Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37 NKJV)
MAKING DADDY PROUD
Sadly as it is to say, Dr. Marcea B. Whitaker’s father passed away before he could ever write a book.
His beloved daughter, however, would ultimately fulfill that which her father never encountered.
No doubt, Dr. Wilbur Holloway Burnette is in heaven, smiling from ear-to-ear amid his baby girl’s latest memorable milestone.
“Since my father’s death, I’ve always wanted to write a book about my father, mainly because he always said with such passion that he wanted to write a book,” Dr. Whitaker told Making Headline News this week.

And so it came to pass, Daddy’s Girl: Living After The Loss of A Legend, the highly-anticipated Amazon No. 1 bestseller anthology that is orchestrated by Dr. Whitaker, a longtime Maryland philanthropist and internal medicine physician.
A collaborative written that had created a fervent buzz across various message boards and social media platforms long before its ceremonious release this week, Dr. Whitaker’s Daddy’s Girl: Living After The Loss of A Legend undoubtedly is as good as advertised and figures to be an intriguing read for years to come.
“I felt that would be my way of honoring his life and his legacy,” Dr. Whitaker said of her newly-released anthology that is comprised of 10 co-authors, adding that her father was a well-revered dentist and friend to many. “The opportunity came when one of the co-authors, Michelle Edelen, lost her father suddenly. As each co-author shared encouragement and their story of loss, it was clear that there was a common thread and something needed to come out of it. I suggested we do this project together, and then God downloaded the title and subtitle and here we are.”
In essence, Dr. Whitaker emphasized, among other things, that Daddy’s Girl: Living After The Loss of A Legend is purposed in large part as a strategic, memorable way to honor her father, all the while uplifting other women who are faced with a similar challenge of living after the loss of their “father, hero, and protector,” she said.

“Delivered with compassion and kindness, Daddy’s Girl: Living After The Loss of A Legend provides readers support, comfort, encouragement, and understanding as they navigate life after the loss of the legend,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Dr. Whitaker’s anthology. “We celebrate our daddies, the memory of their spirit, the moments of their love, and the magnificence of their strength in its many iterations and complexities.”
CREATING A BUZZ
Interestingly enough, Dr. Whitaker’s Daddy’s Girl vividly unleashes what this visionary author describes as a tidal wave of healing awareness, one that appropriately gives a voice to a massive population of women struggling to move beyond the loss in the face of their daddy’s absence.
“We had an aggressive deadline and I started August 2022,” said Dr. Whitaker, explaining the memorable developments surrounding the production of her collaboration book project. “It took about two weeks from start to finish. The book unleashed feelings that had been sequestered, compartmentalized, and forgotten, but it also allowed the healing to happen. My parents’ death was tragic. They ran into the back of a tractor trailer. No closure, no goodbye, no last ‘I love you.’ The process of writing closed a gap that was a gift just for me.”
Dr. Whitaker made her authorship debut in 2020 when she co-authored Deeper Women Teach: Stories and Strategies For Life, Love, And Leadership From Women Who Lead, an anthology that is hosted by Visionary Author, Dr. Barbara Swinney.
AK–A TRUE INSPIRATION
Then over the summer, Dr. Whitaker witnessed the release of her first solo-authored book when Marked From Birth: The Transformational Journey From Flawed To Fabulous hit the market.
Other books, she said, are forthcoming.
“I do have a few other titles I am working on, so stayed tuned, Dr. Whitaker told MHN. “Although I am the visionary, there were nine co-authors including Lead Author, Angela Hooper-Menifield, Dr. Theresa Moseley, and Dr. Rhonda M. Wood, to name a few. They are all accomplished and amazing women and I call myself blessed to be a part of this family.”
