A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men. (Proverbs 18:16 NKJV)
JOI TO THE WORLD
Some two years ago, Joi Brown was met by what was an apparent life-altering breakthrough, of sorts.
As Brown vividly recalls, it was an awe-inspiring discovery, one that could only be appropriately revealed by the true and living God.
“Two years ago, I decided to do a 30-day inspirational post on social media, and I received such favorable feedback,” Brown, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the memorable developments that jumpstarted her quest to becoming an author. “After the 30 days were over, God put in my spirit that I have a gift to inspire and empower people through my story. (I sensed), ‘I too, can be an author.’ Look at God, a year later, I am a first-time author and less than a month, I am working on my second author project.”
And what a remarkably compelling journey it is for Brown, a Waldorf, Maryland-based writer who is one of a gallery of co-authors who have contributed to Mitchellville, Maryland-based businesswoman Dr. Jennifer Jones Bryant’s Step Into Leadership Greatness: Leadership Isn’t Just A Title.
A highly-anticipated anthology that is scheduled to debut in March 2021 and foreword by Dr. Mary Huntley, Brown’s chapter is entitled, Conflict Resolution: Leading from Conflict to Collaboration.

“Being able to manage and resolve conflict is key to leadership greatness,” said Brown, explaining why she deemed it essential to join Bryant’s anthology. “Conflict is an inevitable part of our lives. It cannot, nor should it be completely avoided. It’s going to happen at all levels of our life — personal, professional, and within organizations. Conflicts will occur, but how you respond to them is vital to conflict resolution. (My chapter addresses the importance of learning) how to lead from conflict to collaboration with these seven conflict resolution strategies for leaders at all levels.”
Having needed a little less than a month to compose her submission to Dr. Bryant’s Step Into Leadership Greatness: Leadership Isn’t Just A Title, Brown doesn’t shy away from the notion that “everyone has a story to tell and as an author.”
For what it’s worth, she’s overwhelmingly giddy that she was afforded the golden opportunity to fulfill what has been a monumental dream for the Fort Washington, Maryland native in recent years.
“I want my chapter to educate, equip, and empower the reader to think differently and apply the strategies to their life…to be doers of the word, tips, or strategies,” Brown said. “I hope my work as an author will lead the reader to unlock their passion, purpose, and potential.”
In many aspects, it already has, thanks in large part to the fervent wisdom and guidance Brown had her disposal, courtesy of the anthology’s visionary.
“When I think of leadership greatness, Dr. Jennifer Jones Bryant is at the top of my list,” Brown said of Dr. Bryant’s influential impact. “Jennifer was my former supervisor in the federal government and has truly been instrumental in my leadership journey. I became a first-time supervisor under her, and what a great teacher, coach, and mentor I have in her. Jennifer taught me so many leadership lessons and demonstrated each day what true servant and transformational leadership look like. I called us the JB’s. I was honored to answer the call to be a part of her vision to inspire, encourage, and elevate current and future leaders.”
Now that Brown’s authorship tenure is effectively underway, amongst her strategic objectives is to pass along her keen leadership knowledge to those whom she senses needed it the most.
“I want to inspire future leaders especially the Generation X’s, Millennials, and Z’s that leadership is not about a title and that you can lead from where you are,” Brown said. “(I want them to) be a servant leader that impacts people and to be about people and not thy self.”
Besides Dr. Bryant’s Step Into Leadership Greatness: Leadership Isn’t Just A Title, Brown is a contributing author for Silhouettes of Strategies From Authentic Coaches For Mind, Body, And Soul, an anthology that’s comprised 13 writers, or life coaches with expertise in the following sectors: finances, health and wellness, personal growth and development, professional development, relationships, and spiritual soul coaching.
In this book, Brown’s focuses on the subject, The Transformation: Becoming A Healthier You.
“I am sharing personal tips and strategies on how to start transforming your body and your mind,” Brown explained. “I am a living witness and testament of what you can do when you have a mindset to transform and become a healthier you.”
Suitably known also as a career strategist, certified life coach, fitness instructor, professor, and entrepreneur known as the “Positive Energizer,” Brown doesn’t take lightly, she said, of how God has strategically handpicked her to fulfill her long-awaited authorship dreams for such a time as now.
JOI OF THE LORD
“I am thankful for the network of talented game changers and influencers of authors involved in this project,” Brown said of the forthcoming release of Dr. Bryant’s Step Into Leadership Greatness: Leadership Isn’t Just A Title. “I am blessed to be a part of this project. I am excited to become an international and bestselling author. The best is yet to come.”
Talk about an awe-inspiring discovery, one that could only be appropriately revealed by the true and living God.
