A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great. (Proverbs 18:16/NIV)
YOU GO, GIRL!

To her distinctly unique credit, Twanda E. Young, in this year’s infancy stages, had coined her own personal motto, of sorts.
It reads: 2025: A Year of Global Impact and Visionary Leadership.
For what it’s worth, Young steadfastly lived up to such an intriguing proverb throughout a year that undoubtedly will go down as one of her most memorable in recent memory.
“I would sum up 2025 as a year of global expansion and purpose-driven impact,” Young recalls.
Much to her delight, this year wound up being a festive, celebratory one for this beloved miliary veteran, who has been named Making Headline News Woman of the Year for 2025, as announced by the Dallas/Fort Worth-based media outlet.
SALTUTING WOMEN WHO HELP SHAPE OUR WORLD
A well-respected Charlotte, North Carolina-based empowerment extraordinaire in her own right, Young garnered high praise for her assortment of philanthropy contributions, many of which were put on display on a global landscape.
Young earlier this year was recognized in Hong Kong, where she was a recipient for the Lifetime Achievement for Leadership and Empowerment at the FLUXX Awards 2025. It was then off to London, where she acquired the prestigious Woman of Heart Award, thus solidifying her immeasurable work on a global corporate and humanitarian stage.
Consequently, Young was selected as Veterans Affairs Commissioner for the 14th District in Charlotte.
“I am deeply honored to have been selected by Governor Josh Stein to serve as the Veterans Affairs Commissioner for the 14th District in Charlotte, North Carolina,” Young said. “This role allows me to advocate for our service members at the highest levels of state government.”

Also this year, Young attracted national visibility by way of a billboard drop in the heart of Times Square for Dr. Marcea B. Whitaker’s anthology, Destiny Exposè: The Leading Ladies Volume 1.
“Seeing my work showcased on a billboard for the Leading Ladies of Destiny Exposè Vol. 1 was a profound moment — a public declaration of the power and visibility of women in leadership,” Young said.
Not to be outdone, Young made her presence felt when she orchestrated what is suitably known as an Academic Impact at Bowie State University.
“A major milestone was the university’s official approval of my best-selling leadership book, Dare to Lead Differently…Chew On This: 16 Bites For Bold Leaders, Young said. “As a supplemental text for the HURD 748 Leadership Development course, (I managed to) ensure these leadership bites are available to students in the campus bookstore.
Interestingly enough, Young was credited this year for having spearheaded what is known as laying the foundation for Healing Her Path.
“This year, I collaborated to birth the vision for Healing Her Path, a nonprofit dedicated to helping veteran women heal from trauma, providing them with resources and a supportive community,” Young said.
MAKING DREAMS A REALITY
Looking ahead, Young is destined to make an even greater impact through her selected line of work in 2026 and beyond.
Amongst Young’s strategic ambitions throughout the upcoming year are centered largely on the official launch of the Healing Her Path organization, she announced.
“My primary focus for 2026 is the formal launch of this nonprofit to ensure veteran women have a dedicated space for healing and community reintegration,” Young told MHN.
Also, Young said she looks forward to broadening her horizon in her role for Charlotte’s 14th District Commissioner.
“I look forward to beginning my work with the Veterans Affairs Commission, ensuring the 14th District’s veterans are heard, supported, and respected,” Young said.
In addition, Young anticipates what she calls the forthcoming Global Consulting Expansion.
“I aim to take LT3 Leadership Solutions to even more international markets, focusing on helping organizations navigate complex team dynamics with tech-driven strategies,” she said.
Also, Young said 2026 will bring about her next literary project, which would focus establishing the momentum of what is known as the Peace Within endeavor.
“I am looking forward to developing new content that explores the SID Law Principles (Strategically Focused, Intentionally Committed, and Disciplined in Execution),” Young said.
And then there’s the forthcoming upgrades to what are known as her Scaling Mentorship Programs.
“I want to formalize a larger-scale mentorship initiative specifically for women and veterans, echoing the themes of empowerment found in my co-authored project, Her Pen, Her Voice,” Young said.
“(This year) is memorable because it proved that my testimony didn’t end when I hung up the uniform,” said Young, who served 33 years in the United States Army. “From the global stage in London and Hong Kong to the state level in North Carolina, this year was a powerful reminder that excellence has no retirement date. Transitioning from a soldier to a commissioner, CEO, and academic influencer has made this my most transformative year yet.
“I also credit the unwavering support of my family, especially my daughters, Lea and Tyra, and my husband, Tracy,” Young continued. “I stand on the shoulders of the mentors I’ve had throughout my 33 years in the Army. My foundation was built at Claflin University and South Carolina State University, and I am forever grateful to the instructors who pushed me to lead boldly. Finally, I credit the community of leaders and the visionary leadership of Governor Stein for trusting me with this new responsibility.”
FOREVER YOUNG
