If you are one who is presently harboring a sweet tooth, such a familiar craving can be heighten considerably when you browse the Facebook page of Memphis-based entrepreneur Teka Doggett.
There you will find an assortment of images featuring eye-catching, attention-grabbing, mouth-watering cookies made by Doggett, the owner and CEO of Teka’s Cookies.
A thriving, progressive business that officially went into operations on Doggett’s birthday in December 2015, Teka’s Cookies have become a popular venture throughout the social media universe and, given the immense strides her business has made since its inception, it appears it is starting to become a household name around the country.
“Being in an extra-curricular activity helps with taking a risk doing your best and being judged afterwards,” Doggett, a Memphis Hamilton High graduate, told Making Headline News this week while drawing a distinct correlation between her days as a high school majorette and her desire to delve off into entrepreneurship. “(That) reminds me of a competition or a jamboree. What I like most (about being a business owner) is giving people something good and sharing things that I like.”
To her credit, Teka’s Cookies certainly have given way to Doggett having emerged mightily as a fan favorite, of sorts, particularly amongst those with whom she’s affiliated via social media.
All too often, social media account holders periodically find themselves hastening to Doggett’s timeline that accompanies the name, Teka’s Cookies, only to wound up wasting little time contacting her to place their much-anticipated orders.
“I cater to all age groups…anyone that loves cookies,” Doggett said.
A little more than a year-and-a-half removed from having established her assorted cookie business, Doggett’s products aren’t just a popular trend amongst Mid-Southerners. Today, Teka’s Cookies are being requested daily by consumers around the country for a variety of occasions.
You name the flavor of delectable cookies, and chances are Doggett has it in her unique professional baking repertoire.
Or she would go to great lengths to get it.
Heck, given the congested consumer traffic that customarily blankets her Facebook page, it’s safe to assume that Doggett aims to please, something by which her devoted customers deem especially gratifying.
“I really don’t have one,” said Doggett, when asked to explain her mission for starting what has become a successful business. “But I do, however, have God’s mission to fulfill, because that’s where my inspiration came from.”
As it relates to the birthing of Teka’s Cookies, it essentially started with a dream, Doggett recalled. By and large, while she admittedly sensed it was a mere fantasy, it’s a good thing she steadfastly obeyed the voice of her Creator.
“I literally dreamt this idea, woke up and said out loud, ‘God you have jokes,’” Doggett explained with a straight while displaying her unique but familiar slight smile. “(I said), ‘How am I going to come up with all those flavors?’”
As expected, God gave her the answer about which she diligently inquired.
Errr, sorry. He gave her the appropriate answers, mind you.
“Needless to say, I got my answers, even though I had to use family and friends as my guinea pigs while I perfect my recipes,” Doggett said.
A longtime licensed Tennessee cosmetologist, Doggett’s business, thanks in large part to her unyielding love for her customers, coupled with the solid support from family and friends, is enjoying continuous growth, a trend that figures to last for quite some time.
“I like to show others that when you obey God, the results are unimaginable,” Doggett said.
