She considers a field before she buys or accepts it — expanding her business prudently — with her profits, she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard. (Proverbs 31:16 Amplified Bible)
ONE SHINING MOMENT
Accomplished Mid-South entrepreneur Dr. Tina Shirelle Moore is forever grateful for the overflow of blessings God has strategically bestowed upon her life — especially for the past decade.
So much, in fact, that the mastermind behind Cakes and Cuppycakes is destined to praise and reverence God, from Whom all blessings flow.
A native of Chicago who moved to Greenwood, Mississippi at the tender age of 11, Dr. Moore has reached a memorable milestone, given her featured business endeavor has in been operations for 10 years.
“God is showing out in my life. I want MORE!” Dr. Moore said via Facebook earlier this week in a post that is accompanied by praise hands emojis.
AND IT CAME TO PASS

To grasp a thorough understanding of why this resourceful, esteemed businesswoman is savoring the abundant life that Christ came to give her, look no further than the remarkably brilliant strides she’s made since she discovered her fervent passion for enhancing her craft.
“The competitive drive in life was realizing the gift and passion for baking,” Dr. Moore told Making Headline News this week. “I absolutely love what I do. What I love most about my business is seeing the finished product that was once a vision.”
Interestingly enough, Dr. Moore especially relishes her latest creation — a Flintstone’s Pebbles birthday cake that drew an array of rave reviews for this longtime baking phenom.
“The mother and birthday girl that was turning four years old picked up the cake. The birthday girl’s reaction and response were, ‘Wow, it’s so pretty’ and “Thank you,’” Dr. Moore recalls. “This was such a sweet and precious moment. This added to why I love exactly what I do.”
A rising business that has reaped a considerable amount of sustained success since its inception, Dr. Moore’s Cakes and Cuppycakes customarily services customers ranging in ages six months and up.
As her business’ 10th anniversary looms, Dr. Moore said it is due in large part to her the solid support of her church that has fueled her drive to grow Cakes and Cuppycakes amid humble beginnings.
“My church, New Growth In Christ, is what inspired me to start and prosper in my business,” Dr. Moore told MHN. “Looking back at notes and memories, the message shared on a Sunday morning in January 2014 was by my awesome, Bishop Sidney P. Malone. “In that service, it was shared that thing…that one thing that you are passionate about. That thing that you would do for free, let that be what would be your side hustle. Let that make money for you. It was then where the title of my business was birthed.”
And the rest, as they say, was history.
A little more than a decade removed from such a life-altering sermon, Dr. Moore’s featured business endeavor has become a fixture in Memphis and the surrounding areas, in large part because of its wide range of delectable, mouth-watering desserts — everything from her popular strawberry lemonade cookies, lemonade blueberry muffins, and peach cobbler muffins, among other notable treats.

“My personal mission is for people from all over to experience what my business Cakes and Cuppycakes has to offer,” said Dr. Moore, who baked her first dessert in Chicago at nine years of age.
By all accounts, Dr. Moore credits her faith and keen relationship with God for her sustained entrepreneurial prosperity for a business that has acquired LLC status in Tennessee and Mississippi.
“What inspires me is staying in the word of God,” Dr. Moore said. “God is real, and it is imperative that I stay connected to Him…to hear His Voice and follow His instruction. In this season, God is saying that I am to have an abundant mindset and to declare, “I want more.’ I want more peace, miracles, increase, connections, instruction, training, discipline, and resources. I want to inspire others to stay true to themselves, utilize the gift and allow the world to see what God has given them.”
Dr. Moore established Cakes and Cuppycakes in February 2014 after acquiring her Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Jackson State University.
OM-GOOD TO THE LAST SLICE
Having earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Public Administration and Environmental Health, respectively, from Mississippi Valley State University, Dr. Moore also holds a ministry diploma from Memphis’ Ministry Training International School.
“After graduating from Jackson State University in 2013 with my Doctorate, respectfully, I was called Dr. Moore,” Dr. Moore told MHN. “I’d like to share that when I started my business in February 2014, people began to call me Dr. Cuppy. I thought that this was totally cute and have been called Dr. Cuppy ever since.”
Ten years and counting.
