She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. (Proverbs 31:16 ESV)
ON ONE ACCORD
Dr. Cheryl Edinbyrd knew years ago such a monumental challenge would seem virtually insurmountable.
Still, she was determined to persevere until she reaped favorable results.
“As a teen mother, I knew I would be faced with challenges, but was determined to keep my child and figure out a way to be successful,” Dr. Edinbyrd, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling, the memorable, sometimes stormy journey that has greatly enabled her to become a woman of purpose.
“Along the journey, I had to put my dreams, desires and goals on hold to be a mother. It wasn’t until I met my husband that I was able to have the support needed to start walking in other purposes in my life.”
Much to her delight, that Dr. Edinbyrd has been blessed with the right soulmate and benefited her mightily — both in the natural and the spirit.
An accomplished Dallas/Fort Worth-area entrepreneur, Dr. Edinbyrd is a certified professional midwife, a rising venture whereby she customarily celebrates her assortment of successes with her best friend and life partner who happens to be her beloved husband of 22 years.
For Dr. Edinbyrd, a licensed professional counselor supervisor, chemical dependency counselor, massage, and yoga therapist, paying homage to her husband — and vice versa — has become an integral part of her life.
“(He’s) the person who made sure our home was situated for me to spend time studying, driving, and waiting on me to test, and encouraging me to reach my goals,” Dr. Edinbyrd said. “Being on call was a breeze compared to the pain of misunderstanding and miscommunication experienced on this midwifery journey.”
Such an awe-inspiring journey, Dr. Edinbyrd acknowledged, hasn’t always been an easy one.
“Hubby had many days and nights listening to me cry, vent and (he would) pray with me regarding the disappointment and discouragement experienced by others,” Dr. Edinbyrd explained. “He had so much faith that when I felt like giving up, he spoke life into the greatness within me. Even though these last three years have been challenging, I wouldn’t change the experience. It is through the pain you discover more of your purpose.”
Aside from being a certified professional midwife, Dr. Edinbyrd is owner and operator at The Tree of Life Birth, Counseling & Wellness Center, a venture she established in 2012.
Located at 8035 East RL Thornton, Suite 328 in Dallas, Dr. Edinbyrd’s strategic services that are provided by a contracted staff include counseling, massage, yoni steaming, colonic hydrotherapy, life, lipo cavitation, facials, oxygen bar, sauna, calming space, fitness and health coaching, as well as nutritious smoothies and teas.
“We work with pediatric to geriatric,” Dr. Edinbyrd explained. “We work with individuals, couples and families and holding space allowing them to process in a way that allows them to be their best serves: mind, body and spirit.”
Dr. Edinbyrd said her business will be breaking ground this year in its new location in the South Dallas area.

Interestingly, Dr. Edinbyrd relishes the notion that her children and grandchildren have played a vital role in her sustained success as a businesswoman.
“My children inspired me to make and be a difference. My grandchildren have inspired me to continue to create additional streams of income and leave a legacy,” Dr. Edinbyrd said. “With all that I have and continue to do, I see a need to be positioned to pay it forward by reaching back and helping others who may be misunderstood, misrepresented and mistreated, to be able to provide to those who look like me the opportunities and to understand and the opportunities I’ve fought for to live life on purpose in abundance.”
Surely, Dr. Edinbyrd’s companion can greatly attest to his wife’s tireless acts of favorable deeds to those with whom she customarily crosses paths.
“He has truly been the person who had encouraged me to do and have whatever my heart’s desires as long as it is in lines with the will of the Lord.”
Indeed, it does, as evidenced by the immeasurable strides she’s made in recent years.
