BISHOP T. D. JAKES’ 2026 GOOD SOIL FORUM ADVANCE NATIONAL COVERAGE: Atlanta businesswoman Kenyatta Bell on unlikely multiple myeloma diagnosis: ‘I will be the first person cured and healed; I trust God’

Andre Johnson August 24, 2026

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory. (1 Peter 4:12-13)

GOD-ORDERED STEPS

THE ROMANS 8:28 AFFECT — As part of Making Headline News’ advance national coverage ahead of Bishop T. D. Jakes’ 2026 Good Soil Forum in Dallas October 8-10, featuring special guest, Tyler Perry, Kenyatta Bell, an Atlanta-area businesswoman, vividly recalled how what transpired a little more than a year ago, by all accounts, altered the overall landscape of her life. Bell on May 16, 2025 was diagnosed with multiple myeloma blood cancer.

Kenyatta Bell fielded the question as if she expected it.

“Honestly, I was at peace if God chose to heal me with Him,” Bell, during a recent interview with Making Headline News, said, recalling the rash of developments surrounding her unlikely diagnosis with multiple myeloma blood cancer. “I didn’t want anything in my heart that would keep me from spending eternity with my Heavenly Father. I started spiritual counseling and mental health counseling. I worked through different things in my heart and worked through memory loss from a life-changing car accident.”

As part of MHN’s advance national coverage ahead of Bishop T. D. Jakes’ 2026 Good Soil Forum in Dallas October 8-10, featuring special guest, Tyler Perry, Bell, an Atlanta-area businesswoman, vividly recalled how what transpired a little more than a year ago, by all accounts, altered the overall landscape of her life.

To put it more precisely, it all unfolded on May 16, 2025.

That was the day in which Bell was given the unlikely news of being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer that forms in plasma cells, most notably a type of white blood cell, according to detailed synopsis of the diseases via https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/multiple-myeloma/symptoms-causes/syc-20353378.

SALUTING WOMEN WHO SHAPE OUR WORLD

According to Mayo Clinic data compiled by MHN, multiple myeloma occurs when healthy plasma cells make proteins called antibodies. Antibodies work with other parts of the immune system to help protect the body from germs.

Moreover, in multiple myeloma, cancerous plasma cells build up in bone marrow. Consequently, the bone marrow is the soft, spongy tissue inside most bones where blood cells are made.

Also, myeloma cells make proteins that are not typical. Such proteins are referred to as monoclonal proteins, or M proteins. These proteins, in fact, can build up and damage organs such as the kidneys.

In addition, multiple myeloma is generally preceded by a condition called monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). In MGUS, the amount of monoclonal protein is low, and the plasma cell condition doesn’t cause myeloma-related organ damage. Most people with MGUS don’t develop multiple myeloma.

Interestingly enough, multiple myeloma, leukemia, and lymphoma are blood cancers, but they start in different tissues or cells. Multiple myeloma starts in plasma cells. Leukemia happens when white blood cells that are not usual grow in excess and don’t work as they typically do in blood-forming tissues such as bone marrow. Lymphoma starts in immune cells called lymphocytes.

Generally, treatment can help control multiple myeloma, reduce complications and ease symptoms, thus helping people live longer.

ACCEPTING WHAT GOD ALLOWS — “I thought about Mark Twain’s quote: Courage is resistance to fear; the mastery is fear, not the absence of fear,” Bell said. “I am not an open wound but a scar because I’ve started my healing journey with a praying village, great doctors, awesome therapists and great psychiatrist. Every day is a great day to heal with prayer and therapy.”

For Bell, amid the shock of her unlikely diagnosis, she recalled having been ill for up to six months.

As she also recalls, such an occurrence — despite clinging to bend-but-don’t-break faith — undoubtedly was difficult to stomach at times.

“My weight went from 164 to 105 (pounds),” Bell recalled. “I couldn’t walk or form words.”

While her was faith remained strong, Bell, nevertheless, doesn’t shy away from the notion that she was in the grandest fight of her life, a battle that essentially had given way to wave of emotions.

For extended period of time, too.

“My initial response was crying but I couldn’t stay there,” said Bell, explaining her immediate reaction after doctor broke the unlikely news to her. “My doctor said multiple myeloma is treatable, but not curable. I told him that I will be the first person cured and healed. I trust God. He is definitely my Jehovah Rapha.”

As Bell had steadily come to grips with the fact that God is sovereign and her fate rest in His Hands, she admittedly witnessed her faith increase considerably.

Weeks after her diagnosis, she began immunotherapy.

“I was preparing for a stem cell transplant, but I didn’t collect enough stem cells,” Bell explained. “I started a more challenging immunotherapy in January 2026…extremely difficult bridging treatment in March and experienced so many side effects but God kept me through every step. I completed a Car T cell Therapy on June 16, 2026, and that date is my new birthday.”

As Bell explained, A Car T therapy is engineered T cells with Varvykti that destroys multiple myeloma cells on contact.

Such a sequence undoubtedly was the turning point she sensed would come to fruition from the outset.

“I am walking by faith through my healing journey,” said Bell, her confidence — and faith — seemingly increasing in the process. “God is so good and kept me through so many faith-building experiences.”

For Bell, she admittedly would be remiss if she didn’t express a sense of gratitude in a solid support system that was spearheaded by arguably some of the finest medical experts in the industry.

“God blessed me with an awesome therapist who helped me through this process,” Bell said. “She helped me identify transgressions that I didn’t remember due to a post-concussion syndrome. God showed me my heart, and it wasn’t well either. God healed my heart through prayer and therapy. God is my Healer, my Waymaker, and Miracle Worker. I am so thankful to God for saving my life.”

In a nutshell, this devout woman of faith is swift to acknowledge…

“God blessed me and saved my life with multiple myeloma blood cancer.”

SEASON OF A REBIRTH

THE PEACE THAT SURPASSES UNDERSTANDING — “Honestly, I was at peace if God chose to heal me with Him,” Bell, during a recent interview with Making Headline News, said, recalling the rash of developments surrounding her unlikely diagnosis with multiple myeloma blood cancer. “I didn’t want anything in my heart that would keep me from spending eternity with my Heavenly Father. I started spiritual counseling and mental health counseling. I worked through different things in my heart and worked through memory loss from a life-changing car accident.”

Continued Bell, Making Headline News Woman of The Year for 2019:

“I was blessed with products from Higher Vibration Wellness, and it helped drastically with my care. The holistic approach, coupled with a treatment plan from an amazing oncologist at Piedmont Cancer Institute, was instrumental in my care. I had a praying family and church family. My village showed up and showed out. They were truly the hands and feet of Jesus.

“I thought about Mark Twain’s quote: Courage is resistance to fear; the mastery is fear, not the absence of fear. I am not an open wound but a scar because I’ve started my healing journey with a praying village, great doctors, awesome therapists and great psychiatrist. Every day is a great day to heal with prayer and therapy.”

That, after all, practically sums up her dauntless declaration, one in which she’s stresses, “I will be the first person cured and healed.”

And, if God said it, that settles it.

Stay tuned.

This feel-good story continues…
