MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: Florida author Jill Shawntaye Kapri fulfilling her childhood vision as her long-awaited writing career emerges

Daddy’s girl has taken her awe-inspiring vision and run with it.
When Jill Shawntaye Kapri was a child, she recalls like yesterday how she would often write poetry to her father.
“God gave me the vision to write books years ago as a teenager, but I started out as a kid writing poetry to myself and to my dad who is deceased,” Kapri told Making Headline News during a recent interview.
Although Kapri’s father has descended unto glory, she’s gone to great length to carry on his memory through her immeasurable gift a rising author.
To her credit, Kapri was written three books to date, each of which were composed amid this global pandemic.

Kapri’s initial published work, H.es In Da Hood, was birthed in November 2019, but made its ceremonious June 2020.
Kapri’s sophomore version, Hoes In Da Hood Part 2, debuted in August 2020.
And, by year’s end, Kapri’s The System Chose Me will make its official release, a project the Panama, Florida-based author began composing in October 2020.
“I predicted to have it finished by November, but I had to push the date back, so I’m aiming for the end of the year,” Kapri said of her latest book.
As for H.es In Da Hood, this 162-page written work is one where by this innovative author vividly takes you through the lives and everyday struggles of women, many whom are seeking love, attention, and what she appropriately dubs a “free meal ticket” out of the hood, according to a detail breakdown of this book Amazon.com.
“When it comes to their wants, they will stop at nothing to get it, whether it’s betraying friendships, family members, etc.,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Kapri’s H.es In Da Hood. “Nothing matters to them but material things and which nigga have the most money to take care of them.”
In essence, Kapri’s Hoes In Da Hood is filled with drama, jealousy, and envy and, according to this young, vibrant author, the hood doesn’t sleep and the women apart of the hood don’t either. As Kapri dauntlessly acknowledge, “They are always plotting and scheming their next come up.”
For what it’s worth, Kapri’s Hoes In Da Hood Part 2 is filled with even more drama.
“The projects of Foreign Gardens are about to get even crazier as the hoes are getting sneakier and nastier and the niggaz are getting more reckless and restless,” according to an Amazon spokesperson for Kapri’s sophomore project that is comprised of 244 pages. “The beating of Treasure and Trinity leave the hood in an uproar. Each event that happens causes a ripple effect. As the violence increase and H.I.V. affect many more people, the drama in the projects intensifies.”

In a nutshell, Kapri discloses to her audience, “love, trust, loyalty, deceit, along with broken families and friendships fill this sequel.”
A relatively new author, Kapri said amongst her strategic objectives is to keep on edge every reader who browses the pages of her books.
“I want my readers to laugh. I want my readers to cry. But overall, I want my readers to value their lives,” Kapri said. From women to men, I want them to understand domestic violence is never okay. Having children as a hobby and as a meal ticket is not okay.
“I want my women who don’t understand their worth to read and pay attention to the pictures I’m painting and find their worth. I want my male readers to know and understand that even though I’m a female, I understand their pain and life challenges they are faced with every day. I want my readers to grow with me and help me reach more and more people to change the cycle that is being handed down from generation to generation. We need to break the curse of these cycles.”
Generally, Kapri has become the beneficiary of mixed reactions since the release of her new books, something she fully welcomes.

“(I’ve gotten) positive feedback and negative feedback,” Kapri said. “But it’s okay…not everyone is going to like what I write, and that’s okay, too.”
Other published works are forthcoming, much sooner than later, Kapri said.
“Of course, I have a lot of projects I plan to release over the next six months,” she said. “That’s a big challenge for me right now and I am all for it.”
Just as her father taught her.
