Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9 NIV)
YOU’RE COMING OUT OF THIS
If we’re being honest, it is a sometimes uncomfortable subject by which many become reluctant to address.
Not Sylvia O’Connor, though.
As the mastermind Sylvia O’Connor SOAR LLC, — her rising empowerment venture in which she serves as a life coach and motivational speaker — O’Connor has steadily become a fixture for customarily shining the spotlight on issues that would greatly enable people from various walks of life become better versions of themselves.
One of the most pressing issues, by her standards: the comfort zone.
“You never know what’s on the other side of your comfort zone,” O’Connor told Making Headline News during a recent interview. “It could be blessings, a promotion, a spouse, etc.”
As O’Connor recalls, her quest to vacate her comfort zone subsequently has given way to an overflow of blessings for the Baton, Rouge-based philanthropist.
“I moved out of my comfort zone after I graduated from high school and moved with my aunt to Detroit, Michigan because she wanted to see us do better,” O’Connor told MHN. “I grew up in poverty but knew I would not remain in poverty.”
It was in large part because of her aunt’s persistence in empowering her niece to see from beyond where she was that, by all accounts, ushered her to the place had diligently sought for year: her divine destiny.
Mission accomplished.
“My aunt is the one that helped me and supported me financially to help me achieve my goals,” O’Connor said.

And, because her aunt’s tireless efforts that were centered largely on equipping O’Connor to make her dreams a reality, this well-respected businesswoman has become greatly inspired to ensure others follow suit.
So, what are some key benefits for moving out of your comfort zone?
According to O’Connor, they are:
- You get to live life on your own terms.
- You can gain new knowledge and life experiences.
- You are in more control of your destiny.
- To Move out of your comfort zone can help you to grow i.e., move up in life and,
- It can help you emotionally.
“I have ventured into entrepreneurship. I probably would not have been able to do that if I remained in a dead-end job and career that I did not like,” said O’Connor, recalling how has moving out of her comfort zone has greatly enabled her to fulfill her purpose.”
In essence, the comfort zone issue, though it can be a very touchy subject — is one O’Connor customarily addresses, particularly when giving motivational speeches.
“I find myself addressing this often,” she said while referencing the familiar Biblical passages that are Isaiah 43:18-19. “We like to blame others for our failures, but we must learn to take control of our own lives.”
For what it’s worth, it all starts with one’s ability to vacate the dreaded comfort zone.
If we’re being honest, of course.
