DALLAS — Longtime Chicago educator Paula M. Karll will be named Making Headline News’ International Women’s Day Woman of The Year For 2025, the Dallas/Fort Worth-based media outlet announced on Wednesday.
An official announcement will be made in early March.
An esteemed Special Education instructor whose career in the education sector spans more than a decade, Karll has garnered high praise of late as an accomplished author of three books, most notably The Adventures of Ellie and Eve: Ellie Meets A New Friend.
An award-winning children’s book author, Karll is the Founder of Donate Knowledge, a rising nonprofit organization that has become a fixture for customarily donating books to those less fortunate communities.
Also, Karll’s organization is designed to promote foster literacy and inclusion awareness.
A well-respected mentor, motivational speaker, children’s literacy advocate, and diverse-learner educator and strategist, Karll is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, the Black Caucus of the American Library Association, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
A graduate from Trinity Christian College with a Master’s Degree in Special Education, Karll boasts extensive experience working with parents, educators, and schools to help provide supportive services for diverse learners.
Last year, longtime Maryland medical professional Dr. Marcea Burnette Whitaker, MD was named Making Headline News’ International Women’s Day Woman of the Year for the second consecutive year, becoming the first woman to ever accomplish such a feat since the media outlet’s December 2016 inception.
