“The single, most underlying reason I chose to produce the book was to prove to myself that I could,” Collington, a Washington. D.C.-based writer told Making Headline News this week. “I’ve always enjoyed writing growing up. I wrote poetry, articles for the school newspaper, etc. I’ve even written an adult fiction book and had it professionally edited. It just didn’t feel like it was the story that needed to be told first.”
But what Collington had ultimately discovered was that God had other plans — plans to give her hope and a future, an awe-inspiring development that came to fruition in the form of a life-altering book.

A book that is comprised of 24 pages, Collington’s Just For Me is a children’s book that depicts the life of Tatiana and her pup, both of whom were inseparable for many years until the day came when they had to part, as mentioned in a detailed synopsis of this author’s book via Amazon.com.
“To honor their friendship, Tati chose to spread that same love and happiness when her family expanded,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Collington’s Just For Me. “This is a story of love and friendship between people and their canine companions.”
Interestingly enough, it didn’t take very long for Collington to compose her first book, needing a few hours to produce and publish it.
“I began writing Just For Me shortly after God gave me the vision,” Collington told MHN. “I’ve learned from experience that when He calls me to do something, I need to listen the first time. The book that is shelved was all me, and I realize that even though I’ve gotten great feedback from the editor and a couple of test readers, it just was not the one. With Just For Me, the subject matter and words flowed effortlessly. I completed it in one day.”
For Collington, her featured book is nothing short of remarkable, given it has emerged as No. 1 in New Releases category, as well as ranked amongst the Top 100 Bestsellers in one of the children’s notable categories.
“I have received a lot of positive feedback from the book,” Collington said. “A couple of readers told me how it made them cry because it was so heartwarming. Others who are dog owners have mentioned how they’ve hugged after reading the book. Overall, I believe it’s the relatability that makes the book enjoyable not only for children but adults. It’s a simple book. However, one could place him or herself in the little girl’s place.”
JUST FOR US
Besides Just For Me, Collington co-authored Beyond Boundaries: Inspiring Leaders in Business and Community, an anthology that made its official debut in November.
Other books, she said, are forthcoming, although timetables for releases have yet to be determined.
“For upcoming projects, I am a co-author in an upcoming anthology entitled, The Forgotten Queens, which is a group of stories to uplift the women in prison,” Collington said. “It should be published before the end of the year. As for my own books, I am wrapping up another children’s book entitled, Watch It Grow, which is centered around sibling relationships that is also slated for release before the end of the year. What’s Seen In The Dark, a young adult fiction will be coming out early next year.
“I was also asked to write a biography for a former pro athlete. We have not discussed any potential release date for it yet.”
When asked in what ways Just For Me aligns with her God-given purpose, Collington — who writes children’s and fiction books under the pen name of Naomi J. Collington — said:
“With the way this book came together in its entirety, as well as the other projects lining up so quickly and fluidly, I believe it’s God showing me that being an author is indeed what I’m supposed to do. My books and the ones I co-authored will reach the right audience and have some kind of impact.”

“I would like to tell anyone reading this that whatever you are being called to do, do it. Whether it is writing, starting a business, going back to school, etc…listen! There is something on the other side with your name on it and the thing you’re supposed to do isn’t necessarily for you. It’s to touch someone else.”
