THE TRUTH DOESN’T HURT
Quit lying.
That is the undisguised message LaQuita Parks and Anthony Wallace are collectively aiming to get across to their reading audience through Ouch! Lies Hurt!, their highly-anticipated and fascinating children’s book that debuts April 15.
“The truth of the matter is that most, if not all, children lie at some point,” Parks wrote in a social media post via LinkedIn approximately a month ago. “Ouch! Lies Hurt! is a children’s book to aid parents as they teach their child the importance of telling the truth.”
An intriguing concept that was originally spearheaded by Wallace, Parks subsequently was responsible for adding what she describes as a “song-along” to accompany Ouch! Lies Hurt! The music was produced by Frank L. Troutt Jr. of Thundlight Productions & Publishing.

Generally, “Lies really hurt and they make people cry. Please boys and girls, don’t tell a lie, said a spokesperson for Parks and Wallace’s collaborative written work at https://paprovipublishing.com/. “This book is for parents who live by the truth and believe in instilling truth in their children. Teaching children to be honest helps them build a solid foundation for their future.”
As part of Making Headline News’ advance coverage of Bishop T. D. Jakes’ International Leadership Summit May 4-6 in Orlando, Parks and Wallace stress, among other things, three notable reasons children often tell fibs. Among the reasons are:
- They are afraid of disappointing their peers
- They don’t want to be punished and,
- They sense that lying is easier than telling the truth.
By all accounts, Parks and Wallace don’t shy away from the notion that their book is the answer to an ongoing issue in today’s society.
“As a Christian publisher, I enjoy writing and publishing books for children that are not only fun and wholesome, but that teach,” said Parks, the CEO and Founder of Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing. “The goal and message for Ouch! Lies Hurt! is to teach children that lies really hurt and they make people cry. Honesty is right and good but lies are bad and wrong.”
A distinctly informative and life-altering book Parks and Wallace began composing at the beginning of the year, Ouch! Lies Hurt! will debut this month which, ironically, includes the anniversary dates of the passings of Parks’ mother and grandmother.
The longtime publisher and Atlanta-based philanthropist said she’s releasing the book in her their memory.
“April is a very difficult time of year for my family because the month of April is when my grandmother and my mother passed, just seventeen days apart,” Parks said. “I truly believe that God has gifted me with the ability to help people take their stories from a thought to a realization by sharing my heart through not only my own personal story of medical childhood trauma at the hands of a nurse, but also by using my gifts and talents.
“See, I believe that God has already given me everything I need to do everything He needs me to do for the uplifting of His kingdom…no matter what position I am in,” Parks continued. “I have a responsibility to us the platform He has blessed me with to produce quality material that will add value to this world.”
To her credit, Parks also authored the books: Walking Limitations By Other People’s Definition (released in 2016), Good Morning Friends (released in 2018), My Neighbors Don’t Look Like Me! (released in 2020), Affirmations of Beauty re-Defined and Suited For Service (both released in 2021), Unknown Battlefields and Colorful Little Minds (both released in 2022), and My Created World Journal For Teens (released in 2023).
STOP IT, ALREADY!
Other books are forthcoming, Parks said.
“I have several client projects coming soon, but I also have several more children’s books with sing-alongs that I’ve written,” said Parks, referring to the upcoming projects: To Myself, Wanna Wanna Go To Sleep Sleep, Gabby Learns To Count, Christian’s Busy Day, and Arya Finds Her Toes, each of which will be released later this year.
Since word spread of Ouch! Lies Hurt!, Parks and Wallace has garnered a slew of rave reviews.
“So far, the feedback has been quite positive,” said Parks, whose itinerary includes speaking at the T4-Trials, Triumphs, Truth & Tears Virtual Summit in May, as well as upcoming radio and podcast interviews. “The song is very catchy and I guarantee that once you get it in your head, you will be singing and smiling too.
“I was baptized into Christ,” Parks continued. “It was then — and still is — the best decision I have ever made. I love what I do, and I love being a child of the living God. My prayer is that Ouch! Lies Hurt! will reach the masses and children all over the world will be singing, ‘Ouch, Ouch, Lies Really Hurt’ and they make people cry, ‘Please boys and girls, don’t tell a lie. This book can also serve as a reminder to adults too.”
So quit lying, already.
