ONLY FOR ONE NIGHT
Danietté A. Thomas is destined to help high school seniors atone for what the COVID-19 pandemic has taken away from them.
The longtime Savannah, Georgia businesswoman has announced that she will be hosting Prom 2020: “The Do-Over,” a one-night event during which high school students will be afforded the golden opportunity to experience a 2020 prom in a safe and fun-filled environment.
An event that will take place August 1 from 7 to 11 p.m. EST at Savannah’s Grand Lake Club at 815 Southbridge Boulevard, the Prom 2020: “The Do-Over” will be highlighted by a night of dancing, food, photo booths, raffles and more, Thomas told Making Headline News this week.
“It’s a great community builder,” said Thomas, the owner and CEO of DANIETTÉ is a custom fashion design company that is widely known for empowering people to express themselves fashionably, most notably by being aware of current trends. “It gives back what COVID-19 took from us and sets the stage for a bigger and better senior year for Class of 2020.”
Most importantly, Thomas said the upcoming Prom 2020: “The Do-Over” is designed to offer an array of encouragement to graduating seniors.

Students who plan to attend this event must possess a school issued ID — “A school ID is acceptable for high school students or a state ID otherwise,” Thomas said — and bring face coverings, according to organizers for the Prom 2020: “The Do-Over.”
An event that is available for students ranging in ages 15 to 20, attendees are allowed to purchase tickets as prom dates, but they must come with their “high schooler,” Thomas emphasized, in order to be granted admission along with a valid ID.
“It’s an excellent marketing opportunity for businesses that lost (revenue) due to the lack of a prom season,” Thomas said. “It’s an opportunity for a bigger and better prom as opposed to select proms, depending on the school each student attends.”
Prizes will be given away during the Prom 2020: “The Do-Over,” Thomas said.
Also, organizers for this event will crown what is known as the “COVID-19 Prom King and Queen.”
For consideration, graduating seniors must submit a brief description on how they made the most of out of their senior year amid a global pandemic and how they will go about using this unique and unprecedented experience to propel them forward.
All entries should be forwarded to [email protected]. The deadline is July 25.
