TOO LEGIT TO QUIT
Avalon S. Brown is already exemplifying a great sense of excitement for her latest book project.
She doesn’t shy away from the notion that others will follow suit.
Come to think of, they already are.
“I know that there are people out there waiting to read this book,” Brown told Making Headline News during a recent interview. “The stories are very powerful. I knew I could not have been the only one going through unnecessary challenges in this profession.”
The book to which Brown is alluding is Nursing Is Our Passion: “We Can’t Quit,” her forthcoming anthology that is scheduled to debut this winter.

An intriguingly book collaboration Brown began spearheading in June, Nursing Is Our Passion: “We Can’t Quit!” is suitably dubbed an anthology that brings together inspiring stories from 12 nurses across various specialties, according to a detailed synopsis of this author’s book via https://buy.stripe.com/6oE003005b5dcec6os.
Generally, each co-author chronicles their respective challenges in nursing and why it never made them quit. Moreover, they also provide encouraging words for the next generation of nurses.

“Now that I have retired from nursing, I started thinking about the struggles and challenges I went through,” said Brown, explaining why she felt compelled to host an anthology that is centered on her chosen profession. “I began saying to myself, ‘I know there are nurses that have gone through some of the same things. Maybe different situations, but the same.’
“So, I began to reach out to Angie Bee (of [email protected]) and asked her if she would help me put together an anthology. She made a flyer, and we posted it on Facebook, and I called a couple of nurses that I am still in contact with to ask them to be a part of the anthology.”
Much to her delight, the propositions Brown offered surrounding her anthology were well received by a gallery of prospective co-authors.
AND IT CAME TO PASS
“I asked them if they would be willing to talk about any challenges that they might have faced in nursing, and how they overcame them,” Brown recalls. “And (I suggested that they) write something that might encourage the next generation of nurses that will be facing these same challenges. I was able to get 10 nurses from different specialties of nursing, to agree to write their stories. The book started out being an audiobook, but will now also have a paperback and e-book version.”
A co-author of seven collaborative books to date, Brown relishes the fact that she has been to host her first anthology.
“I have always been the type of nurse that was willing to help the next nurse coming in the door,” Brown told MHN. “I did not mind teaching them everything I knew. There were two Filipino nurses that poured everything they could in me when I was a new to help make me a great nurse. So why not return the blessing to someone else? I know God has put a lot of love in me over these years. And if I can lift someone up or help bring the next nurses up to their potential, that is what I know God wants me to do.”
Interestingly enough, Brown also recalls some wise counsel of her father, a life-altering memory she acknowledges has help fueled her desire to move forward with her anthology.
“My father always said, ‘When you get to the mountain top, turn around and reach down and pull the next person up,’” Brown recalls. “So it’s not about how others treat me, but it’s about how I treat them. This is why this book will be an encouragement to the next generation of nurses. When God gives us a passion, we need to hold on to it.”
Not to mention, pass some of it along to the next generation.
