Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9 NIV)
BRAGGIN’ ABOUT LIFE
Arguably the grandest scare of her young life couldn’t merely stop Jasmine Bragg from fulfilling a life-altering dream.
It all unfolded in January 2017.
At the time, Bragg had endured what was an unlikely crossroads during which she discovered she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer.
As Bragg recalls, doctors had discovered the cancer in her lymph nodes.
“My cancer was very aggressive,” Bragg, 42, told Making Headline News this week. “I had to do very strong chemotherapy. This changed my life in every way.”
Consequently, approximately a year-and-a-half later — on September 8, 2018 to be technical — Bragg underwent a bilateral mastectomy.

Also known as a double mastectomy, a bilateral mastectomy is a surgical removal of both breasts, according to a report at https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/323100. In addition to physically recovering from the surgery, people undergoing a double mastectomy will need to consider their emotional recovery in the weeks and months that follow the procedure.
Also according to research, approximately 17 percent of women with early-stage breast cancer undergo this type of surgery and the recovery time from a double mastectomy can vary from person to person, but it typically takes four-to-six weeks.
Some surgeries, in fact, involve removing the breast tissue but saving the nipple, while others remove the whole breast. More radical mastectomies also remove chest muscle and rarely the lymph nodes.
“I endured so much pain through this process,” said Bragg whom in the wake of her surgical procedure, had ultimately fulfilled the divine purpose for which she was created.
Braggs is the owner and CEO of Jazzy’s Kitchen & Catering LLC, her Savannah, Georgia-based venture she established three years ago.
For Braggs, a native of Savannah, that she has been blessed mightily to start her business amid her cancer diagnosis, by all accounts, is a beauty for ashes moment.
“This is how Jazzy’s Kitchen & Catering truly came about,” Bragg said. “Through my journey, God has allowed me to find my purpose.”
Since the startup of her business, Bragg has enjoyed a considerable amount of success, all the while enlightening others who have been stricken by cancer to never give up on their lofty dreams and ambitions.
“It gives it gives me an opportunity to share my story and help other survivors and someone who may be going through treatments,” said Bragg, when asked what she loves the most about her business. “It also allows me to have great experiences with my customers and also build relationships with others.”
A rising endeavor that is widely known its delectable seafood and soul food, Bragg was greatly inspired by fellow Georgia businesswomen Crystal Pitts and Weslyn Bowers to go diligently after her entrepreneurial dreams.
To her credit, she’s been as good as advertised which, much to her delight is clearly something to brag about.
“I was inspired by God, but I do have two (individuals) who have motivated me on my journey and who have been with me through this process,” Bragg said. “Crystal Pitts has truly been a blessing to me and also Weslyn Bowers.”
A 1997 graduate of Savannah High, Bragg has since conquered her battle with breast cancer, a development that has only made her awe-inspiring journey even sweeter.
“It is important for me to inspire others daily, because I love to see win,” Bragg said.
Whom, much to her delight, has survived arguably the grandest scare of her young life.
