‘IT’S WORKING’
If we’re being honest, Dr. Jane Mukami Githehu was only being honest.
“At first, I was in disbelief,” Dr. Githehu recalls. “How could I, an average student who refused to get a Master’s Degree, be receiving an honorary doctorate? I got a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and worked in technology for 18 years. My work was good, but my passion for health and wellness lit me up.”
Nearly two decades removed from having acquired an undergraduate degree, Dr. Githehu’s unlikely milestone has all but become a massive reality as this Atlanta-area businesswoman was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy from the prestigious Trinity International University of Ambassadors and was christened with the honor during a recent ceremony in Atlanta.
Also, Dr. Githehu acquired the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and the United Nations Pioneer of Peace Award during the event that was centered on honoring nominated individuals who have enriched the world to recognize their distinctive achievements, contributions to society or entrepreneurial efforts.

SALUTING WOMEN WHO SHAPE OUR WORLD
Considered the highest honor a university can bestow, universities typically waive the usual degree requirements to award honorary doctorates.
“This honorary doctorate is an affirmation, a god-wink, that I am on the right path and that the best is yet to come,” Dr. Githehu told Making Headline News during a recent interview. “I celebrated 10 years on graduation weekend since I launched my purpose business online and decided to pursue my passion — serving women globally and helping them with health and weight loss. I am fired up and excited about the future because of being nominated to receive the TIUA honorary doctorate.”
At some point during the ceremony, Dr. Githehu recalls vividly being overcome by emotions.
For all the right reasons, too.
“A few moments struck a chord and had me in tears…Dr. Hamm,” Dr. Githehu told MHN. “(I told myself) ‘God sent you here as a gift to the world.’ God says, ‘Because I know that greater is in you, I will skip you to the front of the line.’ Dr. Hamms’ words helped me see how man’s impossible is God’s way of showing up and making it possible.
“In my case, getting a doctorate was never in my dreams because I felt limited academically. (According to) Brandi Harvey: ‘In this season of your life, when you get an opportunity to show up for God’s ocean of blessings, leave the teaspoon at home and show up with buckets.’ This message inspired me to fully step into my greatness and purpose with confidence and faith. When Doctor Yvonne sang William Murphy’s, It’s Working, that hit home. All the words hit home because that is exactly how I felt. It’s been 10 years of following my heart, and there I was, in a room I thought I would never be in, receiving an honor I wouldn’t have qualified for.”

An esteemed nutrition-based weight loss expert who has become a fixture for serving women, Dr. Githehu doesn’t shy away from the notion that she senses her latest milestone will afford her the golden opportunity to grow her business in a variety of ways, most notably “tapping into other industries and building strategic partnerships so I can reach and impact more lives,” she acknowledged.
Dr. Githehu’s rise to achieving entrepreneurial success comes amid humble beginnings, she explained.
“Life has not been easy,” Dr. Githehu said. “(I’ve endured) domestic abuse. Divorce. Losing a sibling to suicide. Losing a pregnancy. (But the definition of) resilience means this: Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in my darkest hours and having unshakeable faith, knowing that everything always works out in moments of turmoil as long as I do not give up.”
SEASON OF A REBIRTH
A first-generation college graduate, Dr. Githehu said acquiring a doctorate degree is the beginning of breaking barriers, obliterating generational curses that no longer stand a chance, not to mention elevating the standard for future generations.
“I know that many opportunities will present themselves also as a result of the doctorate,” Dr. Githehu said.
