LET’S DO WHAT WE CAN FOR HER — A notable advocate for fighting the war of domestic violence, Maryland businesswoman Christy Johnson in June created a GoFundMe account to raise funding for Finding Your Destiny, Incorporated, her non-profit domestic violence and suicide prevention organization she established months after her daughter’s tragic death in 2013.
Columbia, Maryland-based businesswoman and author Christy Johnson has established a fundraiser for a worthy cause.
A notable advocate for fighting the war known as domestic violence, Johnson in June created a GoFundMe account to raise funding for Finding Your Destiny, Incorporated, her non-profit domestic violence and suicide prevention organization she established months after her daughter’s tragic death in 2013.
A native of Mississippi, Johnson’s Finding Your Destiny organization is dedicated to saving lives and restoring futures of those affected by abuse.
“Our cause and mission is to educate, motivate, and innovate new ways to living free from abuse and murders due to domestic violence,” Johnson said in a detailed description of her organization on her GoFundMe page.
On September 10, 2013, Johnson and her family found themselves on the wrong side of some horrifically devastating news when they learned that her daughter, then-19-year-old Destiny, was murdered and was left hanging in a closet as a result of domestic violence.
That, by all accounts, is amongst the reasons Johnson is pleading with the public to support her non-profit organization with monetary donations. Her goal, she emphasized, is to raise $20,000.
In addition, Johnson said she’s hopeful that nationally syndicated radio show hosts Rickey Smiley, Steve Harvey, Tom Joyner, and other celebrities come across her story and assist her in promoting her non-profit organization.

That, by all accounts, is amongst the reasons Johnson is pleading with the public to support her non-profit organization with monetary donations. Her goal to raise $20,000.
“As an organization, we love each person and do not discriminate because of their current situation,” Johnson said. “We help with solutions to understanding self-worth, love, and living better in an environment free of abuse.
Finding Your Destiny is especially asking for donations to benefit its cause on October 6, during which Johnson’s organization will host a Survivors Gala to support former victims of domestic violence and the communities at large. The event is especially geared toward aiding middle, high school, and college students, most notably those who are current victims and survivors, Johnson said.
