I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill, but time and chance happeneth to them all. (Ecclesiastes 9:11/KJV)
LEADING BY EXAMPLE
Alia N. Thomas has always sensed that God has miraculous plans for her life outside of her immeasurable track record as an educator.
“I have always had a vision to do something more with my career in education. I just did not know exactly what it was until a few years ago,” Thomas told Making Headline News during a recent interview while referencing the familiar Biblical passage that is Jeremiah 29:11. “In my career, I am always educating, modeling, and instructing students, families, and teachers. My inner voice kept telling me that there was more out there for me, but what was it?
“As the years came and went, my passion for training teachers became my No. 1 focus because as an assistant principal, I am an instructional leader. One night, I had a vivid dream of me doing just that and the date of this dream was November 29. I knew God was giving me His vision for me.”
Much to Thomas’ delight, God infused within her a rather awe-inspiring vision, one that has come to fruition by way of her first published book.

The longtime Maryland educator is one of 14 co-authors to grace pages of Destiny Exposè: The Leading Ladies Volume 1, Master Destiny Life Coach Dr. Marcea B. Whitaker’s highly-anticipated written work that has created a national buzz across various message boards and social media platforms.
“I have always wanted to write a book and share the knowledge and strategies that I have implemented for more than 25 years in education and to put into practice what I have learned as I am taking classes in Developmental Psychology for my doctorate degree,” Thomas said.
“In transitioning from Special Education to a role such as an assistant principal, I initially struggled with traditional administrative duties and imposter syndrome. However, these challenges revealed the crucial need for instructional leadership beyond mere administration. By actively engaging with teachers and students and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development, I have been able to inspire meaningful change in educational practices.”

Generally, Destiny Exposé: The Leading Ladies Volume 1 is widely regarded as more than just a collection of stories, according to a detailed synopsis of this newly-released anthology via Barnes & Noble’s website.
“It’s a bold declaration of purpose, showcasing the strength, resilience, and grace required to become a true leading lady,” said a Barnes & Noble spokesperson for Dr. Whitaker’s latest anthology. “Each chapter illuminates a path for others to follow, empowering readers to walk, learn, and thrive. Your midnight leads to your morning. Your pain leads to your purpose. Your trial leads to your testimony. Let this book be the blueprint for someone else’s journey toward a fulfilled and purposeful life.
“It is an invitation to unmask your purpose, unveil your greatness, and uplift your tribe. Together, let’s turn our stories into a lasting legacy.”
HE SURE HAS
The legwork for Destiny Exposé commenced a little more than a year ago. Thomas, meanwhile, commenced to composing her chapter sometime in July during which she was taking a residency class for her Doctorate Degree.
“I had to learn how to balance homework and writing a book,” Thomas told MHN. “As a true educator, I created a timeline of what I needed to accomplish and when. All in all, the book took me about three months to write.”
For Thomas, it undoubtedly was time well spent.
“The divine message that I am sending my audience is that 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, ‘We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ,’” Thomas said. “I had to grapple with imposter syndrome as a woman of color — with both women and men — who did and did not look like me. In doing so, I had to acknowledge my anointing and praise God for the lessons in my blessings.
“As my father would say, ‘The trials and tribulations will make you stronger, but you are a Thomas.’ I had to go through the pain of vulnerability, acknowledge it, walk in it, and recognize imposter syndrome all at once. Once I did this, I had to change my mindset and overcome all of the negative thoughts and silence my naysayers. My story is God’s glory.”
Indeed, it is.
A story that, to her distinctly unique credit, has changed the overall landscape of her life in the process.
