A spiritually-empowering, riveting collaborative written work that is foreword by Dr. Carolyn Wilson, Dr. Gourdine’s Turning My Pain Into Purpose: Volume 1 is comprised of 38 co-authors, all of whom felt greatly to share with the masses their inspirational, life-altering testimonies of her how God miraculously provided for them a way of escape.
“God gave me this vision as I was going through my own storm,” Dr. Gourdine, a native of Cross, South Carolina, said. “I just found out I have yet another diagnosis that adds to the other five that I have.”
According to Dr. Gourdine, she learned recently she had been diagnosed with Deep Vein Thrombosis (or DVT).
According to a January 2023 report by the National Library of Medicine, a deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that forms within the deep veins, usually of the leg, but can occur in the arms and the mesenteric and cerebral veins. Also, deep-vein thrombosis is a common and important disease and is part of the venous thromboembolism disorders, representing the third most common cause of death from cardiovascular disease after heart attacks and stroke.

Moreover, the report cites, even in patients who do not get pulmonary emboli, recurrent thrombosis and post-thrombotic syndrome are major causes of morbidity.
This activity reviews the etiology, presentation, evaluation, and management of deep vein thrombosis and reviews the role of the interprofessional team in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing the condition.
“I have two (blood clots) in my left leg,” Dr. Gourdine said amid her unlikely diagnosis. “As went through this journey, (God allowed me) to help others tell their story of how they turn their pain into purpose.”
So much so that Dr. Gourdine has gone to great lengths to share of her awe-inspiring journey through what she known as D.O.P.E, her featured empowerment endeavor designed to enable people to become better versions of themselves.
D.O.P.E is an acronym that stands for Dedicated to Other People EmPowerment. “(It’s designed for) healing others and sharing their story to heal others,” Dr. Gourdine said of her empowerment platform.
