She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands; She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar; She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants; She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard; She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. (Proverbs 31:13-17 NIV)
BEAUTY OF HOLINESS
Adrian Holmes is widely regarded as a devout woman of faith, both in the Body of Christ and the workforce.
Amongst the reasons is that Holmes is Co-Pastor of her local church, as well as an accomplished businesswoman, a rather crafty, resourceful clergywoman who’s possessed with the immeasurable smarts and skills to style hair.
“I started doing hair at the ripe age of 12 years old,” Holmes told Making Headline News this week. I begin to do my ponytail, and as I grew up coming through middle school and high school, I began to do (hair for) my peers, my family members, church members, etc.”
Clearly, Holmes’ quest to emerging as a thriving, flourishing professional cosmetologist was discovered way back during the preteen era of her life, a trend that has given way to her becoming the proud owner of The Designer’s Original Salon, her Brunswick, Georgia-based venture that went into full operations approximately six years ago.

Located at 4479 New Jesup Highway, Suite 107, Holmes would be first to admit that her awe-inspiring dream of overseeing the day-to-day operations of very her own salon has become a monumental reality.
“I love servicing individuals and watching their faces light up as they see the end result,” said Holmes, 40, whose professional cosmetology stint spans some 28-plus years.
As Holmes explained, her key to entrepreneurship success has always been centered largely on her bend-but-don’t-break faith, coupled with her fervent objective of routinely exceeding her expectations and, most importantly, the expectations of her clients.
“Being competitive in life always calls for me to exceed standards of anything that I take on,” Holmes said. That’s when you know you’ve won at what you do. For instance, my mom has always said, ‘If you’re on time, you’re late. if you’re 15, minutes early you’re on time.’ Life has taught me to go above and beyond all things, especially the way you treat others. I’ve been taught that by my parents.”
To her credit, Holmes certainly possesses the essential credentials, which have greatly equipped her to take her rightful place as an entrepreneur.
A 1998 graduate of Brunswick’s Wayne County High School, Holmes subsequently graduated in 2011 from Technical College, where she had become a fixture on the President’s List and was nominated to the National Technical Honor Society by her instructor after having been enrolled for just one month.
Holmes manufactured a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and graduated at the the top of her class.
All things considered, her solid, resilient work ethic as an undergrad has transcended mightily into her profession, and it certainly shows through her craft.
STYLES ON FLEEK
Has been for the past 28-plus years, for the most part.
“I started out as a little girl at 12 in her kitchen, shampooing hair, being screamed at come get this out of my sink,” said Holmes jokingly said, recalling her mother’s voice that ranged out through the house during her childhood.
By and large, Holmes’ mother, Florine Wilson, has always been arguably her grandest supporter, as has her beloved daughter, Addison Ja’neece Holmes, her only child for whom Holmes said she’s destined to “create and empire and leave her a legacy.”
“No matter how rough things has got for her, she allowed me to do what I loved and that was hair,” Holmes said of her mother’s unyielding guidance. “My family has always been close-knit and supportive of what the other is doing, so of course, they got styled as well my best friend Sabrina Jones, who has always supported and pushed me no matter how much time it took away from her.”
An entrepreneur whose fully persuaded that her best and brightest days are well ahead her, Holmes acknowledged she’s forever grateful of the notion that she has steadfastly remained humbled which, much to her delight, has given way to her reaping the best of God’s blessings.
“One may ask, ‘What is it that you do Adrian?’ My reply is, ‘Serve. I’m a servant, a servant to God’s people no matter who they are where they’re from, what they do or what they look like,’” Holmes said.
“I’m looking forward to the future of my business and what God has in store for me. The greatest thing one can do is serve, and God has equipped me to do it with and in the spirit of excellence. I welcome you all to come experience a touch of elegance at The Designer’s Original Salon.”
Appropriately and eloquently stated by a devout woman of faith — both in the Body of Christ and the workforce.
