We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. (Romans 15:1 KJV)
PURPOSED FOR EMPOWERING
In all honesty, Tiesha N. Bryant sensed she had nowhere to turn, no one to turn to when she learned at an incredibly young age that she was expecting.
Nevertheless, she devised a strategic, life-enhancing plan — with God, her Helper, steering the way.
“After becoming pregnant at 13 and a mom at 14, I knew I had to beat the odds,” Bryant told Making Headline News.
In Making Headline News’ Woman Thou Art Loosed Virtual Experience coverage of Bishop T. D. Jakes’ annual event that took place over the weekend, Bryant recalled how she was blessed to have weathered an array of storms and cleared a slew of hurdles as a teenage mother.
A native of Pittsview, Alabama, Bryant established We Have a Purpose Inc. LLC, her Phenix City, Alabama-based nonprofit organization that customarily provides prevention and intervention services to at-risk youth and their families.

Having become a full-fledged organization in 2014, Bryant’s We Have a Purpose Inc.’s chief focus is centered largely on increasing the number of youths who are at a loss of direction, engaging in risky activities, or are already involved in the juvenile justice system, according to detail introduction on its Facebook business page.
Moreover, We Have Purpose customarily offers prevention, intervention, and postvention services for youths to make what Bryant deems “positive drastic changes in their lives.”
This program, by all accounts, is in place for young people to take a thorough self-assessment of their lives, Bryant emphasized, particularly those whom would otherwise wound up in the juvenile court system or dropping out of school.
“The goals of the program is to service at-risk youths in the community and offer a positive support system with influential people to detour them from making choices that can hinder their future success,” Bryant told MHN. “Once a student has a past of misbehavior and lack of academic skills, it takes a positive effort to help redirect their lives. We Have a Purpose provides effective services that will reinforce the well-being of productive young citizens in the community and decrease the crime rate amongst the youth.”
To Bryant’s credit, her credible nonprofit organization offers an array of life-altering benefits, most notably:
-
Youth is held accountable with swift and effective sanctions
-
Services are provided to the youth and family that specifically address behavior
-
Youth who receive civil citations are less likely to offend in the future
-
Disproportionate minority contact and school arrests are reduced
-
The cost of processing youth in various systems is reduced
-
Keeps youth that pose no real threat to public safety out of the juvenile justice system
-
Frees up limited resources to focus on more serious, violent offenders and,
-
Successful youth have no arrest record to impede military, educational, or employment opportunities.
As Bryant explained, her inspiration for starting what has become a progressive organization comes from being a true and solid example to her daughter, Tanaya Williams.
“I have to be a real model for my daughter,” Bryant said. “My determination and drive have inspired her to be an entrepreneur as well. At 13, she was a business owner, encouraging people not to be bullies and uplifting those who were bullied, and not a baby momma. I thank God for sending my husband (Tjai Bryant) to save me from myself — God, family, love, and business.”
In that rightful order, Bryant is quick to point out.
Interestingly, We Have a Purpose has become a fixture for hosting what is known as Child Abuse Awareness, an annual event that takes in April.
“We also host annual mother and daughter events — seminars, retreats, dances, and dinners — to encourage and empower the mother-daughter bond,” Bryant said. “We host teen talk sessions. We also provide self-help grief support groups for Children who have Lost A Parent (or CLAP) and groups for parents who have lost a child through Never Allow a Heartbroken Parent to Remain Oppressed (or NAHPRO).
After seeing the positive impact their events are having on the community, the Bryant begun hosting summits for couples and families to build what they label “the family unit.”
Also, they host the annual men awards show, Kings Are Forever: Brothers Of Excellence Award Show, which is designed to uplift and recognize the men in the community for their hard work.
A proud graduate of Florida A&M University Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Bryant acquired a Masters in the same area of study from Troy University. Also, she the co-founder of That Girl, her daughter’s rising brand that centered largely on spreading positivity to the youth and advocates against bullying.
“I like being able to pour into our future leaders,” Bryant, an accomplished author, said. “I love the most, knowing that I am making a difference.”
Ever since she was a tender age of 13.
