These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. (John 16:33 KJV)
GOD’S OVERCOMER
Tanya L. Holland was only being honest.
“I thought of writing this book in 2008 when my mom died, but I wasn’t mentally or emotionally ready,” Holland, during an interview this week with Making Headline News, said, recalling the notable developments surrounding the eventual production of her featured book.
The book to which Holland is alluding is Shirley Goodness & Mercy: Living After My Mom No Longer Did, her emotionally-driven, spiritually-empowering written work that is a little more a than month removed from its official debut.
“I wanted to honor my mother and to offer encouragement to someone struggling with their own loss (of loved ones),” Holland said when asked what the purpose for her new book is.
An awe-inspiring masterpiece that is comprised of 184 pages in length, Holland’s Shirley Goodness & Mercy: Living After My Mom No Longer Did is appropriately described as a story of struggle and overcoming, according to a detailed introduction of this New York City-based author’s book at Amazon.com.

“It captures a young lady’s heart and spirit as she journeys through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood,” said an Amazon spokesperson for Holland’s Shirley Goodness & Mercy. “You witness her mental, emotional, and spiritual breakdown as she navigates life before, during, and after her mom’s death with an aggressive form of cancer. These short stories, poems, fun facts, and 3 a.m. thoughts will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you reflect on life.
“Take a front row seat as she delves into mental illness, domestic abuse, thoughts of suicide, and spiritual disconnect. Rally around and embrace her story, her fight, her resilience, and her perseverance. Tap into the strength of this conqueror and tap into your own inner strength as well. This book chronicles the journey of grief, anxiety, restoration, and healing. It gives you permission to heal, to reinvent yourself, and to enjoy life again.”

Since the August 12 release of Shirley Goodness & Mercy: Living After My Mom No Longer Did, Holland has become the beneficiary of a rash of favorable feedback. She also has honored requests for additional interviews by the media.
“I am happy to say that the feedback has been very positive, often leading me to tears,” Holland, a native of the Bronx, New York, said. “It has had the same therapeutic to the reader as it’s had to me writing it. I have had exceptional reviews so far.”
As for her divine message to her reading audience, Holland said: “My message is to promote healing and restoration with God’s help. It gives the reader permission to grief and overcome. I think God allowed to grieve the way I have so that I could reach others traveling a similar journey.”
Prior to the release of Shirley Goodness & Mercy: Living After My Mom No Longer Did, Holland was one of 90 co-authors to share of her life-altering journey in Finding Joy In the Journey Vol 2: Healthy Ways To Find Joy During Difficult Times 90 Day Devotional, Vernessa Blackwell’s highly-anticipated 12th anthology that made its official debut in July 2021.
A book that is comprised of 190 pages in length, a massive pool of co-authors has assembled to collectively engage in real talk about finding joy during difficult times, most notably COVID-19, loss, love, grief, and healing, among other pertinent topics, Blackwell told MHN during a recent interview.
In addition, Holland is one of 12 co-authors in the collaborative book, Dear Daughters, which is scheduled to be released sometime this Fall, she said.
Other books are currently in the works, Holland announced.
