For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18/KJV)
GLORY TO GOD!
All that matters, really, is that Dr. Lashonda Wofford diligently exercised enough faith to get it done.
Coupled with a dose of courage, of course.
“God gave me the vision to write the book back in 2018,” Dr. Wofford told Making Headline News this week. “I didn’t get the courage to publish the book until December of 2020.”
The book to which Dr. Wofford is alluding is Pain Equals Purpose: I Suffered. I Learned. I Grew, her featured written that jumpstarted her ceremonious solo authorship debut — this after she made her original authorship debut with the release of Blessed Not Broken Vol 1: Journey to Finding Purpose in Marriage, Motherhood & Entrepreneurship As A CEO Wife (an anthology) in May 2020.
Released officially on December 1, 2020, Dr. Wofford doesn’t shy away from the notion that Pain Equals Purpose: I Suffered. I Learned. I Grew had to come to fruition, in large part because she had come to realization that such a major assignment “wasn’t about me,” the Hope Mills, North Carolina faith-based author told MHN.

“Yes, it was my story but God knew that other people needed to know my story so they could gain hope,” Dr. Wofford explained. “I understood that somebody’s breakthrough was tied directly to my obedience.”
A book that is accompanied by 100 pages, Dr. Wofford’s Pain Equals Purpose: I Suffered. I Learned. I Grew vividly reminds her reading audience that pain is something that is common to all of us, as mentioned in an in-depth synopsis of this writer’s book via Amazon.com.
“We don’t choose it, and often seek to avoid it, but if we allow it, we can find our purpose in the midst of our pain,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Dr. Wofford’s Pain Equals Purpose. “This is the truth Lashonda Wofford discovered, and now shares in her new book, Pain Equals Purpose.”
Moreover, this book depicts a crucial season of Dr. Wofford’s life, particularly when she met her soulmate, David, when they were teenagers.
“Even though they were young, they began building a life together, eventually becoming parents to a beautiful baby girl,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Dr. Wofford’s featured written work. “But Lashonda’s idyllic world came crashing down with five bullets and a life that neither she nor David planned for.
“What followed was a lesson in pain and purpose that eventually birthed Akins Helping Hands, an important resource for the ventilator-dependent quadriplegic community, providing excellent In-Home Care Services, as well as advocating, supporting, and educating families who find themselves in similar situations.”

Interestingly enough, amid arguably her deepest pain, Dr. Wofford can greatly attest to the notion that she had ultimately found her purpose.
“Now she tells her story to help you discover yours,” said an Amazon spokesperson. “It won’t happen overnight, but if we will just submit ourselves to the process, we will discover a beautiful transformation waiting for us as we become the people God created us to be, filled with the compassion to love others and help them through the pain we overcame.”
As for the divine message Dr. Wofford aims to send to her audience through Pain Equals Purpose, she said:
“The message that I believe God is wanting to share through Pain Equals Purpose is no matter what happens in life, He (God) has purpose for you and your situation despite how ugly your journey has been. The message that I want to share is that no matter what adversity you’ve experienced, God can and will turn it all around turn your pain into purpose, if you allow him to. The things we go through in life are not for us, they’re for other people. Once God brings us out of or through a situation it’s our responsibility to reach back and pull others from the very place God delivered us from”
Since her book’s Fall 2020 release, Dr. Wofford has become the beneficiary of an array of favorable feedback.
“The responses have blown my mind,” Dr. Wofford, a native of Goldsboro, North Carolina, told MHN. “Honestly, there are days that I’m still in absolute awe of what God has done and continues to do through this book. The impact that this book has had on the lives of others is profound. I’m just humbled and grateful to God for choosing me. I’ve sold so many copies of this book reaching countries outside the United States.
“I have received so many messages from other women that says reading my story gave them the courage, confidence and strength to move forward in their healing journey because they’ve been stuck and silent for years not knowing how to live outside of their pain.”
Besides Pain Equals Purpose, Dr. Wofford has authored seven other books, six of which she co-authored.
In January 2023, she composed Gratitude Guided Journal.
Other books, she said, are on the horizon.
“Absolutely! I’ve written so many books,” Dr. Wofford said. “However, it’s not the right time to release them but when the time is right, they will all make their way to publishing.”
Also, Dr. Wofford has announced the forthcoming release of an anthology she’s hosting. The title: Breaking The Chains; Liberating Our Lineage From Generational Curses, a book that will feature eight co-authors and is scheduled to debut in Fall 2024.
GOD-ORDERED STEPS
“I am so excited about my anthology — I’m a Visionary Author — that’s actually going through the editing process as we speak,” Dr. Wofford said, adding that other anthologies she has joined will debut sometime in 2025. “I was blessed with this download last year.”
Coupled with a dose of courage.
