WAR EAGLE OF EXCELLENCE
As if one postgraduate degree wasn’t enough to turn heads, Jay Vinson elected to run it back to and pursue a second one.
Mission accomplished.
Much to his delight, this esteemed Georgia faith-based philanthropist recently acquired a second Master’s Degree, a feat he achieved approximately six years after earning his first one.
During the December 9 commencement exercises for the University of West Georgia, Vinson emerged as a candidate for a second postgraduate diploma, this one in Sports Management.
CONGRATULATIONS, JAY!
A long-awaited milestone that had come to fruition a roughly a decade after he earned an undergraduate degree in Mass Communications (with an emphasis in radio, TV, and film) from Auburn University, Vinson relishes the notion that his hard work has finally paid off — this after the Lithia Springs, Georgia-based certified spiritual, health and wellness life coach had compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.68.
Aside from making his presence felt academically, Vinson was an avid participant in the College Sport Research Institute Case Study Competition, which took place on the campus of the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
To his credit, Vinson was also inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success in November 2023, weeks prior to his highly-anticipated graduation from UWG.
“I would say although it was a great journey and days where I felt overwhelmed due to so many other things I have been a part of and involved in,” Vinson, Making Headline News’ Man of The Year for 2021, said. “But I had a great support system to encourage me every step of the way. So, I was excited to hear my name called graduation night as all of my hard work and long nights paid off. I would say my drive, determination and perseverance of not quitting are a few things that are so special about how I endured so much leading to this milestone.”

Now, Vinson said, the time has come to delve into his chosen line of work, where he aspires to become more of a fixture in his own right.
“My plans now after reaching this milestone are to become a collegiate instructor and a sport agent, helping student athletes get to the next level in their career of athletics,” Vinson told MHN. “I am very proud of myself for pursuing and accomplishing my goal of obtaining this degree. Although I have worked for varies collegiate programs and professional organizations in mass media, I learned so much more throughout the sport management program, especially with how collegiate athletes can obtain an NIL and, most recently, where I reside in the state of Georgia high school student athletes can obtain an NIL for their name, image, and likeness. Also, (I’m destined to learn) how professional organizations and collegiate programs are operated daily.”
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
More than anything, Vinson doesn’t shy away from the notion that his unyielding faith, by all accounts, has greatly enabled him to fulfill his lofty goals and ambitions, as evidenced by what unfolded December 9.
“As long as I keep God first, I know that He will continue to connect me with the right people I need to be connected with when it comes to my goals, vision, and aspirations beyond post-graduation,” Vinson said. “This is why I believe the sky’s the limit for me.”
Indeed, it is.
Mission accomplished.
