Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants. (Psalm 116:15 NIV)
GOD-ORDERED STEPS
Kizzy McCray-Sheppard’s latest authorship revelation emerged amid what could be appropriately described as an early-summer, life-altering defining moments, of sorts.
“I’m a part of (international motivational speaker) Shawn Fair’s coaching cohort, and one of our sisters lost her father in June in 2022,” McCray-Sheppard, a Gainesville, Florida-based writer-turned-businesswoman told Making Headline News this week. “And after her loss, it awakened something in each of us. So much so that our visionary author, Dr. Marcea (B. Whitaker), thought we should all honor our fathers and show love and support to Michelle (Edelen).
Indeed, they did.
And what a remarkably amazing, collective demonstration of love it is by McCray-Sheppard and nine of her fellow co-authors, each of whom shared their truths surrounding the fond memories of their fathers in Daddy’s Girl: Living After The Loss of A Legend, the highly-anticipated Amazon No. 1 bestseller anthology that is orchestrated by Dr. Whitaker, a longtime Maryland philanthropist and internal medicine physician.

A fascinating, compelling collaborative written work that had created a fervent buzz across various message boards and social media platforms long before its ceremonious release this week, Dr. Whitaker’s Daddy’s Girl: Living After The Loss of A Legend undoubtedly is as good as advertised and figures to be an intriguing read for years to come.
“This was not the first time I have written a chapter about my father,” said McCray-Sheppard, referring to Be Limitless: Trusting God’s Plan, her solo-authored book she composed and released last year. “I completed a chapter (in that book) about my father as well. The more I write about him, the more I heal.”
PURPOSE PUSHER
Amongst the reasons McCray-Sheppard is steadfastly finding the strength to weather the storm that is her father’s death by diligently seeking God for a divine sense of direction.
“My father’s untimely death was a result of medical negligence,” McCray-Sheppard explained. “A few weeks prior, he and I were discussing a business that I was about to open that I let die when he left. As I continue to heal, God is awakening that dream in me again.”
Because after all, McCray-Sheppard knows full well that is exactly what daddy would have wanted her to do — make her entrepreneurial dream a reality.

As for her third authorship project to date, McCray-Sheppard, like the rest of the co-authors, sees it as a God-manifested divine connection, one that has blossomed into an anthology that made its ceremonious debut this week and is as good as advertised.
“I decided to be a part of this anthology to honor my father, who was my Superhero,” McCray-Sheppard, who was a co-author for Alethia Tucker’s Reinvented To Rise in 2021, told MHN. “In my eyes, he was the strongest and most loving man I have ever known. I knew that there was another Daddy’s Girl out there who needed to hear how I processed the loss of my Superhero.
“I was 26 when my father took his last breath. I had so many plans that would not come to pass. I had to process not being able to dance with my father again, he would never meet my son, who reminds me of my dad so much.”
Thankfully, McCray-Sheppard found the strength she needed in God’s life-changing Word.
“I anchored myself in Mathew 5:4, and I pray that my transparency would assist another Daddy’s Girl to process the loss of her real-life Superhero,” McCray-Sheppard said. “The man whose strength is greater than any marvel character.”
A devout woman of faith who’s a devoted wife, mother, speaker, and two-time best-selling author, McCray-Sheppard has become the beneficiary of a slew of rave reviews, courtesy of her notable contributions to Daddy’s Girl.
DESTINY STEPS
“One reader thanked me, stating that she, along with so many others, need this,” McCray-Sheppard said. “It gets harder during the holidays, but now she has something therapeutic to read. There is life after death. The memories of your father will keep you. The words that each of us share in this masterpiece will be comforting to another Daddy’s Girl.”
Not to mention serve as life-altering defining moments.
For years to come.
