DALLAS — To her distinctly unique credit, Tanasha N. Friar has gone to great lengths to turn her nearly two decades of experience as a licensed massage therapist into a rising entrepreneurial endeavor.
“Time has really flown by,” Friar told Making Headline News during a recent interview.
Indeed, it has for this accomplished Texas businesswoman, who is the mastermind behind Tone Therapy, LLC, her Dallas/Fort Worth-based featured business endeavor that has become a fixture for offering a variety of massage services, most notably therapeutic massage, manual therapy, and Corporate Chair Massage.
That’s not all, Friar told MHN as part of its advance coverage of Sarah Jakes Roberts’ inaugural Woman Evolve Conference September 14-16 from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

“We help people deal with chronic pain issues such as headaches, plantar fasciitis, neck and back pain, as well as other dysfunctions within the soft tissues, including lymphatic massage to manage lymphedema,” Friar explained. “We also offer a new modality, fully clothed, that combines restorative yoga stretches, meditation and massage, called Yomassage®.”
As Friar suggests, Yomassage® is better suited for people new to yoga and/or massage therapy.

A native of Corpus Christi, Texas who was raised in San Antonio, Friar’s rise to entrepreneurial success comes amid humble beginnings.
Tone Therapy, LLC is located at 100 North Central Expressway, Suite 526, in nearby Richardson.
“I started my business years ago, only part time while pursuing my acting career,” Friar, a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, told MHN. “They both were sustainable at that time. But like in any industry, each had its downtime. Thankfully for years, they were at opposite times. Therefore, it worked out.”
Interestingly enough, Friar’s massage venture had subsequently experienced an increase in business, in large part due to referrals, she recalls.
“And acting auditions slowed down,” Friar said.

Not to be outdone, Friar deemed it essential to shift her focus primarily on the continuous growth of her featured business endeavor, a trend that enabled her to acquire an LLC (Limited Liability Company versus what she describes as “just Doing Business As (DBA).”
“We have weathered the storms of a shut-down, building construction, and office moves and looking to grow from here,” Friar said. “Since becoming a CLT, I am seeking to expand my clientele to offer services to patients with lymphedema and lipedema for this under-served community of patients.”
A Medical Massage Practitioner (MMP), Friar oversees a foundation as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) with the State of Texas.
LET’S TONE UP
Having acquired a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Friar was inspired by her grandmother and mother to become a massage therapist.
“When I was a little girl, I would massage my grandmother’s hands,” Friar recalls. “She had RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and would tell me how great it felt. I would do the same for my mother after a long day at work. So when I was thinking about changing careers from Corporate America, I thought about this memory and spoke to an MT (massage therapist). She described how she thoroughly enjoyed the work. So, I looked into massage therapy schools and signed up two weeks later for the next session and the rest is history.”

When asked how her competitive drive in life has helped propel her for the world of entrepreneurship, Friar said:
“I think a healthy drive for competition has always been a part of me. I played sports in school. I won a city pageant in San Antonio. I moved to California in my 20’s to pursue my acting career and went to massage school, which was a challenge in itself. In all of those experiences, there were ups and downs, wins and losses. They prepared me for even more challenging times of life and an attitude to stay the course and not quit. Wanting to achieve and strive for excellence is part of my God given character. So stepping out on faith to become a business owner was the next phase of my life. Being a business owner has many challenges, but those past experiences have helped me stay the course.”
In essence, Friar emphasized her personal mission is centered largely on helping people know and understand how the body is designed to heal itself.
“(I’m committed to teaching) how changing some habits could help them feel better and incorporate massage therapy as a way of life,” Friar said. “Massage helps relieve stress, which is a major culprit in many of our body’s issues. Having a routine or regiment, which includes massage, will make a tremendous difference in your daily life.
“God created people. People are important. People need a healing touch. Therefore, it is imperative that I follow through with the gifts and talents — in which I’ve been blessed — to share with God’s people.”
