LET HIM COOK

Lakina Sidney would be the first to suggest that 2025 has been a banner year, of sorts, not just for her son, Cameron Cook, and his beloved wife, Adrienne Cook, both of whom exchanged nuptials on October 17.
As far as Sidney is concerned, this year also is shaping up to be a memorable one for Cameron “Deuce” Cook, her adorable 10-month-old grandson who is in the running for Baby of The Year Vote Contest 2025.
Powered by Colossal — a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need — Deuce is currently first in a rather intense, tightly-contested nationwide race as the quarterfinals near an end on Thursday at 9 p.m. CST.
Daily voting and donations can be cast at https://babyoftheyear.org/2025/cameron-25c1?fbclid.

Generally, through its popular online competitions, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact. If Deuce wins Baby of The Year, the Houston, Texas infant will become the beneficiary of an in-depth feature in Variety magazine’s advertorial and as well as a $25,000 grand prize.
A native Memphian, Sidney has steadfastly gone to great lengths to spearhead Deuce’s Baby of The Year campaign, routinely staging voting links and notable daily reminders via her social media platforms.
“Cameron is the sweetest little guy with the biggest smile,” per a detailed introduction of Deuce via his Baby of The Year campaign page at https://babyoftheyear.org/2025/cameron-25c1?fbclid. “At just 10 months, he already adores his big sister and loves bonding time with daddy watching sports. He’s curious about everything — especially food — and wants to try whatever mommy and daddy are eating. His joyful, loving nature shines through in everything he does.”
Deuce’s parents said coming away with the $25,000 grand prize would be a “life-changing” turn of events for their family.
“It would ease financial pressures, giving us a peace of mind and allowing us to focus on what matters most — watching our baby grow, laugh, and reach milestones,” the Cooks’ said. “This gift would also help us build a stronger foundation for the future, creating stability, supporting education, and giving our child the opportunities to thrive. More than money, it means freedom to pour more love and joy into raising our little ones.”

During an interview this week with Making Headline News, Sidney — who refers to her grandson as a “Texas rising star” — emphasized the Baby of The Year Vote Contest 2025 isn’t just about winning.
“It supports an amazing charity that helps families and babies in need,” Sidney said. “Every vote celebrates Deuce’s joyful spirit while also giving back and making a difference for other little ones. We’re proud to share his light and support a cause that lifts up families everywhere.”
When asked what’s so special about being what she suitably describes as Deuce’s “MiMi,” Sidney said:
“Being Deuce’s MiMi is truly one of the greatest blessings of my life. He came in with that big personality and that sweet little smile and melted my heart instantly. He brings me joy, purpose, and softness in ways I didn’t even know I needed, and I love showing up for him every step of the way. I love him so much.”
Interestingly enough, Sidney doesn’t shy away from the notion that she is forever grateful to God for blessing her to witness the ceremonious expansion of her family.
“I am so incredibly proud not just of the newlyweds and our sweet baby, Deuce, but of the man my son has become,” Sidney told MHN. “Watching him step confidently into his purpose with an amazing career, and now as a husband and father, warms my heart on a different level. It’s a beautiful confirmation that we did something right. Seeing him build a life rooted in love, responsibility, and family makes me grateful, proud, and full all at the same time. God is all kinds of good.”
GRAND SUNSHINE

As Baby of The Year Vote Contest 2025 approaches its home stretch, Sidney is steadily issuing a plea to the general public to cast daily votes for her grandson whom, much to his delight, finds himself very much in the thick of things.
“Thank you to everyone voting for our baby, Deuce,” said Sidney, whose periodic social media posts are accompanied by the hashtag, #VoteforDeuce. “The love has been real, and we appreciate every single vote and share. We’re showing up, we’re showing out, and we plan on finishing strong, so keep those votes coming.”
Especially in the wake of what could be appropriately dubbed a banner year for the ages.
