingston, Jamaica I was already in a rough situation,” Bennett recalls. “I was kind of like the black sheep of the family. I wasn’t spoiled like the rest of my siblings, so I realized at a young age, I must achieve (my dreams) on my own. So, that drove me to become sort of a perfectionist in winning at every venture that I had taken on and, if I ever lost, I took my losses as motivation not to lose again.”
Because of his immeasurable work ethic, coupled with his stick-to-itiveness, Bennett has managed to savor sustained success in his selected industry.
Armed with more than a decade-and-a-half of experience in the ever-so-competitive real estate arena, Bennett is a graduate of Jamaica’s Kingston College. Interestingly, he graduated summa cum laude from St. Leo University in Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems.
A business that services clients ranging in ages 18 to individuals in their 70s, Bennett’s companies are widely known for leasing and selling to first-time renters and home buyers.
“I also teach real estate investing to people in the same age brackets,” said Bennett, who owns properties in Savannah and the surrounding areas (most notably Tybee Island and Hinesville).
As for his personal mission for functioning mightily in his element, Bennett said his professional task essentially fall into two strategic categories.
“Building wealth for my family so they can have something to pass on to their kids and, secondly, to rehab properties, bringing back their lost value in areas where people have forgotten. I also love helping low-income individuals and individuals with credit issues to find housing where they could not before,” he said.
MAJOR IMPACT
All things considered, Bennett — the self-proclaimed black sheep of his family — relishes the notion that he steadfastly pursued his awe-inspiring dreams which, fortunately for him, have given way to favorable results.
“I’ve accomplished a lot from such a humble beginning, but I’ve never lost sight of where I’m coming from and where God wants to take me,” Bennett said. “I’m here for family, myself, and to inspire others to achieve greatness in light of life’s tumultuous situations. I’m God’s messenger, and I’m determined to break barriers that others thought were impossible or impassable, so help me God.”
