I have told you these things, so that in Me, you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33/NIV)
VICTORIOUS REGARDLESS
DALLAS — Even while being honored on a national stage, God respectfully interrupted Arletta Allen through one of His anointed vessels.
She’d be the first to admit she had no problem with it.
“The vision to write my book came in an unusual way,” Allen, during a recent interview with Making Headline News, said, recalling the memorable, life-altering developments surrounding the production of her featured written work. “I was being presented as an honoree for a national award for my work in the fight to eradicate poverty nationally. While networking, a lady walks up to me and says, ‘The Lord told me ask you, when are you going to write the book?’ I responded, ‘What book?’ (Allen said with a grin).
For Allen, it seemed the time had finally come that she gives this unlikely authorship endeavor some serious consideration.

“At the time, writing was not on my mind at all,” Allen recalls. “She continued saying that she was a prophetess and the Lord showed her that I would write a book and it would become a New York Times bestseller and make more money than all my careers combined. She departed leaving me with a charge and mandate from God to write the book…not a choice but a mandate.”
According to Allen, such a memorable exchange unfolded in August 2019. Approximately three-and-a-half years later, her heaven-mandated assignment would ultimately come full circle with the ceremonious release of Defy the Odds: Making The Transition From Trauma To Triumph, her highly-anticipated book at that, much to her delight, has been as good as advertised.
As part of Making Headline News’ national coverage of Sarah Jakes Roberts’ inaugural Woman Evolve Conference that took place September 14-16 from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, Allen said she relishes the notion that God had strategically provided for her a spiritually-empowering resource that would enable others to effectively carry the burden of generational trauma and, most importantly, abstained from being ashamed of their dreaded past.

“This book is designed to make people free,” Allen, a Dallas/Fort Worth-based author, says without hesitation.
A riveting, fascinating masterpiece that kicked off her authorship debut, Allen goes to great lengths to pull back the covers by sharing her inspirational story, one that centered on a black woman who takes us on a poignant journey, according to a detailed synopsis of this faith-based writer’s book via Amazon.com.
“She will take you on her personal journey from a traumatic place of despair, despondence, and insecurity,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Allen’s Defy The Odds: Making the Transition From Trauma To Triumph. “As she takes you on a journey, Arletta will be inspiring and empowering you to defy the odds on your personal journey. Although she was raised in experiencing poverty, early domestic upheaval, physical and emotional abuse, and utter hopelessness, she eventually arrived at a triumphant place of victory over self-doubt. Arletta discovered her authentic identity and the fulfillment of God’s divine plan for her life. Now, through her story, her mission is to also navigate you to the destination of hope and freedom, where you, too, shall defy the odds.”
An intriguingly informative book that is comprised of 212 pages, Allen has become the beneficiary of a slew of rave reviews since the release of Defy The Odds.
GROW IN GRACE
“I have received testimonials that the book is a workbook and guide all compiled into one,” Allen told MHN. “(I’m told) that it has been very transformational for those who have applied the principles found within. I have had organizations start book clubs surrounding my book and also, I have firm support from family and friends nationally and internationally. Also, that they wish I had given even more details about my feelings and forgiveness towards those who hurt me and how did I overcome it.”
When asked what divine message she’s aiming to her reading audience through her featured book, Allen — whose sophomore book, Who Influenced You? Arletta Allen: A Peculiar Princess in the Making of a Masterpiece, debuted in March 2023 — said:
“That just as Maya Angelou states: You may not control the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. The divine message is we are not defined by our circumstances and, that at any point, we can choose to dream big and reach beyond our grasp. The key to defying the odds in your own life is to build up your self confidence and self-esteem by implementing these seven tips: Believe In Yourself, Forgive Yourself, Change Your Mindset, Be Confident, Celebrate Yourself, Let Go of the Past, and Step Into Your Purpose.

“With these tools, you can overcome any adversity in life you face and not only bounce back but bounce forward towards the life you dreamed of having, (and then) you, too can defy the odds,” continued Allen, adding that a third book is forthcoming. “The only limitations we have are those we set for ourselves. I was crazy enough to believe that being in poverty and prostitution were not my desired outcome, so I changed the narrative and journeyed towards the palace, and I made it.”
With God, her Helper, steering the way.
