She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still night. She provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. (Proverbs 31:14-17/NIV)
DIFFERENT YEAR, SAME RESULT
Make that two in a row.
For the second consecutive year, Dr. Marcea Burnette Whitaker, MD has named Making Headline News’ International Women’s Day Woman of the Year, becoming the first woman to ever accomplish such a feat since the media outlet’s December 2016 inception.
For Dr. Whitaker, a longtime Maryland Internal Medicine Physician, her latest honor comes amid a year in which she suitably describes as “exponential.”
“As I look over my timeline, I am amazed at what I was able to accomplish in 2023, and yes, it was exponential,” Dr. Whitaker told MHN. “As a speaker, I was able to cross international waters, speaking at the Global Impact Summit in Liberia, a women’s conference in St. Maarten, and I participated in a book project in South Africa.”
SALUTING WOMEN WHO SHAPE OUR WORLD
Originally called the International Working Women’s Day, this day is celebrated annually on March 8 and customarily commemorates the movement for women’s rights.
According to https://www.internationalwomensday.com/, organizations and individuals around the world have collectively become committed to helping women and girls achieve their ambitions, challenge conscious and unconscious bias, as well as call for gender-balanced leadership and value women and men’s contributions equally.

In addition, this day was designed in part to create inclusive flexible cultures. From awareness-raising to concrete action, organizations rallied their people to pledge support to help forge gender parity on International Women’s Day and beyond, according to a spokesperson for IWD.
A Master Destiny Life Coach who is the face of In Full Bloom Health and Life Coaching and Girl Boss Life Academy, Dr. Whitaker garnered high praise this year during which served as a media sponsor in 2023 and was afforded opportunities to interview celebrities, Cedric The Entertainer and Tichina Arnold during the 25th Anniversary Super Bowl Soulful Celebration.
“I am a member (Black Door Society),” Dr. Marcea told MHN during a February 2024 interview, describing her relationship with Black Door Society president and founder, Sharrarne Morton, who paved the way to her landing such an opportunity. “(Morton) opened the door for this opportunity to represent her and SiriusXM on the call.”
“I delivered my event, Girl Boss On The Rise, which is one of my signature women’s empowerment events.”
Prior to her notable milestone leading to Super Bowl week, Dr. Whitaker in late 2023 interviewed renowned singer and songwriter, Raheem DeVaughn, via SiriusXM.
Not to be outdone, this esteemed medical professional-turned-philanthropist witnessed the ceremonious launch of Up Sis, Up, her radio show that aired via the Mega Source Entertainment Network.
Interestingly enough, Dr. Whitaker’s latest milestone comes amid what was somewhat a challenging 2023.
As usual, she steadfastly persevered with God, her Helper, steering the way.
“Was it a whirlwind? Was it challenging? Felt overwhelmed making it all happen? Yes. And yes,” Dr. Whitaker said. “I’ve been through struggles, both personally and professionally, but I know my purpose and I walk in it every day. Quitting is not in my DNA.”
When asked what her immediate reaction upon learning was that she had been named Making Headline News International Women’s Day Woman of the Year for the second time in as many years, Dr. Whitaker said:
“I recall walking past a picture of Oprah in the Atlanta airport. I said to myself, ‘I don’t want to be Oprah, but I want to have an Oprah-like impact.’ So, the honor of being named Making Headline News International Women’s Day Woman two years in a row is unbelievable. Words cannot really express the joy of knowing what I do not only impacts me and those I coach personally, but it impacts those even globally. Now that is true purpose. That is true inspiration and that is priceless.”

Looking ahead, Dr. Whitaker emphasized, among other things, she destined to continue empowering women to broaden their horizon and maximize their potential.
That, after all, strategically aligns with the divine purpose for which God created her, she acknowledged.
“Life coaching is my passion and, as I look ahead, I see myself speaking on platforms that bring together — more professional women who are ready to discover who they, decide what they want, and eagerly want help to deliver on their destiny,” Dr. Whitaker told MHN. “In the journey called life, we sometimes find ourselves living underneath our potential. But there is so much more women’s history to make.”
Spoken like a true trailblazer whom, much to her delight, has made it two in a row.
