Longtime Washington, DC businesswoman Lisa Dove Washington: ‘I saw an opportunity for me to grow in my gifts’

Lisa Dove Washington was only keeping it real.
“I actually didn’t see competition. Instead, I saw an opportunity for me to grow in my gifts,” Washington, during a weekend interview with Making Headline News, said, explaining her rise as an accomplished businesswoman.
For Washington, 52, such an opportunity — a golden opportunity, to put it more precisely — has appropriately given way to this devout woman of faith walking fervently in her God-orchestrated destiny.
A native of the DC area, Washington is functioning masterfully in her divine element as a longtime publisher, online show host, not to mention a bestselling and international bestselling author.
The face of Dove Style Magazine, as well as the founder and CEO of Touched By A Dove Publishing, Washington also has become a fixture as the beloved host of Lunchin’ With Lisa.
Not to be outdone, she is the author of her featured book, The Power Of Shut Up and has co-authored six collaboration books to date, the latest of which is fellow DC author Vernessa Blackwell’s Finding Joy In the Journey: Healthy Ways to Navigate Grief 90 Day Devotional.

As Washington eloquently acknowledged, amongst the key ingredients to her having reaped sustained success through her notable endeavors is due in large part to her steadfast commitment to being innovative.
“I love that I can be as creative as I want with what I want to do, and I also love the fact that I can give others an opportunity to shine in their gifts without having to ask permission from anyone else,” Washington, a proud alumna of Washington DC’s H. D. Woodson Senior High School, said.
A former student at Atlanta’s prestigious Spelman College, Washington has deemed each of her business ventures as “family oriented,” in large part because of her keen desire to routinely uplift, share, and support our youth as well, especially amid such perilous times as now.
“It is imperative that I inspire others (daily) because people need to know that they have gifts that they need to not only tap into, but that they need to share them,” Washington said. “Someone out here is waiting on you to share your gifts so that they can discover theirs.”
In essence, as Washington pointed out, every gift unveiled is a win for everyone.
“And inspiring others is definitely a path to that win,” she says without hesitation.
Having credited her mother as arguably her grandest inspiration from the outset, Washington is forever grateful to the immeasurable support of her husband and children for empowering her to pursue her dreams.
“(They) have definitely hung in there with me through all my crazy ideas,” Washington said of her family.
Interestingly, Washington’s passion for writing dates back to elementary school days, a trend that has given way to her having flourished as an accomplished author.
Washington said Gigi Meet Kam: The Unyielding Love Of A Grandmother — which is part of the children’s book series, Kam Kapers — is presently in the works, although a time for its release has yet to be announced.
A rising actress in her own right, Washington is known for having been a newscaster in a movie that can be found on On Demand TV.
“I have acted in a play. I have also been able to interview amazing celebrities locally and nationally and I have been honored to do it all,” Washington said. “It has been a real blessing.
