And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. (Joel 2:25/KJV)
ONE SHINING MOMENT
DALLAS — For Dr. Dannah McKellar Ntaka, this past year was centered in large part on her fervent quest of steadfastly coming for all that God had for her.
Mission accomplished for this esteemed Dallas/Fort Worth philanthropist, who has named Making Headline News’ International Women’s Day Woman of The Year for 2024.
“This (past year) has definitely been a banner, memorable year for our company and for me on a personal level,” Dr. Nataka told MHN as part of its Women’s History Month national coverage. “I would sum up 2023 as a year of restoration.”
Originally called the International Working Women’s Day, this day is celebrated annually on March 8 and customarily commemorates the movement for women’s rights.
SALUTING WOMEN WHO SHAPE OUR WORLD
According to https://www.internationalwomensday.com/, organizations and individuals around the world have collectively become committed to helping women and girls achieve their ambitions, challenge conscious and unconscious bias, as well as call for gender-balanced leadership and value women and men’s contributions equally.
In addition, this day was designed in part to create inclusive flexible cultures. From awareness-raising to concrete action, organizations rallied their people to pledge support to help forge gender parity on International Women’s Day and beyond, according to a spokesperson for IWD.
For Dr. Ntaka, her rise to achieving her latest honor comes amid a year in which she witnessed the manifestation of
God in ways unimaginable.
“This past year was one of most memorable years for me because we doubled our revenue-building goals,” said Dr. Nataka, the founder and CEO of The Campus of Care Healthcare Corporation, her featured business endeavor that has become a fixture for finding cures for women’s issues, particularly from pre-menarche to post-menopause. “We fully renovated the two facilities, which house our mothers and children.”
In addition, Dr. Ntaka garnered high praises for spearheading the Second Annual Global Women’s Healthcare Summit, a three-day virtual empowerment assembly she established during the unprecedented global pandemic.
An event that featured panelists and contributors who assembled in The Campus of Care’s Research Institute lecture hall, Dr. Ntaka emphasized her summit is designed in large part to educate the public and debunk many scientific untruths that were circulating on social media and the internet.
“Educating the public about health-related issues falls under the four pillars upon which The Campus of Care Global Healthcare Corporation is built,” Dr. Ntaka told MHN during a July 2023 interview.
Our 18th year (of my organization’s existence) was truly memorable and will be a challenge to duplicate.
Other notable achievements that unfolded throughout 2023 includes the ongoing expansion of her website for Dr. Ntaka’s featured business endeavor, one that resulted in what she suitably refers to as the Four Foundational Pillars for which The Campus of Care is built.
“Our website features a virtual resource center, which lists culturally competent medical providers of color, black-owned medical facilities such as labs and urgent care centers, and a plethora of other businesses, which are owned by and serve marginalized communities,” Dr. Ntaka said. “The Maternity Care Coalition is our specialized home care service for women, which is our why. In previous years, our cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) classes and other public health workshops have been the services that fund our maternal health initiatives, including the Maternity Care Coalition.
AND IT CAME TO PASS
“This is our main reason for being in business — to serve birthing people and families in the postpartum period. This year is the first year that our Social Entrepreneurs’ Initiative (SEI) emerged as the largest revenue builder for the institute. This year, tuition from the SEI has fully supported the salaries of our doulas, student midwives, medical nannies, and biohazard technologists.”
Continued Dr. Ntaka:
“We are proud of our work of empowering women and entrepreneurs from underserved communities. In our maternal health research institute, we have a strong focus on the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). Financial constraints can affect blood pressure and anxiety. We are delighted to have enrolled nine new Social Entrepreneurs on our initiative. We go above and beyond the call of duty to develop and promote our tuition-paying Social Entrepreneurs.”
