Just recently, Shay Sane was asked how her competitive drive in life has greatly helped propel her to reap sustained entrepreneurial success.
“My competitive drive has always pushed me to strive for excellence and resilience,” Sane told Making Headline News during an exclusive interview.
It is due in large part to her resilience that has Sane has been blessed mightily to fulfill her divine purpose as the face of Black Girls On The Go® (BGOTG)/Black Girl Travel Movement™ (BGTM), her Clearwater, Florida-based featured business endeavor that is in the midst of commemorating its 10th year of existence.
As part of Making Headline News’ advance national coverage of Sarah Jakes Roberts’ Second Annual Woman Evolve Conference that takes place September 26-28 from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Sane, 54, emphasized, among other things, it is because of her fervent drive that has helped her to develop the determination needed to create a credible wellness brand, one that has become a fixture for empowering “strong black women” —- or “SBW,” as she suitably acknowledged — to prioritize their mental health and well-being.

“By constantly seeking innovative ways to offer wellness workshops, seminars, social events, and Transformational Travel Experiences (TTraVsperiences), I have been able to address the unique challenges faced by SBW and provide them with the tools and support they need,” Sane said. “This competitive spirit ensures that we continuously improve and expand our offerings to foster self-care, personal growth, and community building, helping SBW avoid the pitfalls of mental health neglect such as depression, anxiety, burnout, and isolation.”

Generally, the primary goal through Black Girls On The Go® (BGOTG)/Black Girl Travel Movement™ (BGTM) is centered in large part on helping SBW prioritize their mental health to prevent issues such as depression, anxiety, burnout, sleep disorders, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, economic impact, and, most significantly, isolation.
“We provide resources and organize events that foster self-care, personal growth, and community building,” Sane told MHN.
Interestingly enough, Sane’s empowerment business primarily caters to women ranging in ages 28 to 78, “but we welcome all black women who are on a journey to prioritize their mental health and well-being,” she said. “We are a multi-generational organization dedicated to supporting women across different stages of life.
“What I really enjoy is sharing my own mental health journey and watching the transformation in the women we serve.” Sane, a Washington, D.C. native, continued. “Witnessing their growth, vulnerabilities, increased confidence, and improved mental health is incredibly rewarding. It’s fulfilling to know that we are making a tangible difference in their lives.
“As a community leader, my personal motto is, ‘Find your tribe and you will thrive.’ Holding space specifically for SBW is important because SBW are a unique breed and require love, care, and unique support.”
Since the startup of Black Girls On The Go® (BGOTG)/Black Girl Travel Movement™ (BGTM), Sane has enjoyed widespread global success, having hosted events and workshops in such major cities as Washington, DC; Atlanta, Houston, and New Orleans.

“Internationally, we have traveled to Dubai, Greece, Italy, Paris, Bali, and more,” Sane said. “We frequently attend popular events that attract Strong Black Women such as the Essence Festival, (Sarah Jakes Roberts’) Woman Evolve Conference, Caribana, Black Travel Summit, and The Wealth Experience. Additionally, we organize various national and international vacations. Travel is the heart of our movement and our brand motto, ‘Travel Heals The Soul™,’ has been central to our mission since inception.”
As for her strategic mission through Black Girls On The Go® (BGOTG)/Black Girl Travel Movement™ (BGTM), Sane said:
“My personal mission is to break the stigmas surrounding mental health in the black community and to provide strong black women with the tools and support they need to thrive. I aim to create spaces where Strong Black Women (SBW) feel seen, heard, and empowered to prioritize their well-being.”
