I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18 NIV)
STAYING PUT
Seven years.
Seven long years.
That was the timeframe by which Melinda Walker had endured what she describes as “torment day in and day out.”
So much, in fact, that Walker, in her latest book, vividly recalls how she often wanted to vacate what undoubtedly was a stormy, sometimes seemingly unbearable marriage.
“God gave me this vision when I made a decision to put my past behind me, along with a seven-year battle (in my marriage),” Walker told Making Headline News during a recent interview.
The vision to which Walker is alluding is one that strategically empowered her to produce My Heart Told My Mind But My Body Refused To Move: I Decided To Stay, her recently-released written work that depicts the slew of obstacles surrounding the marriage between a Mid-South-area couple.

“When (a marriage is) ordained by God, it comes with obstacles, trials, tribulations, and days where one party may not like the other, yet the love remains strong,” said a spokesperson for Walker’s My Heart Told My Mind But My Body Refused To Move: I Decided To Stay in a detailed introduction at Amazon.com.
Moreover, Walker acknowledged, “In this book, I share my personal journey on how I experienced infidelity, financial hard times, having to be led by a husband who was not yet surrendered to God. I share how God was my guiding light on the journey to a healthy marriage despite me wanting to leave several times. When reading this book, it is my hope you will see yourself and learn to lean on God for what to do for your troubled marriage or troubled times within your marriage.”
A book that is comprised of 104 pages in length, Walker’s My Heart Told My Mind But My Body Refused To Move: I Decided To Stay figures to have a massive kingdom impact for some time, particularly amongst believers who seldomly mask the assortment of dreaded problems and issues that arise through the sanctity of marriage.
The eBook edition of Walker’s My Heart Told My Mind But My Body Refused To Move: I Decided To Stay debuted on July 31, 2020. The paperback copy debuted on August 8.
“I always felt along with many people that love wasn’t supposed to hurt, but after overcoming many things in my life and in my marriage, I beg the difference,” said Walker, explaining the divine purpose for having composed her latest book. “If you truly walk in the agape love God, we will have to pass the love test.”
As Walker emphasized, this type of love isn’t merely built on emotions or conditions.
“It is not for the faint of heart, and you have to make a conscious decision to complete the process,” Walker, a native of Bogalusa, Louisiana who resides in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, said. “What you will expect from this book is love and forgiveness, self-evaluation, a deeper relationship with God, strength to endure, courage to stand, restoration, transformation, transparency and, ultimately, you will find that secret place and dwell there.”
Interestingly, Walker, a licensed evangelist, deemed it essential to issue a pivotal reminder to married couples and those who aspire to become married.
“I want all married couples and those that desire to be married to know that there will be challenges when two become one,” Walker said. “What I went through was a part of my assignment. Before you make any rash decisions, before you call it quits and throw the towel in, before you deem your marriage is over and irreparable, seek God and not man so He can tell you what He would have you to do.”
Generally, Walker specifically cites, her latest book “goes against the grains,” something she senses her readers will ultimately embrace.
“I later found out that everything the Lord allowed was for my good,” Walker explained. “I kept my focus on my husband and all I feel he put me through until God told me He allowed all those storms so He could move all the debris from my past and reconstruct my life. All the while I was saying, ‘Lord fix this man,’ God said, ‘I am fixing you.’ I go into details and I am 100 percent transparent.”
As expected, the reviews and feedback since the release of her new book have been overwhelmingly favorable, Walker said.
“Get ready to go on a journey with me,” Walker says without hesitation. “You will feel every emotion possible but, at the end of it all, you will see it doesn’t end how it started. Get in your seat, put on your seat belt, and let’s take this ride together. It will be bumps in the road, a lot of detours and dead ends, but I promise you, we will get to our destination together.”
If anyone can greatly attest to these assortments of life-altering encounters, it’s Walker, who earnestly weathered the storm for seven years.
Seven long years.
