If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (James 1:5/KJV)
DESTINY STEPS

For what it’s worth, it doesn’t matter, really, how long it took Desiree Williams to birth the authorship vision to which God introduced her.
All that matters, quite frankly, is that such a vision has come full circle.
“I feel like God gave me the vision to write this book years ago,” Williams, during a recent interview with Making Headline News, said, recalling the notable developments surrounding her featured authorship endeavor. “But for a long time, I have struggled with how to put it into words so that it would reach people mentally all over the world.”
Fortunately for Williams, she subsequently demonstrated what could be appropriately described as unshakable faith, a trend that would ultimately give way to this two-time published author spearheading Dozing Through Life: A Memoir of Naps Misunderstandings and Narcoleptic Humor.
A riveting, informative written work that had been in the works for the past five years and is powered by Dr. LaQuita Parks’ Atlanta-based Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing, Williams’ Dozing Through Life: A Memoir of Naps Misunderstandings and Narcoleptic Humor is an anthology that is comprised of four coauthors, each of whom are destined to disclose their life-altering struggles with like-minded individuals who have experienced narcolepsy with cataplexy.

“My single, most underlying reason for writing this book was to spread awareness,” Williams told MHN. “Not nearly enough people have heard of narcolepsy and/ or even have less knowledge about cataplexy.”
Generally, narcolepsy with cataplexy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness and sudden, brief episodes of muscle weakness (cataplexy) triggered by strong emotions like laughter or anger, according to data compiled by MHN via AI Overview.
It is also known as narcolepsy type 1 and is often caused by a loss of hypocretin, a brain chemical, due to an autoimmune process. Diagnosis typically involves overnight sleep studies and multiple sleep latency tests (MSLT), and treatment includes medications like sodium oxybate and wake-promoting agents to manage symptoms.
Symptoms for narcolepsy with cataplexy include:
- Cataplexy: Sudden, temporary loss of muscle control that can range from a slight head drop to a full-body collapse.
- Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS): Feeling overwhelmingly tired and falling asleep without warning during the day.
- Sleep Paralysis: Temporary inability to move or speak when falling asleep or waking up.
- Hypnagogic Hallucinations: Vivid, dream-like hallucinations experienced when falling asleep.
- Fragmented Nighttime Sleep: Waking up frequently during the night.
“My divine message that I hope can come from this book would be (for readers) to learn, research, open their heart and mind and make a sincere effort to understand what we go through…what we live through every day of our lives dealing with narcolepsy and cataplexy,” Williams said.
Much to her delight, Williams has fielded a considerable amount of favorable feedback since word spread about her newly-released anthology.
“I’ve gotten a lot of interest and feedback from different people and much encouragement as to how to write this book,” Williams said.
Prior to composing Dozing Through Life: A Memoir of Naps Misunderstandings and Narcoleptic Humor, Williams graced the pages of the collaborative book project, Girls To Women: Lessons We’ve Learned Along the Way, a “very powerful book” that is comprised of 25 co-authors who shared personal testimonies centered on triumph over troubled times.

Additional works are on the horizon, said Williams, adding that a book signing event is looming for her current book.
“I plan on my next book to be about my father,” Williams said. “The father I never knew and how I came to know him the week I laid him to rest.”
