DALLAS — According to God’s manual, the unknown writer of Hebrews reminds us that, “without faith it is impossible to please God.”
No one, it seems, can greatly attest to this thought-provoking, spiritually-enhancing notion than Dr. Alandrus P. Spencer.
ONE SHINING MOMENT
Consider, for instance, how Spencer, the Founder and Senior Pastor of Blytheville, Arkansas’ Touching Lives Ministry, Inc., had steadfastly clung to unwavering faith throughout a year in which he had endured his share of obstacles.
“This year has been incredible. Although (there were) many challenges, my faith continued to excel in God, causing my gift to encourage others to flourish in the writing and releasing of two books.” — Dr. Alandrus P. Spencer on assessing 2018
The two books to which Dr. Spencer is alluding are, “Encouraging Moment: Live Life By An Encouraging Moment” and “Encouraging Moment: The Turbulence Was Necessary,” a pair of inspiring and informative projects that are separated by 15 months.
Most importantly and much to his delight, it is because of Dr. Spencer’s valiant contributions as an accomplished author that have not only given way to a massive increase in his faith walk, but such a trend has resulted in the Chicago native being named Making Headline News 2018 Man of The Year.
“(My) accomplishments were both on a personal level and the church where I serve at,” said Dr. Spencer, basking in the glory of the memorable, tear-jerking season that was 2018. “(For) one, I have witnessed the personal growth of some that I serve.”
To his credit, coupled with the divine calling on his life, there were other factors that contributed mightily to what has been a banner year for Dr. Spencer.
“We successfully managed to complete three outreach programs to the community we serve for three consecutive years,” Dr. Spencer recalled. “My personal growth as a Pastor and serving through many challenges grew my faith and my love for people and their successes.”
And, in a remarkable turn of events, Dr. Spencer’s authorship debut had ultimately given way to his being named National TAP Awards Author Of The Year during its second annual ceremony from Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Then weeks later, there arose his latest honor, which was officially announced on December 12.
“Winning Man Of The Year (through Making Headline News) is totally humbling and very unexpected,” Dr. Spencer said.
Interestingly, while he was tempted to offer a mini-sermon of sorts, amid his latest honor, something had ultimately gotten a hold of him.
“Although I want to preach in this statement, I must do what I do,” Dr. Spencer jokingly said. “Accomplishments (in 2018) came with many challenges for my wife (Veronica) and me, it was mostly the trying of our faith. We saw times of spiritual warfare, times of misunderstandings from people, times of mean-spirited things toward us, times of loss, times where health issues challenges (hit) us, but can I tell every reader today that God is faithful to His word, and whatever He has promised you, you should know this.”
Then came a few year-end parting shots for the adversary whom, as Dr. Spencer recalled, had tried time and again to toss shade on what God had strategically set aside exclusively for him.
“No devil in hell can stop it,” Dr. Spencer said. “His grace is sufficient and His mercy endures forever and new ever morning. Somebody say Amen to this.”
Now that the year has been appropriately addressed, you had best believe that Dr. Spencer is destined to embrace 2019 — and all that comes with it.

“I want to continue to encourage people through my books, so I have one book left to write in the ‘Encouraging Moment’ series, and I hope to complete it in 2019,” said Dr. Spencer, providing a few strategic objectives for the New Year. “(Also, I’ll be witnessing the) launching of Touching Lives in Jonesboro location, and I hope to grow as a leader to continue to encourage people and be a storehouse for those in need.”
The curtain drop of 2019 will also jump start a collaborative project featuring him and his wife, Dr. Spencer announced.
“My wife and I will be releasing our first children’s book,” he said. “(We want to) continue to connect and grow covenant partnerships for outreach, expansion, personal and professional development.”
Because if he’s said it once, he’s said it countless of times.
That is, no devil in hell can stop what God allows.
This year, as he was reminded, was indicative of that.
