The Prayer Summit is eight years removed since its notable inception.
Still, the primary focus undoubtedly is the same.
That is, people from across the nation and other countries will descend upon a single venue, in large part because they are desperate for change and healing of nations, according to Prayer Summit organizer Paula Ratchford.
This year’s event, which will take place June 23-25 in Memphis at the Crowne Plaza Memphis East, located 2625 Thousand Oaks Boulevard, once again will allow individuals the golden opportunity to receive strategies to pray or, the proverbial “effectual fervent prayers,” according to Ratchford, as well become equipped as an agent of transformation for families, communities, and nations.
In addition, this three-day conference that will begin at 6 o’clock nightly with corporate prayer followed by a worship service at 7, will be highlighted by an array of guests, most notably Apostle Charles Abraham of Man, West Virginia, Bishop Jacqueline E. McCullough of Pomona, New York, Bishop Sidney P. Malone of Memphis, Dr. Sabrina D. Black of Detroit, Apostle Yolanda Stith of Baltimore, Psalmist Sharon Jackson of Marietta, Georgia, and Pastor Leroy Scott of Zachary, Louisiana.
As usual, several churches throughout the region will support this conference, most notably Faith Temple Ministries COGIC (Pastor Emeritus Andrew Jackson, Sr.; Pastor Ivory and Lisa Jackson), Rising Sun Outreach Minstries (Pastor Aaron Campbell), Living Word Ministries Memphis (Apostle Derrick and Chanielle Talbird), West Irving COGIC (Superintendent Andrew and Sandra Jackson, Jr.), and Victorious Faith Ministries (Superintendent Samuel and Barbara Sago).
“What began as a vehicle for individuals to pray together was transformed into a gathering of people from across the nation and other countries at one venue because they are desperate for change and healing of nations,” Ratchford told Making Headline News during a weekend interview. “Politicians and government programs cannot address the root cause of societal ills, which is the moral decay and decadence that occurs when individuals do things their own way rather than be directed by a sovereign God.”
Powered by Paula Ratchford Ministries, regular registration for Prayer Summit runs through June 18 and cost $90. Late and on-site registration is $105.

“Every battle or situation encountered is handled in the place of origin, the spirit,” Ratchford added. “Prayer transcends time and space, allowing the limitations of human reasoning to be dismantled, dislodged, and displaced as God answers by fire. Therefore, when individuals convene with the sole purpose of pulling down strongholds and advancing the Kingdom, the plans and purposes of God will be fulfilled.”
In addition, what Ratchford deemed one of the most important components of the Prayer Summit is the informative entity known as GoVertical™, which is a dedicated youth developmental track for ages ranging in four to 21.

“The adage, ‘Youth are the hope for the future,’ is not just a quaint saying,” Ratchford said. “It is essential that Biblical principles are imparted into youth so that they can become compassionate and caring leaders that positively impact this and future generations. During (that) weekend event, youth will dialogue on spiritual, social, and academic matters in intimate settings and age appropriate classes.”
Also, Ratchford, while referencing Isaiah 8:18, emphasized that GoVertical™ will be comprised of a host of guest speakers and will offer specialized music and prayers that define a generation that seeks the Lord.
Aretha Young of Dallas has been a fixture with Prayer Summit for a little more than five years, works primarily under the registration and finance umbrellas for this event, and was recently appointed to the Prayer Council Committee.
When asked why this event is resourceful, particularly as it pertains advancing the Kingdom, Young said, “Prayer Summit stretches adults to become strong, prayerful leaders in their homes and communities. They are also extremely instrumental in the lives of youth with Godly training, guidance and wisdom for the challenges they face in our current society. I’ve watch people’s lives change and healing take place during Prayer Summit because of the power of Prayer.”
