MEMPHIS — Say what you want about Corey Clark.
But as an accomplished businessman, one of the notable attributes about with which he’s armed is the formula, of sorts, for achieving entrepreneurial excellence.
“I work to be the best at what we do. I believe that anyone can sell someone a car but building customers for life is the way to success,” Clark told Making Headline News during a weekend interview.
Not only is Clark is an entrepreneur who seemingly says all of the right things but, most importantly and to his distinctly unique credit, he goes above and beyond to exemplify that about which he professes.
A native of Garland, which is the housed in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area, Clark, 36, is widely known as one of the founding partners for Memphis’ Clark Adams Auto Group.
A pre-owned car dealership that is located at 2191 Airways Boulevard in Southeast Memphis, Clark’s establishment prides itself off of meeting the needs of Mid-Southerners, particularly those who aspire to enhance their lifestyle by way of purchasing a reliable pre-owned vehicle.
“I have the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life,” said Clark, explaining what he deems mostly intriguing about his business, which has become a fixture throughout the Memphis metropolitan area.
Interesting enough, it seems that Clark, whose car salesman’s expertise spans nearly two decades, was built and equipped to function in his selected line of work. For further proof, look no further than his upbringing back in Garland.

“I remember a time when my parents had bill collectors calling and we were the gate keepers, because that was standard back then,” Clark explained. “Now I get a chance to educate my customers on rebuilding their credit and helping them get back to where they can actually buy the vehicles they want in the future.”
Much to his delight, Clark Adams Auto Group has managed to enjoy sustained success, in large part because Clark and his staff routinely devise ways to place the car-buyers’ needs above their own.
In other words, as clicheish as it might sounds, Clark and Co. don’t just profess that customers come first.
Rather, they go to great lengths to prove it.
“I want Clark Adams Auto Group to be a household name,” said Clark, adding that he credits his family for his continuous entrepreneurial success. “I want people to give us the opportunity to help them get off their feet and in the seat of their new ride.”
All things considered, Clark is especially complimentary and grateful to his father, whom he described as a man whose reputation is such that he fortifies a solid, resilient work ethic.
“Growing up, he woke up every morning and went to work to provide for us,” Clark said of his father. “If he had to write a bad check to make sure I had shoes on my feet, he would do it.”
To his credit, Clark brings to the Mid-South an array experience as a gifted and talented dealership owner.
“After managing eight car dealerships in Dallas that preyed on those who had bad credit,” I started over in the Mid-South and, in three years, went from managing dealerships to starting our first but not last dealership,” he said.
In other words, as Clark hinted, his best and brightest days as a true cars salesman guru are well ahead of him.
What’s even more astounding is that Clark’s business is committed to catering to the needs of anyone, most notably first-time buyers who are seeking to establish some credit history, to single mothers who struggle to acquire transportation, even those recently divorced individuals who are faced with having to start over.
All in all, what it all boils down to in Clark’s selected line of work is esteeming others highly than himself.
“I’ve come to realize that transportation for the most is as important as food and water,” Clark, a single father since the age of 17, said. “I meet people daily, and (it’s great) knowing that you’ve helped someone who has the drive and motivation to take care of their family and to be able to be that helping hand. That I why we do what we do.”
So say what you want about Corey Clark.
Still, as an accomplished businessman, one of the notable attributes about with which he’s armed is the formula, of sorts, for achieving entrepreneurial excellence.
