Much to his delight, rising empowerment coach Jay Vinson was afforded the golden opportunity recently to address one of Georgia’s premiere prep football programs.
At the request of Decatur High’s coaching staff, Vinson, an Atlanta-area philanthropist and transformational coach, was hand to give inspirational words of encouragement to a Bulldogs squad that extended their undefeated streak to six games with a 28-14 victory at Dunwoody Friday night.
Decatur is currently ranked No. 74 nationally by MaxPreps.com.
Named Making Headline News Man of The Year in 2022 and 2023, Vinson was deemed the featured guest speaker to Decatur’s varsity players prior to the team’s homecoming game versus Chamblee on September 13.

“I was blessed and honored to develop great relationships with Decatur High School football (team’s) offensive coordinator, Coach (Xavier) Zay (Clifton) and head coach, coach (William) Felton, last Fall before there season started,” Vinson, an Auburn University alum, told MHN this week. “Which I have developed their trust and friendship where it has developed into a partnership with Decatur High School football. I have spoken to the team last year before there season started and in the spring of 2024 before their spring game.”
An esteemed spiritual life coach and motivational speaker who is the director of Discovering A Better You Professional Life Coaching, Vinson was the beneficiary of an outpour of support amid his latest speaking engagement.
“I received outpours of support from the coaching staff and student athletes as I encouraged them to keep applying pressure throughout this season as they went through adversity last season in 2023 of not performing to the standard and expectation that they laid out for that season,” Vinson recalls. “Now they sit undefeated this season and the players and coaching staff were grateful of the word that I spoke to them of keep doing big things as their purpose is to win state championship this season.”
Decatur (6-0, 3-0 in Georgia AAAAA Region 4) travels to Shiloh (0-5, 0-2) Friday night in a key region game as the Bulldogs aim to break away from a three-way tie for the first place with Woodard Academy and Lakeside in the league standings.
Also, while addressing the surging Bulldogs, Vinson took the time introduce Moving Past Your Pain: Making The Journey Towards Your Destiny, his third written work that has created a fervent buzz across various message boards and social media platforms.

Vinson’s Moving Past Your Pain: Making The Journey Towards Your Destiny in May 2023 garnered the endorsement of Bishop Dale C. Bronner, the globally-acclaimed founder and Senior Pastor of Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral in Atlanta.
“The outpour of reactions of the new book has been a tremendous blessing to all sorts of people from educators, athletic coaches, faith leaders, entrepreneurs and everybody,” Vinson told MHN. “Everyone has been telling me that the book has been life-changing for them as they have been going some sort of depression, adversity and just did not know how to bounce back from painful situations.
“But, after reading the book, it has ignited their faith. Sales have been going great as a lot of people have been ordering copies in bulk orders to give to someone they know that the book would be a blessing to.”
