And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:29/KJV)
GOD’S PLAN
To her credit, Dr. Sherley Lefevre, Ph.D’s spiritual gifts are such that she has become equipped with bearing the infirmities of the week, as God’s manual admonishes us according to Romans 15:1.
How else to explain the awe-inspiring developments surrounding her latest authorship milestone?
“I received the vision to write this book at the beginning of 2024,” Dr. Lefevre recalls. “The initial vision was to compile an anthology that would allow several authors to share their healing journeys and testimonies about church hurt.”
And so it came to pass, the highly-anticipated release of The Runaway Bride of Christ: Overcoming Church Hurt, Dr. Lefevre’s latest published masterpiece that, much to her delight, has set off a fervent buzz across various message boards and social media platforms.

As part of Making Headline News’ advance national coverage of Sarah Jakes Roberts’ Second Annual Woman Evolve Conference that takes place September 26-28 from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Dr. Lefevre emphasized, among other things, she felt greatly inspired to spearhead The Runaway Bride of Christ: Overcoming Church Hurt as a strategic way to address what she deems “the deep and often unspoken wounds” caused by church hurt.
“This book seeks to unmask the pain many experiences within the institution while offering a path to healing and restoration,” Dr. Lefevre told MHN this week. “I hope that through this work, church leaders will be encouraged to reflect on and refine their leadership tactics, becoming more compassionate and intentional in their roles.
“Equally important, I want to provide a source of healing for those who have been wounded by the very place that was meant to nurture their faith. Through the power of transparency and grace, I aim to guide others toward forgiveness, growth, and a renewed relationship with Christ.”

A spiritually-empowering, riveting collaborative written work that is comprised of five co-authors, Dr. Lefevre earlier this week enlightened the masses via social media about the importance of her latest book.
“In The Runaway Bride of Christ, each author shares powerful insights and testimonies about overcoming church hurt and rediscovering faith,” Dr. Lefevre said via Facebook. “Their stories remind us that even in our pain, God’s grace and love remain constant. Be inspired by their stories, and let their words encourage your own healing journey. Remember, you are not alone in your struggle, and there is hope on the other side of hurt.”
Dr. Lefevre’s The Runaway Bride of Christ is her third anthology this year, the most books she’s composed during the course of one calendar year since she made her authorship debut in 2019.
According to Dr. Lefevre, she and her fellow co-authors began the book collaboration project in the Spring 2024 and was done with their respective chapters towards the end of summer.
“The divine message I hope readers take away from The Runaway Bride of Christ is one of redemption, restoration, and unwavering love,” Dr. Lefevre said. “No matter how deep the wounds from church hurt may be, God’s grace is always greater, and His love is constant. I want readers to know that they are not alone in their pain and that healing is possible through faith and forgiveness.
“God calls us back to Him, even after seasons of hurt and disillusionment, to experience His comfort and restoration,” Dr. Lefevre continued. “My prayer is that readers will feel empowered to release their burdens, embrace God’s healing, and find hope in His perfect plan for their lives.”
Much to their delight, Dr. Lefevre and Co. have become the beneficiaries of an array of rave reviews since the debut of their anthology.
“Overall, the feedback I’ve garnered through The Runaway Bride of Christ promotion has been deeply affirming and encouraging,” Dr. Lefevre told MHN. “Potential readers have expressed that they are looking forward to the release of this book resonating with their own experiences of church hurt, offering them a sense of validation and comfort. The overarching response has been one of gratitude for creating a space where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to move forward in their faith with renewed hope.”
Added Dr. Lefevre:
“The Runaway Bride of Christ is a vital part of the purpose for which God has created me because it allows me to serve as a vessel for healing, reconciliation, and empowerment. God has called me to speak the truth, especially in areas where pain is often hidden or misunderstood, such as church hurt. Through this book, I am fulfilling my mission to help others heal, not only from emotional wounds but also from spiritual disillusionment.
“By shedding light on these experiences and offering a path forward, I am able to use the gifts of discernment, empathy, and teaching that God has placed within me. This book is a reflection of my calling to guide others toward deeper faith and to encourage leaders to embrace Christ-like love and accountability. Ultimately, it is an expression of my obedience to God’s will in leading His people to healing and spiritual growth.”
